It's hard to believe this subwoofer costs $160. The build quality is top notch. It has a high roll surround, stitched surround, the tinsel leads are woven into the spider, super heavy motor structure and basket. All things you usually see on a much more expensive woofer. I built a ported box to skar audio specs, 2.5 cubic foot net internal volume with a 32 square inch port 19 inches long. I did a 1.5 inch front baffle to reduce any flex. The woofer is being powered by a Rockford fosgate bd1001cp that's rated at 1483rms @1ohm. So far I'm extremely pleased with the low end frequency response and the overall accuracy of the woofer. It's incredibly loud and quite powerful. I don't hear the sub struggle whatsoever even when I really hammer on it. It can be a little sloppy on some more rapid bass notes, but I attribute most of that to the fact that it's in a giant ported box. Being a first time customer to skar audio I was a little skeptical on what I was getting just because the prices are so competitive. But I'm pleasantly surprised, I would definitely recommend skar audio to anyone who is on the fence. On another good note, shipping was fast, 3 days from the time I ordered. And like the other reviews have said, the woofer came in 3 boxes, one larger Amazon box with some paper padding, and then 2 separate skar audio boxes. The subwoofer motor is packaged in a big piece of formed foam that keeps it from moving, along with a piece of cardboard with foam on the cone and surround of the woofer. Inside all of that is the woofer wrapped in a plastic bag. So needless to say the woofer came without damage and in perfect condition. Sooo i bought to of this subs nd usually dont write reviews on stuff i buy but i felt this had to be a must i got my sub like almost a week earlier then expected.. Big plus for me when i got my order it was packed in three boxes the outside one being the biggest the the second one being a skar audio box and then the box that actually had my sub in it... Oh and there was great padding in all three boxes specially the first box so the rest wouldnā€™t move at all when i opened the box that had the sub i was impressed very well padded to keep the sub in place and wouldnt move at all through out the ride to my house it was wrapped up in see thru plastic as soon as you take the plastic off the sub you see the detail and hard work that went into the sub very good quality material used on this sub very heavy as well thats was one thing i liked as well i liked the push terminals it had very nice and they looked and felt heavy duty as well BUT what was even more impressing was when i hooked it up MAN OH MAN this sub is a beast makes the roof my 03 silverado flex lik crazy gets everybodys attention when im driving down the busy intersection near my house i also had this lady tell to turn it down that it was shaking everything in her car.. Tbh this a budget friendly sub i dont think its to expensive its perfect for my price range and believe me does it deliver i really recommend this sub theres alot of people that say this subs arent good but believe me they are nd they deliver alot more for the price that there at if your looking for a sub stop looking and buy skar audio wont be disappointed ... show more

Just bought 2 Skar 1500 watt 12 inch subwoofers and one 12 inch subwoofer (Skar) was hitting harder than the 4 audio pipe 12ā€™s that I had in my truck. I was so impressed that Iā€™m replacing my other 12ā€™s too. I would recommend you just buy them an I promise you will not be disappointed.

I had a Rockford punch p3 before this paired to a Rockford fosgate 750 watt amp. That sub hit super hard and clean for a year before it blew. I was very sad and when I went to go look for another p3 they had raised the price from $150 to $200. While looking I wanted something that could handle more than 750 watts rms so that I wouldnā€™t blow it again. I found the scar ddx 12 handles around 1000 watts rms so I pulled the trigger. I set up the sub to the same box and amp as the punch p3 and there sure was a big difference. The p3 has a stronger initial ā€œpunchā€ but drowns out after the initial bass drop, while the ddx doesnā€™t hit as hard initially it can keep the deep bass going for a while. I canā€™t justify which of the 2 sounds better since theyā€™re both difference experiences, but I am happy with my purchase and the ddx is still cheaper than the p3. Also keep in mind Iā€™m only giving the sub 750 watts when it can take 1000. Itā€™s a power amp and the sub is eating all the power and is still hungry for more. Iā€™m sure with a bigger amp there would be much more thump. Lastly, there is a break in period of about 2 weeks for the sub to reach its full potential. ... show more

Iā€™ve had this sub for 2 years now. I know some people donā€™t like skar or have had a bad experience but Iā€™ve been bumping this thing 2 hours a day 6 days a week going to and from work. It pounds hard in my single ported box with a skar 1200 watt amp. I will definitely buy another skar if this one ever quits on me. ... show more
