Skar Audio introduces its SK series line-up of high-performance subwoofer enclosures to bridge the gap between competition-grade quality and universal fit pre-fabricated enclosures. The SK2X12V subwoofer enclosure is a dual 12-inch, universal fit, ported, subwoofer enclosure that is designed for maximum bass and responsiveness. Finished in a premium black carpet and featuring the Skar Audio logo on the lower left side, this enclosure will look sleek and attractive in any application. When setting out to offer a line-up of premium, universal fit, subwoofer boxes, the end goal was to deliver a final product that was unlike anything else available on the market; setting new standards for quality and performance. The enclosure features a kerf style port, which means that the port construction utilizes the curves typically found only in custom, high-end, professional enclosures, allowing the box to offer deeper and more accurate bass. Furthermore, it’s precisely tuned to ensure that it delivers riveting low-end frequency response and the type of bass that turns heads from outside the vehicle. The differentiating features that put this box in a league of its own don't stop there though; this dual 12-inch vented enclosure also utilizes high-end materials during construction, ensuring durability and reliability. On top of its outstanding craftsmanship, the enclosures are also braced for extreme strength, and can handle even the most brutally powerful subwoofers. The only drawback to this, is neither my Power Bass, or my Polk Audio subs would fit in this box without messing around and trying to find perfect center. I still had to angle one screw per speaker for it to bite. With that said, THAT IS THE ONLY ISSUE! I had bought a used 12 inch box that had ten inch subs in it. The box was pretty good sounding, and with some low bass notes, would readjust my rear view mirror, with my old Memphis 500w monoblock. If it wasn't too big for my car, I'd probably keep it, but instead, I built a sealed enclosure, and s 750w NVX monoblock amp that pushes about 800w RMS to push my newly acquired Polk Audio subs. That box and those subs produced some great, punchy, and smooth bass. I was quite pleased with that setup, but the frequency response was just not where I wanted it to be. Unless it was digitally remastered music, there was no good range. I planned on either building a ported box, or porting the sealed box. I opted for a new box, because if I didn't like it, I wouldn't have to uninstall the ports. I looked, and MDF was at about $70.00 per sheet, then the glue, screws, or nails, the terminal cups, carpet, etc, and I would be spending the same as I would if I bought a new box. So, here we are. I put in "Welcome to the Machine" from Pink Floyd, and the bass readjusted my mirror, at 2/3 gain. I tried some rap, some funk, and some 80s pop, all had great bass resonance and punchy hits. Nothing I played sounded bad! This box fits into the footprint of the old one, but isn't as tall, so it packs more punch while taking up less space. The package arrived 2-4 days early, undamaged, and pre wired, and I am very impressed with its performance. It appears to be pretty well built, anr looks nicer than if I built one myself. It is worth the money, it was easy to install, and is surprisingly lightweight. I recommend this box to anybody. For those complaining of no bass, you need to amplify your subwoofers. Very nice box but planned to put two p3 Rockford fosgate subs and outer trim ring won’t fit so had to trim the box with a saw. The front trim overhangs.

The fact that it is 5/8” is odd. Seems like you’d want at least 3/4” mdf but so far so good and it’s only seeing about 1000 watts from 2 infinity kappa 1000w subs. Sounds great and looks rather nice with clean carpet and a nice rounded port edge roll. Nicely stitched looking skar logo as well. The box fits well in the trunk of a Mercedes e350. The connection plates are well built and stout with good strong push connectors of 8awg. Good 12awg pre-wired inside with well dampened interiors. So far so good. I did notice internal bracing and box was received undamaged even though shipping box had some shipping related injuries. The box hits really low also through its native tuning and the slight undersize air volume for the subs is not noticeable. They supposedly desire 1.5 and box provides 1.35cf per side. Very pleased overall with the mating. As far as longevity idk yet and as stated first the only point of contention is the mdf thickness but so far so good! ... show more

What can I say? I've had my two Kicker CompVX 10s for a few years now, but mounted in a sealed box. I read so many reviews about how much louder ported boxes are, so I decided to give it a try. I didn't want something cheaply built, because these subs can really kick. No disappointment here! They really opened up and truly KICK now. I can hear some very DEEP lows that weren't apparent before. I had to lower the gain on my Pioneer amp, too. This box is well-built, and arrived in perfect condition without damage. Some people say the wires are too short, but that isn't the case at all. They give you plenty of excess play for installation. You may need to separate the wires a bit to connect them, however, because with the Kickers, the connections are a few inches apart. I haven't had this kind of sound in my car for a good 20 years, back when I had a couple of 12 inch Kicker Competition subs. This box fits perfectly in my Focus sedan. I can't say anything bad about it. Worth every dollar! It hits every box in the plus category, and nothing negative. ... show more

Nicely built. The wiring is ofc. Big plus. Some use cca which is junk. Only my opinion. I put 2ohm subs in it but wired them to 4ohm so my amp can handle it while delivering plenty of power to the subs. I started to build my own box out in my garage, then discovered this one. It's just easier and the specs/parameters match the subs needs. I would suggest this box that fits 8", or a different size box for larger subs through skar. Building your own would sound good, but your parameters won't be identical to what your subs are supposed to be fitted for. And its very well built and very attractive. Skar audio rocks! It is not pre drilled. Be very, very careful.There is not much room for error check and then double check.Before you start screwing anything into it or making a pilot hole. Reccomended screws. Construction, deck or wood self tapping #8 3/4 inch . Find them at any hardware store, and of course amazon. ... show more

    • This thing bangs but Buy new, not refurbished.

Ok I have to amend this review as it is coming up for all versions of this box. First things first, this thing bangs. I have this in my crew cab ram on stock electrical. Rzr2500 and power acoustic gw124 subs. After about a day of tuning, gain matching and box positioning it’s really a lot to deal with. The bass is so loud and not just a one frequency wonder either. Very conservative with my low pass and subsonic filter. Has a nice even roll off without too much unloading below the tuning frequency. Mask off is a go to banger to test subs, even if the language is terrible and you can literally feel it in your throat at max volume. I’m sure the 4-500 watts I’m pushing is no where near what some will be running but for me it gets my approval. I still think you should be careful when buying from Amazon to make sure they don’t slip you a weellll used one like they did me. I thought I was buying new and this is what I got but hey I found I can live with it after all and didn’t want to wait for a new one. Well done design Skar. Shame on whoever sent me this beat up looking thing. Refurbished my behind. ... show more
