Description

In order to best preserve its qualities, a billiard cloth deserves efficient cleaning. It is for this purpose that Simonis devised and developed a totally innovative accessory: the Simonis X-1. For regular maintenance of the playing surface i.e. the removal of chalk dust, you will no longer need a traditional brush that only moves this dust around on the cloth, nor daily use of a vacuum cleaner that may damage the cloth and the use of which is therefore impractical, nor a maintenance product that is likely to stretch or discolour the cloth or alter its properties.     • I am glad I got this. It is expensive and you will need a brush or vacuum in addition to this.
I have Simonis 860 (tournament blue) cloth on my table. I had seen this cleaning tool and I was curious. I read a lot of review decided that I needed it. It does an amazing job of removing chalk but not much else. It does move other dirt around and I get that with a brush or better yet, a small battery power vacuum. (not strong enough to stretch the cloth) I use a brush at times but I don't brush stuff into the pockets. (I have a Diamond Pro Am with a ball return) That would just put the dirt on the balls. The tool is smaller than I expected. It comes with a nice cardboard box that I store it in. (I don't need my cleaning tool getting dirty) The cleaning surface appears to get dirty quickly. (chalk colored debris) I hope that this keeps working as well as it does for a long time. The price seems pretty high for a small pad and plastic base. Simonis cloth is not cheap and neither is this tool. I was way too curious not to try this tool. I am glad I did. It really does a nice job of removing chalk. (almost unbelievable) . It is just ok at moving around other dirt and it won't actually pick it up. I gave it 4 stars because it does one thing very well and I consider it valuable. I took off a star because of the price. It is smaller than I expected but that may be based on the price. (I expected it to be bigger) For that price I would think they could provide a plastic case at least. ... show more

    • Might see too expensive but here is why it isn’t
We had just gotten our 4x8 pool table re-felted with Simonis championship series felt and if you play pool, you would probably know that it was NOT cheap. My wife and I play on a few leagues as well as at home for practice so we decided to take the jump and get the “good stuff” . We were informed on how to maintain it and what not to do if we want this cloth to last. One thing the installer mention is to get this particular cloth cleaner. He went over the reasons why and and how it works and so we ordered it. I know you think “why would I pay this much for cleaning my table when I have the brush and a vacuum? Well he answered that when you vacuum the cloth to get chalk dust and “fuzz” off, it actually will excessively stretch it and then you will hate playing on a loose table or you will have to pay to re-stretch it. In comes the Simonis cloth cleaner. It cleans all the junk off the table including chalk dust, fuzz, that messy powder for your hands and cue as well as erase lots of burn marks created buy putting lots of english spin and speed breaking. The way it was explained to me was that the brushing action you do created static cling and the contact service that magically picks up LOTS of the junk. To clean it you can vacuum it with out any damage. The other benefit is that it will help with any warranty issues later on down the line if they see you are serious about using the correct tool for the job. To sum it up, yes, although expensive, it is well worth it. It leaves the table looking like it’s right off the shoe room clean and protects your investment much longer. AMAZING PRODUCT!!! I'm not in shock at the price anymore. It paid for itself in 2 weeks. My 9' Green table and a Buddies 8' Badger Red table are looking NEW AGAIN. I was ready to replace the Green Felt on my table and simply cleaned it with this Static Brush and it pulled all kinds of colored chalk and junk from within the wool Felt. I then used a spray felt cleaner to get a couple water stains out and WOW. Like new Felt. A buddy had a dark red felt table, in worse shape, that was going to have the felt replaced and brought his back too.     • Surprisingly effective.
Now that I have been using this product for a few months now, I want to give a update review. The cleaning tool still works very well, and much easier to clean all of the chalk off the table than using a brush. The only shortcoming is that when small fiber 'dust' inevitably come off the cloth, it does not get picked up by this tool. This tool is very effective in picking up the chalk dust, but not the fiber dust. And since I no longer use a traditional brush on my table, the micro size fibers just stay on the table. And after a while, the fibers will start sticking to the cue ball due to the static on the ball as it rolls around. So every now and then, you would have to vacuum the table to get rid of all of the little fiber dust. For this reason, I reduce the review score from 5 to 4 stars. I don't write reviews often, but feel like I need to comment on this product. This was expensive for a "brush", but I was pleasantly surprised how well this works. I do have Simonis cloth on my table, and this tool works like a dream. Really easy to clean up chalk on the table, and so little effort compared to brushing the table the old fashion way. So I find that I just clean up my table now every time I am done using it. The table is always neat and clean. After I used this for a while, I decided that cleaning the 1/4 of the table at a time, and brushing the cloth towards the foot of the table before moving to the next quarter is easy that the instructions suggest of cleaning the whole table first, and then going back and stroke the cloth towards the foot of the table. The cleaning surface is easy clean with a vacuum cleaner, although the the corners are likely going to stay the color of your chalk. What I don't know yet is if the cleaning surface will wear out one day, and if it can be replaced if it does. All in all, I am quite pleased with the result. ... show more
