  • It works. Good for around the house and will cut field grass but not for professional landscaping.
Style: 40V 20" Push Mower Kit (6.0Ah & 4.0Ah Ba...
It works. It will cut down grass thats 3ft tall. The engine might stall if its cutting too much but its easier to start compared to a gas mower. This thing is good for around a house. I would still use gas for tough jobs and if landscaping was your profession on account of simply being able to refill vs waiting on a charge. I got this because it came with both a 4 and 6ah battery and I already had some of the skil 40v tools. If you are cutting grass around the house and keeping it under control this thing will last and work perfectly fine. If you are cutting wild field grass, this thing will work but you will need multiple batteries. On a 25 acre lot of land I can do sections and patches with this. If you needed a mower and live in the burbs, this thing will do you just fine. The skil hedge trimmer and trimmer work excellent as well and last awhile. The skil chainsaw is the only tool that drains batteries quickly. The biggest downside to these batteries is the cost per unit. You will want a couple charging stations and more batteries if you live on a larger plot of land and have a lot to keep up with. I would not rely on these for professional landscaping if its your profession as charging batteries requires more than 30+mins for a full load. Gas takes less than 2mins to refill. The only two tools I've used for landscaping is the trimmer and the hedge trimmer. They work but again you will need a few batteries depending on how much you are doing in a day. ... show more

  • Very durable and Incredible battery life!
Style: 40V 20" Push Mower Kit (6.0Ah & 4.0Ah Ba...
So at first, I was a little bit skeptical. But I have several Skil hand tools that I’ve been very pleased with. My wife likes to help me mow the yard so I basically bought this for her. I have the Honda gas engine mower that we’ve been using for the last 10 years. I don’t know about everybody else, but all I can do is state my experience. With the gas mower I go through one and a half tanks of gas to mow the yard. As a test I put the smaller 4 Ah battery in the new Skil mower to see if it would make it through our backyard without having to replace the battery. To my surprise when I finished the backyard, it still had three bars on the battery. So I decided to continue with the side yard. I got all the way finished with the side yard and still had power to go. So I started on the front yard, which is the largest part of our yard. And I finish that up just as the battery died. So the battery life far exceeded my expectations. This mower is very light! With the gas mower I would get tired halfway through. With this mower I was able to mow the entire yard and not feel tired. So my wife will love it! The construction of the mower is very good. The mower deck is made out of plastic, but don’t be fooled, It’s very strong plastic and much lighter than a metal deck. I had a few spots of a little bit taller grass, and it seemed to cut through it without any problems. I love how easy it is to raise and lower the mower deck. And a couple areas of our yard it is a little rough, tree roots and such. So I raised the mower up a little bit, it just takes a second. One lever and it adjusts all four wheels. Overall, I give the Skil push mower five stars. After purchasing this mower with the two batteries, I can honestly say that for a push mower, we will never go back to a gasoline engine again. ... show more

  • Quiet and portable

Works good but batteries don't last very long! Oh well, it's quiet and folds up for storage. Hubby has used it and says it's fine for small yard and no cords to cut 😆

  • Weak, not enough torque

Very little torque on this mower. It stalled about 10 times when I mowed my very small yard which was previously mowed a week prior.

  • First Battery Mower
Style: 40V 20" Push Mower Kit (6.0Ah & 4.0Ah Ba...
My lawn tractor had to go to the shop, so I purchased my first battery mower. I mow two yards, which is about 1/4 acre. With about 3 weeks growth I had my doubts but it worked! It was slow going but mower is light so not really hard. Took about 3.5 hours (and 2.5 battery changes) but it did the trick. I think it will come in handy for lawn maintenance and getting in tight spots. Not necessarily recommended for large yards, but it will get it done! ... show more

  • Say Goodbye to Gas Fumes Forever! Quiet Enough to Mow at 6 a.m.!
Style: 40V 20" Push Mower Kit (6.0Ah & 4.0Ah Ba...
Wow, just WOW. I have been so incredibly impressed with SKIL's entire line of electric brushless tools over the past few years. I recently upgraded my entire tool collection to their brushless line and I was immediately impressed with how favorably they compared to the other "red" company's line, but for nearly half the price. Their batteries are top notch, and they always seem to have incredibly thoughtfully designed features that other brands lack, even at the top tier. They really are innovators! So, when I saw this beautiful brushless electric lawnmower, I knew that based on my previous experience with SKIL, it would be a tool that would last for YEARS. I was not fully prepared to be as impressed as I was, however. WEIGHT - significantly lighter than a gas powered mower, particularly one that is full of fuel and fluids. NOISE - This thing is quiet enough to mow your lawn at 6 am without the neighbors even noticing. I'm serious! The brushless electric motor sounds like a warehouse fan, not like a gas generator. You can hardly hear it at all a house or two away. POWER - This thing is a beast! It is VERY powerful, cutting consistent height grass in even the densest lawns. EASE OF USE - Almost laughably easy to use. You can have this out of the box and in use within 10 minutes. The mower height was incredibly simple, and every adjustment is tool free and obvious. The battery life is awesome, thanks to the efficient brushless motor. But, just like all other SKIL products, they come in at a great value as well, offering you TWO batteries plus a high-horsepower charger that'll keep you mowing, even if you have a LARGE lawn. The storage spot on top is just the cherry on top. What a smart idea considering how often you need to pick up sticks, limbs, balls, trash, etc. This keeps you moving and mowing without having to constantly stop. I really love it! The best feature of all, however, is the lack of gas fumes. If you've done any measure of yard work, you know what it's like to come in smelling of exhaust and covered in oil. Not with this one! It's really great! You'll never miss your gas mower again, I promise! ... show more

  • Overall, a good option - especially if collecting Skil tools
Style: 40V 20" Push Mower Kit (6.0Ah & 4.0Ah Ba...
I was able to compare this side-by-side with my 40v Ryobi mower, and honestly they're pretty even. I liked the lever/button startup on the Skil, but the blade is a little slower to 'get up to speed' than the Ryobi. The Skil also has a wheel height adjustment that maxes out slightly higher than my Ryobi, but that worked out well since I'm using the Skil at a rural 2-acre parcel that has more sticks, rocks, etc. (mows where the tractor can't go). The Ryobi is for the lawn at home. After the battery recall fiasco some time back, there aren't a lot of third-party battery options right now, so you may be paying a premium on those in the short-term, but the ones included are robust and required no recharging during the multi-hour session I did. I should note that the charger has a cooling fan, and combined with ionization effects of charging, it set off my CO detector in the residential area (it detects hydrogen produced by the charger). I've only had this happen once before, and the net is you charge them in the garage, not the house. The collapsable handle was also well designed to actually be collapsable with nominal of effort (some brands are "collapsible" only with a herculean act of disassembly), so storing the whole thing is much easier. The storage area is a little gimmicky, but I'll be fair to say I found myself tossing a stone or two in there, instead of just tossing it towards the driveway like I usually do. I can see where it might be handy if there are balls, kid toys, dog toys and chews, etc. strewn around a yard and you don't want to do a walkdown before mowing. I thought the blade needed a little extra sharpening out of the box, but then I cut higher on the grass blades, so it needs to be to cut well instead of whacking the grass over. YMMV. All in all it's an excellent mower, and if you're planning to buy their other 40v products (trimmer, blower, etc.), this is a great complement to that 40v ecosystem. ... show more
