Original review: I just got home and opened this and am SO disappointed at the color. I paid EXTRA and waited LONGER for shipment only to find that it's NOT silver stainless steel. It's enough of a tint of aqua / blue that I thought it had a blue film on it but it's not - it's the color of the appliance. UPDATE: It IS a blue film - but it's so integrated that you would never know it. The company has now updated their product description on Amazon to explain that it is a protective film that must be peeled off. I have not taken it off yet as I'm still testing the product. So far it's a nice device but a little loud for me - not the sound of ice dropping but the whirring of the fan. With all the fans and air conditioners running in this heat it blends in - but once the season changes it will be running louder than my fridge. I will note a few things that others have posted: 1) the first batch of ice is 'weak' as the compressor has to come to temperature. 2) you DO need to remove the ice rather quickly and get it to your freezer and it IS quite wet which makes it clump together once in the colder temps of the freezer. To fix this I'm storing ice in a large Ziploc bag which I can bang on the counter easily to break it up as I add batches. 3) it was nice to leave it for a nap and wake up to a bunch of ice but if you left it too long it would just melt and regenerate. 4) I don't know if I could stand it running 24 hours a day but one person mentioned that helps the machine last longer. I would love to know what customer support says on that there's nothing in the booklet about it. 5) you do need to keep it pulled away from side and back walls - there are fans on both sides and an air Intake on the back. Keep this in mind. 6) the plug in the bottom (for draining during cleaning) is a little flimsy and feels like cheap plastic that could easily break. It's awkward blindly twisting it back in as you can't see what you're doing - and hoping you secured it before pouring more water in. 3 stars with it's limitations, watery ice and whirring sound that I wish were quieter. Wish they insulated the top just a little more to keep the ice from melting longer. But overall nice little machine. Will update rating and post if anything noteworthy changes... 8/7/24 Great size. Love this ice maker when I first got it. Now that we are going into year 2 its giving me issues. I have tried water and white vinegar mixture to clean the ice maker. Even after making 3 baskets of ice with vinegar in them, it won't make regular ice. I have been fighting with this thing for several months. Just hate to buy another ice maker. ... show more

Great little unit!

I bought this because I had eye surgery and I needed very small cubes to fit and move around easy inside the ice pack bags. Bigger cubes I had to kill with a hammer to make small pieces. So I don’t know what I’m gonna do with it once my recovery is over, but this is perfect for that use. only issue is that by the time I get the small ice cubes into a container and into the freezer it is difficult to not have a layer of ice in the bottom because the cubes are so small they melt very quickly if you don’t get them into the freezer fast enough. But that is no fault of the unit. So yes, I’ll be keeping this little gem I’m sure I’ll find someone who can borrow it in the future. ... show more

I’ve had a good experience so far. The production (of ice) is timely and reasonable in my opinion. But don’t expect it to fill the bucket up if you don’t fill the water as you go. I haven’t cleaned it yet but that’s the only thing that (so far) would keep it from a 5 if it’s cumbersome. *edit 8/26- recently the fans (or something inside) has started making noise when producing ice.
