  • You get what you pay for. It’s worth it.
I’m searching hard for an X-Large clay chiminea, but in the meantime, this works great. Very easy to put together. Some parts may not lineup exactly but it’s easy enough to manipulate and get a solid fit. My only concern is I live in a windy area and this is kinda light. But it burns well. Has good ventilation and gets nice and toasty. Obviously not as sturdy as a clay chiminea, but for the price, it works great. ... show more

  • Not too thin
UPDATE: Okay, so it's been a couple of months now. Used 3 times for my plentiful paper (even some plastic) waste and Amazon boxes. I'm in the N.E. Washington deep dark wet woods. Perpetually dark, cloudy skies in the winter/spring. Good testing grounds. Kept it under it's cover. It's such a nice chimenea! For you who wondered? No. No rust noted yet. And EVERYTHING rusts out here. Burning hot papers and cardboard, roaring rocket flames from top of smoke stack. So abused? Yes. It's just fine for me, folks. Will update this over the lifespan of the product perhaps. Thank you, Singlyfire. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Good sized. It's all at least stovepipe material or thicker. Looks sturdy. Can't complain for the price. Will update after I've burned a bunch of mail and cardboard. Looks better than the garbage can I was using. Assembly was not difficult. Synched everything down really good. Only technical wish was for a larger, higher up grate and bottom center ash door/drawer for frequent paper ash burning/emptying. May cut my own with Dremel. ... show more

  • Good buy
Assembled easily. Overall it works well. I added an additional coat of heat resistant paint inside and on the bolts. After cooling i put the cover on and move it out of the rain (it's very light). It has not rusted yet. My main complaint is the the front grill hinge and latch are flimsy. If you leave the grill open during a fire it won't latch when closed until it has heated up. ... show more

  • Safe for decks and kids. Better than a gass fireplace
So far this is amazing for upper deck patio. No rust yet had it for a few months and we never put a cover on it. Im in love didn't want a patio set that game with a gass fire place and having to but propane is a pain. Real fire and burning your own wood is a different ambiance its self. Plus I love how the screen protects the fire from kids burning them selfs. And an adjustable opening for air flow. ... show more

  • A Fair Compromise
- of cost and utility. The Singlyfire prairie chiminea is definitely NOT cast iron as suggested by its foreign supplier, but is constructed of a fair gauge sheet steel. Mine went together easily, without any hemispherical mating problems of the upper/lower halves. Before use I suggest painting it well inside and out with a 1200 degree grill-style spray paint; also using something like a DAP, high-temp mortar joint caulk at the chimney-body joints and over fasteners to prevent condensation gathering and rust from forming. You can expect a decent radiant heat when burning, as long as there's no wind, which will backdraft the grillwork (it having some misalignment latching problems.) The fire grate is cute - meant more for grilling burgers that holding a heavy ash bed and the vinyl cover is a good fit, though lightweight and likely wouldn't last much of a winter if the unit were left outdoors. Might be a good idea to clean and rinse the stove within 24 hours of any use to also prevent corrosion of the thin gauge fire pot All in all, though, not a bad buy for the money. ... show more

  • FIRE CHIMINEA ~ UPGRADED
Purchased this fire Chiminea a few days ago. This unit is very light as others stated in their reviews. I had a clay Chiminea for10 years but recently it had too many deep cracks which prevented continued use. Based on reviews, I put two flat heavy rocks on the bottom grate which keeps it grounded even in the Colorado winds. I also read about some rust issues, so before use and assembly, I lightly sanded all parts and applied two coats of rustoleum to prevent rusting which also applied a 2,000 degree heat shield to every part inside/outside to ensure this puppy last far beyond 10 years. I'm submitting a picture of the Chiminea and it looks way different with the flat black rustoleum 2,000 degree heat shield versus the high gloss black it arrived with. I had my first fire today and it was great. Now only time will tell on the quality of this product. Lasting, very easy to put together and move around with the two side handles. Thus far, very pleased with the purchase. I would recommend anyone purchasing this unit to consider adding rustoleum +heat shield to increase longevity of the product. ... show more
