My husband goes through ice when he is home on the weekends, like it's going out of style. Everyone complains because we had to buy extra bags on weekends just so we could get some. But my freezer is too packed now, so I purchased this machine for his use. It's great because when we are outside, he can bring it out on our porch (no more Honey, can you run in and get me another thing of ice?) so when he's doing yard work, I don't get called from whatever I'm doing to run, and he's not running in and out with yard debris on his feet! It makes a good amount of ice and it's not noisy. It does NOT keep the ice frozen....it freezes and drops in the bin. As it melts, it refreezes into cubes. They are hollow, that's why they freeze so quickly, but they do the job they need to do. He loves the machine and was excited to get it as an early birthday gift. (I didn't know he'd been looking at the same one for a few days) ... show more

This is good for one or two users or for stockpiling ice. I can make a gallon Ziplock bag of ice in an evening. It will keep up with my chronic iced tea addiction just fine. It was cheaper than repairing the icemaker in my fridge. I think it was a good bargain given the price of ice and the high quality of my well water. Any ice that melts goes back through the machine to make more. We have not run out since we bought this, and no more buying bags of ice for our beverages. Basket is small doesn't hold as much ice as I expected also you have to remove the ice and basket in order to refill water supply which I thought was weird..also the ice is wet all the time as of the ice maker is barely keeping it cold enough to stay frozen which causes the ice to them melt and refresh together. It does make ice quickly but that's about the only pro I can think of. ... show more

This little item is not only small, stable and fit most countertops, it makes lots of ice in a matter of an hour. No more waiting for hours or going to the store for ice.
