So far I have had no issues with the pump. One thing that has bothered me is the flow restrictor. You can screw it in or unscrew it for more or less flow. The difference between hardly screwed in and completely removed completely is QUITE drastic. The issue with completely removing it is the water completely bypasses the pre filter sponge which would allow debris to get into the pump and potentially damage or clog the impeller. On a side note I wish I had a wattage reader because I reeeeeally hope this pump isn't drawing 270+ watts. Overall 8/10 ... show more

I put it in a tank for watering my plants daily witha hose attached with a watering wand. Just enough pressure not to damage my plants when watering. Would probably work well for a fountain.

The media could not be loaded. Everyone probably knows that ducks love water. What they might not know—except through experience taking care of them—is that they are the messiest creatures on the planet. In short: fowl are foul. I started working out a way to make the quacks happy by giving them water in a kiddie pool, but they make it SO dirty in only a few hours, which means that I have to constantly change the water every day or two and waste a lot of water! To avoid this issue, I decided to make a filtration system that would clean the water. I did A LOT of research, and ended up piecing together my own system using different ideas from multiple filtration systems. The hardest part was deciding on the right pump to use with nasty dirty quacks. Having no prior experience using any kind of water pump, I tried to find one that would handle a lot of punishment in the duck water. I’m only using a kiddie pool (probably less than 100 gallons), so a pump with over 1,000 GPH should keep the water clear, at least when the ducks aren’t swimming. Running with the valve fully open, the pump would circulate the water approximately 10 times each hour. I haven’t tested this yet to see if this is accurate, but out if the box it puts out a lot of pressure! I am using 3/4 inch pvc pipes, and it would definitely meet and possibly exceed the 12 foot head height that was boasted about this product, depending on the setup you use. Having only run the system for about 15 hours, I have seen a lot if crud building up on the built-in filter for this pump. The dirt and other debris in the filter was very manageable and wasn’t serious enough to impact the pump’s functionality. It’s extremely easy to pop out the filter and cleaned it. Some people have said that they struggled getting the filter out, but they must gave used a different pump because it literally takes seconds to disassemble, clean, and reassemble. It was easy to clean off, but I definitely cannot wait to improve my system by adding a pre-filter to my pump. I will try to update this review later when my ducks have had more time to abuse this pump. ... show more

My water pump is doing an awesome job after 1 month now. I've created my own DIY filtering system, needed a filter and took a chance after reading the reviews on this. We weren't really worried about any sound issue, but...wow, this thing is silent in my indoor 75G Turtle tank. Excellent product, and I'm sure I'll purchase another for the second tank later this year! ... show more
