I bought this fan for my bedroom which gets hotter than the main house because it has windows and French doors on three sides. The fan is as quiet as advertised. My husband is fussy about noise at night and he said he can sleep with the fan on. I don't notice the fan noise when I'm watching TV. Everything is great about the fan except installation. The instruction "manual" consists of a few pictures and no words. I struggled with the fan blade assembly because I put in parts backwards or missed key fitting steps because the pictures weren't detailed enough. I watched YouTube videos when I got stuck but they were video only and limited help. I went to the Rowenta website and their instructions for troubleshooting the first time set-up had pictures WITH WORDS that were larger and better. It was worth the effort to get the fan completed. Because the fan is of high quality, it's heavier than you would imagine because the pole is metal and the base is heavy. My husband lifts the fan with two hands on the top piece. I use one hand for the top and one hand for the pole thinking that I'm preventing the pole and top from separating. Both strategies seem to work although using two hands on the top to lift is easier. We have the fan located in a corner and we lift it out a bit to clear furniture and we move it back to give us more walking room at night.     • Quiet as a mouse! Like a cool summer breeze!

Did not know what we were missing! For years, we used generic fans sold at hardware stores. We didn’t know any better. One fan never quite had enough power and after years of use, it finally broke. Replaced it with a $34 fan from hardware store. Had adequate power but after 5 months of use, the head fell off. Then we bought one from Amazon which was so loud, we had to return. The Rowenta was pricey but we were sick of poor quality fans so decided it was time to splurge and happily found out this was $50 off! Cannot believe how quiet this fan is! This machine is so quiet that we forgot the fan was even on. The oscillating feature is smooth and noise free. It is so unobtrusive and literally feels like a cool summer breeze from an open window rather than a fan. The remote makes it convenient to change settings and it even has a sleep setting which makes it oscillate very slow and with a soft breeze. The timer will come in handy and multiple energy saving settings will be interesting to try. The base is sturdy and the motor is heavy duty but easy to move. It's a great looking fan and it works well and I like the remote, but! Haha, always a but right; for as nice as nice and pricey as it is I'm disappointed that there is no button to oscillate it from the remote so if you're in bed you have to get up if you want to move it. That was a shock to me as nice as new as it is with its remote and many features. And the other thing is that I think it could be a bit stronger. For a 120 dollar fan it should feature a stronger setting. I'm thinking maybe the reason it doesn't have one is because it might get a bit louder and then they couldn't use the "quietest fan ever" tag line. I swear fans used to be plenty strong and quiet when I was younger and now it's one or the other, but perhaps that's just nostalgia. But I swear they were and now you can have loud and strong or quiet and somewhat strong. Anyways though it's a very nice looking fan and it is relatively powerful and very quiet but for the price I was hoping for a bit more. ... show more

THE PLUSES: This fan is very quiet, that's very nice....Air output is decent not amazing, and it looks nice, blue plastic blades, contemporary design. The LCD light people complain about is not an issue, it's one tiny blue light. It's very easy to assemble--you don't really need the instructions; it's that easy and takes about 15 minutes from unpack to running it....(the pairing of the remote is another story) THE NEGATIVES: Most of it is plastic, though the grills are metal. I wonder how long this product will last.... The mechanism that allows you to tilt the fan up / down, is flimsy / weak and doesn't stay some of the time, and no place to tighten that I can see. The Remote is a BIG hassle. It's nice looking, but no battery; you'll need to buy a small flat battery....Biggest problem is; I can't get it to Pair w/ the fan; this is VERY frustrating.....no real directions on this either; what button to push 'on the remote' to pair, though they tell you which one on the fan....For the price of this fan, I should NOT have this pairing issue, or need to guess on how to do it, and battery should be provided, as everyone has said. All the work goes to dealing with the remote and pairing. If not for the quietness of the fan, I would send it back. If I keep it and it lasts more than three years I'll be shocked. ... show more

Bought this to replace a more expensive Vornado fan I purchased about 2 yrs ago, as I got “sucked in” to the supposed wind tunnel vortex technology bs it offered, but never quite delivered on. This Rowenta fan is perfect. It’s only been one night since I’ve used it, but I can already tell an enormous difference with the amount of room coverage and height options compared to the previous fan. Out of the box, this one required some assembly and the instructions are not entirely clear (I did get stuck for a sec on how to lift up the metal rod that adjusts the height lol) but after looking at it for a while (or one of several YouTube tutorials online) it’s actually quite simple (I was kind of embarrassed when I saw how easy the part I was stuck on was lol). My only gripe is that the remote doesn’t come with the small circular CR 2032 battery that you need, but luckily I had an extra. The fan is very easy to operate and for the size of my room and placement, even the lowest setting was enough to keep me cool while I slept ... show more
