To assemble, you just open the box, and pop on the stand, that's it. That's literally all there is to it. When its on the lowest setting it blew around twice as much air as the highest setting on a box fan I got for 35$ from another brand. On the highest setting, you can literally feel it trying to propel itself backwards from how much air it moves when you pick it up. If I had to purchase this 20 inch floor fan again, I would. It's way better than any box fan and it sure does move the air. With my old box fan I literally have to sit directly in front of it to feel any breeze. With this one, no problem even up to 20 feet away. At 10 feet away, you get a good enough breeze to keep the bugs off of you while working in the garage. It must be the metal fan blades in this one and it's actually quieter than the $35 box fan. So yes, spend the extra $30 for something that works. I also used this with outdoor parties, especially on hot summer nights. If you do use it at outside at parties, I would suggest to plug it into portable GFI (like on your hair dryer) or a GFIC outlet. Water, beer or wet kids do not mix well with electricity. The reason for my ratings, the power cord could be longer. Thus, my rational of using a GFI when using any fans outside, especially on an extension cord. ... show more

The item I got does not work right they did not send the base which is the legs so I had to prop it up so im not getting any justice from this fan its not worth the price payed for be careful it's to hot to waste time go somewhere else or get a different product
