We did do some mitigation - used fireplace paint and sealant on some key areas as a previous comment recommended. For under $30 we hopefully stopped immediate rust. Otherwise, this is exactly what we wanted. It's warming and nice to look at without being too short that it leaves us in smoke. It's definitely sturdy enough, and easy to get started. The smoke is minimal at best, and if you're wondering - the temp at the smoke stack is around 450°F. It's the perfect size for our deck, but will easily move to the driveway for Halloween. We are very happy with the purchase.

UPDATE: Okay, so it's been a couple of months now. Used 3 times for my plentiful paper (even some plastic) waste and Amazon boxes. I'm in the N.E. Washington deep dark wet woods. Perpetually dark, cloudy skies in the winter/spring. Good testing grounds. Kept it under it's cover. It's such a nice chimenea! For you who wondered? No. No rust noted yet. And EVERYTHING rusts out here. Burning hot papers and cardboard, roaring rocket flames from top of smoke stack. So abused? Yes. It's just fine for me, folks. Will update this over the lifespan of the product perhaps. Thank you, Singlyfire. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Good sized. It's all at least stovepipe material or thicker. Looks sturdy. Can't complain for the price. Will update after I've burned a bunch of mail and cardboard. Looks better than the garbage can I was using. Assembly was not difficult. Synched everything down really good. Only technical wish was for a larger, higher up grate and bottom center ash door/drawer for frequent paper ash burning/emptying. May cut my own with Dremel.

I'd give this 3 1/2 stars...Good fire pit for the patio. Ideally I wanted a ceramic chimenea, however I like that this one is easy & lightweight to move. It was simple to put together, HOWEVER, there were 2 sections on the schute that would not align at all. Even my husband, a 30 yr. sheet metal worker, could not get the screws to fit in the holes. It still works, though. Another negative is the door is "wonky" and cheap, does not close well and isn't sturdy. Lost review stars also for not having an opening at the bottom to release the ashes 😕. Overall, I do not regret this purchase, it'll do.

I’m searching hard for an X-Large clay chiminea, but in the meantime, this works great. Very easy to put together. Some parts may not lineup exactly but it’s easy enough to manipulate and get a solid fit. My only concern is I live in a windy area and this is kinda light. But it burns well. Has good ventilation and gets nice and toasty. Obviously not as sturdy as a clay chiminea, but for the price, it works great.

So far this is amazing for upper deck patio. No rust yet had it for a few months and we never put a cover on it. Im in love didn't want a patio set that game with a gass fire place and having to but propane is a pain. Real fire and burning your own wood is a different ambiance its self. Plus I love how the screen protects the fire from kids burning them selfs. And an adjustable opening for air flow.

Looks great and was easy to assemble. Fire box might be a tad small for standard logs.

This Chiminea is not iron and definitely not thick like description claims. The wood grate is also thin steel and will not hold up to the heat. Disappointed. Should have known for the price. The spark screen in the front is cheap and very thin.
