This machine is amazing. I began to suspect Skil was making a come back a while ago when I bought their 12v impact drill. Knocked the lugs right off to change the breaks on my car in no time. So then I decided to try out their 20v circular saw for some projects. The thing cut like butter. So now I was thinking these guys are on par if not pulling on brands like Milwaukee and dewalt so then I decided to give the mower a shot. And let’s just say I’m now fully sold on Skil. My whole arsenal is now made up of Skil tools. This mower is so light you can lift it with one hand. The self propel is top notch but with it being so light I literally only use it to move up hills or as needed. And it’ll cruise too for sure. Very very little vibration and the sound of the self propel motor is louder than the blade itself. It’s not a whisper but you can talk to someone normally without yelling over it. It handles super easily being able to move around trees and things just fine. Adjusting the deck height can be done with little effort with a locking lever on the back wheels. With no engine, it’s super light to adjust the height as well. The battery is very impressive. I have two houses next to each other and on one fully charged battery, I was able to cut the front and back on one house and about a quarter of the front yard of the other house. Sizes of the yards I would say are about 6000 square feet flat mostly. The blade cuts clean and only on some of the heavy overgrown places did I have to make a second pass. I am extremely pleased with my new mower and I actually get excited to use it! You will not be disappointed with this purchase. Solid product.

I was waiting to write a review because I wanted to use this mower a few times to make an honest review and opinion. I 100% LOVE this mower! I'm a 63 year old female. Because my male friend was recently diagnosed with bad foot problems and couldn't mow my lawn anymore with his gas powered lawn mower, I decided to try a battery operated one. I'm soooo happy I did. This particular mower is very easy to operate! It's lightweight, but strong! It handles with ease and cuts just the way I like it!! It's quiet, compared to gas mowers, super easy to start and store away. The size and performance is an A+!!! Did I mention it's worth every bit of the price??

I LOVE this lawn mower!! I'm 62 years old and truly wondered if I could still cut my grass. I needed something easy to maintain & definitely self-propelled. This mower was absolutely the best choice for me. Very easy to assemble, very easy to maneuver, folds nicely for storage, battery holds a good charge. I wish it came with 2 batteries but I do have to sit down and rest between mowing front, side and back so I just put the battery on the charger for a few minutes while resting. I'm having to spend a little extra mowing time in a back area that got a bit out of control but when that's done my 1 fully charged battery will cut the entire yard. I felt confident that Craftsman would be a solid and well-made choice and I couldn't be happier. I highly recommend this powerful, smooth cutting mower.

I ordered the SKIL PWR CORE 40 Brushless 40V 20" Self-Propelled Mower Kit Including 6.0Ah Battery and Auto PWR JUMP Charger-SM4910C-11. I have now been mowing with this for 13 months, and I'll continue to come back and update as time goes on. This is the best mower. I was researching for several weeks trying to find the perfect fit, and I wanted this one out of everything I found online, but because of the negative reviews about the battery, I knew I couldn't do it. Well, one day I just was reading up on it again because I just wanted this exact mower as I was obsessed, and then I finally read why the reviews were so poor on this because it was a faulty battery and the battery was recalled in December 2024. I was so happy since I knew the problem was most likely fixed so I ordered, and I LOVE her so much. If you bought one before that month you'll want to look into it. I'm a small lady, and the assembly was quite effortless. The manual was easy to read and explain. I actually put it together in my living room simply because I could and why not? You just need to put the bag together attaching the sides to the mesh bag. If you are going to use the bag you need to remove the mulch plug. The charger and battery are both quite impressive and big. The charger sounds like a motor running at first so it's not completely silent until completion. There are lights that show you when it's done. I'm definitely going to be careful about where I store the battery avoiding extreme heat and cold since a spare is quite spendy. It goes into the unit effortlessly under its trap door which is quite neat. I make sure to keep that area clean.. It's incredibly easy to adjust the height, and easier than other mowers I've had. The unit in general is much lighter than my old gas mower which this is replacing. There's a self-propelled option which is the main feature I needed when searching for mowers since I am healing from an arm/shoulder problem and have other physical restrictions. Starting- when I first tried to start this up I couldn't get it going, and I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong and then after looking at the directions many times I realized the handles were not extended. You need to remove the red tabs on each side, pull out the handles all the way towards your body, then lock them back up. After I did that she was ready to go and started fine. To start you just hold your finger over the red button and pull the thin handle then while holding the handle you can let go of the start button. The self-propel feature is easy by just pulling the red handle towards you. There are various speeds from slow to fast that are a simple turn of a dial. Slow is so slow I don't even know why I would use it. Fast is perfect for a fast paced walk. I don't feel like it takes off running either when it's on the fastest setting as it's just perfect without dragging you behind after it starts going. You can use self-propel without the mower actually cutting or running which is really helpful and I do it each mow when I return it to storage. As long as the battery is inside, it will obviously work and move for you if you don't feel like pushing it when you are starting or finishing. Also, the instructions clarify this but you want to let go of the self-propel lever a few moments before you finish your row, otherwise it gets locked up and you have to move it back and forth a little bit in order to get it going again. After a little practice I learned when to let go of it to avoid this happening. The mower is much quieter than a gas mower, but I wouldn't say it is quiet. However, it is a little funny that the self-propelled feature seems to be louder than the motor itself, as you can hear it when you are mowing sometimes. It has a winding noise, but it doesn't sound faulty, I just didn't expect to hear it. It's really nice to have something that is a little bit quieter, especially when I am listening to music in my headphones. When I first started using this, I had quite a mess of very long grass in both of my front and backyards. It was also wet outside. I'm in the Pacific Northwest, and I really needed to take my opportunities as they came if the rain stopped. There were some areas where the grass was probably over 8 inches. In general, this did an excellent job cutting really thick and longer grass, but it doesn't really love when it's wet and too long. I was surprised with its abilities when I was initially testing, but I did end up raising the blade in some spots since it couldn't handle really tall and wet grass in certain areas which is reasonable and understandable. Obviously, if you slow this down and move slowly or overlap rows it handles it better. I do not plan on overworking it like I had been doing with my testing, but I just wanted to see what it was capable of and it was quite impressive, similar and very close to what my gas mower would do. I've learned part of my lawn will not tolerate scalping, so you really shouldn't cut more than 1/3 of the total height at a time. In general, this is a very powerful and strong mower. When I'm using the bagger, I can tell when it's getting close to being full. It's incredibly easy to empty the bag and put back in. I like the handle on the back since it's easier to shake into my compost bin. My front yard is half moss and half grass, and it did a great job there too including when damp as long as I have it set at a realistic cutting length. This is great when dealing with leaves as I no longer have to rake. I can use this alone or a leaf blower getting them in piles and pick them up with this. It's especially helpful along my curb that collects the neighbors leaves that blow to my side. I can leaf blow them into piles then pick them up with this or just mulch or bag the entire lawn with leaves. I do something different each time, and I like using this over the sidewalk or driveway to avoid getting the blower out after certain jobs. Sometimes it's better to pull this vs push regarding debris or leaf pickup. Strong Battery & Effortless Mowing Experience-I honestly don't know the square footage of both my yards, but it takes me about an hour to do the front and the back. Normally, I could never do two in one day because it's too much for me physically especially when my prior gas mower did not have a self-propel feature. Trying to mow a sunken in mossy/grassy/uneven yard was so painful where I would be dripping sweat with just doing one lawn. I literally can do both of these at once without even breaking a sweat because it does all the work for me with the self-propel feature. And when I'm not using the self-propel at the end of rows and around certain features, it's light enough where it's not a strain. I won't even mention I don't have to go through the barbaric starting of the lawn mower ripping my arms out of the sockets since it's just a push button. Some days I do the front and back yards then hit the curb, driveway and sidewalk to grab old leaves and debris, and the battery is still going strong even while using the self-propelled feature the whole time. When I just mow one yard, it barely takes any time to recharge as there's so much juice left. I still haven't ever completely drained the battery when using it yet, so I'm not sure how much more it could go after I'm finished. Noticed one negative- Even though this can handle the front yard with half moss, I can't get it as short as the back as it will keep dying trying to cut it. I need to raise the mower one notch than I would for the back. I actually had an opportunity to try out a couple different brand battery operated mowers since I bought this. This is a powerhouse compared to them. This battery and the quality is unmatched. I fully intend to have this working perfectly for years to come, but I will come back and update as time goes on. The warranty puts me at ease especially with such a reputable company as Skil that I remember around the house in the 80's. I've honestly hated mowing the lawn my entire life until now. In fact, I actually look forward to it, because I love this mower so much. I also couldn't even physically mow with all my body restrictions the last several years. With this I only need to be able to physically walk, and it does everything for me, thank you.

I first bought a Skil five years ago and had a bad experience. The model I bought looks just like this but was not self-propelled. It kept dying. Finally I gave up and got a yard service. At one point, because as I thought about the wasted money, I finally called their support. I always hesitate on that these days because it is rarely satisfying. The support person was in Canada, was a native English speaker, and super helpful. I dealt with him more than once as he set up a return of my mower and shipped a replacement. That was not a desirable experience but at least the did a fantastic job of making it right. I gave it a try and sure enough the replacement was not dying. I didn't use it much as my service I'd found was affordable and did a great job. Jump ahead a couple years. I've moved to another state where the grass is a lot thicker, grows faster, and my yard is several times the size of the previous. Too big for a service (meaning it'd cost too much). So I started using the Skil push mower and the little thing did/does a great job. But I was getting pretty tired especially as it got hotter. The yard would take 2.5 hours to mow. Now a week or so ago I got this model. Looks just like my old one but is self-propelled and comes with a bigger battery, BUT the old mower's batteries (I have two) fit. The mower itself is very ergonomic in how you engage both the blades and the self-propulsion. Nice that they are separate because you might just want to drive it to the spot you want to cut without the blades going, or push it with the blades going for certain areas (it's light). Mowing time has improved too, getting closer to 2 hours, maybe 2 1/4. The only con is the dial for the speed. If I were an engineer at Skil, I'd make the turning of it less sensitive. When mowing I like to adjust the speed at times and not have to stop to do it, that takes careful technique to turn it just a touch. Overall, I recommend this mower and the previous (which I still have). I love how it (and the other) easily fold up to save space. I like the aesthetics of the designs as well. I hope the support person still works for Skil and does such a great job for other folks.

I noticed right away how little difference there was between the lowest and highest grass setting. After cutting a small sample I saw no significant difference in grass height. There was so little power in the fully charged battery I was not surprised when the mower stopped cutting on a regular basis, but I was shocked when the battery quit entirely after less than ten minutes of actual cutting time. I thought the battery was defective and called the phone number listed. The service rep told me this lawnmower was incapable of cutting grass 4 inches long, which was the case in spots, and that's why the battery failed so soon. Not what I expected to hear but obviously what the rep was instructed to say. I was in no mood to argue the point. Two inch grass doesn't need cutting and if the lawnmower can't deal with four inch grass, to me, it's not worth the box it came in.

I am so absolutely impressed with this mower! This is my first battery operated mower and I could not be happier. It is very light, you don't really need the self propelled function but it's there if you want it. It mows great, as good or even better than a gasoline powered mower. It is quieter than a vacuum cleaner. I had no issues with it shutting off at any point. I used it for an hour and it showed the battery at half full. It almost feels like a toy but it is far from it. A very powerful, extremely well made piece of machinery. I highly recommend it. If you need a mower, buy it, you will be happy.
