  • Get buff on the cheap!
I bought this thing mainly to be able to do my favorite exercise in the world, dips. Indeed this machine does allow me to do them and do so comfortably. As far as pull ups go, the bar is very sturdy and the inside grip for chin ups are very soft and comfortable. I've seen many others complain about the comfort of the other hand grips on the dip and wide pull up sections, but I've found no such issues with them and they feel perfectly fine to me. If you are getting this thing to perform leg lifts, just know that this machine is at a perfect 90 degree angle and you will need to train your feet not to hit the back support which is kind of annoying but workable. If that matters to you, you should consider buying another tower that is angled back so your legs can over extend for a fuller range of motion. Now on to what's in the box and putting this thing together. Everything you've heard about the nuts and bolts is true. The unit was very nicely packaged accept for the nuts and bolts which were not even in a bag, but looked like they were shrink wrapped in a cluster very poorly. Some pieces got loose inside the box and I had to take out all of the pieces just to find everything. That being said every piece was accounted for so there was nothing missing. The unit does NOT come with any kind of cheap wrench set to put this thing together so you will need some tools. You will need a 17mm and 14mm socket or wrench. There are plenty who have complained that this unit is wobbly. I can say that it is not if you properly tighten everything. It's best and easiest if you use an impact driver so you can easily lean in on the bolts. You should tighten the bolts until you see the metal frame bow inward a bit. Do that and it will not wobble. Lastly, and the reason why this until only gets 4 stars and not 5 is the massively poor decision to use the same bolts that are used everywhere else on the machine on the very bottom where the feet. The problem is that the head on these bolts are way too thick and protrude out past the rubberized feet on the bottom of the unit causing the rubber feet themselves to be completely useless and will cause the entire unit to wobble and scratch the floor underneath. You can combat this by really sinking the bolts into the metal to the point where they are no longer in the way (which is easy with an impact driver) or you will need to put something under the rubber feet to raise the unit up off the ground about a quarter of an inch so the bolts that stick out on the bottom never touch the floor. What they really needed to use were carriage bolts on the underside instead of regular ones. Overall I'm very happy with mine. It was cheap and it gets the job done well. But if any of the things I mentioned about give you pause, you should look for a different unit that costs just a little more that may suit your needs much better. ... show more

  • great product for $100
Pros: -The product is sturdy and strong, an unmatched value for the price compared to alternative options - nice grips and padding, not cheap looking/feeling -smaller footprint compared to other options. fits neatly in the corner of the room and the product configuration allows a variety of exercises to be performed Cons: - The package took a month to arrive and had to be shipped on 3 different occasions because the packaging was damaged- I'm not sure who to blame but this wasn't very good. - bought a socket set to put together the tower as the provided tools were awful- i think the bolts are 5/8 -directions were terrible, but it is pretty intuitive to get together. despite these facts, I would still highly rate this product and it was a great deal at $90. I might consider alternative mainstream brands for equipment if the product were priced higher however. for a budget college student buy this item is nice ... show more

  • Watch for metal shavings- good for the money
Construction: I would consider myself a advanced builder if things lol. This took me around 1hr 45mins to build. ***lots of loose metal shavings in the tubes that will spill all over the floor. Beware and prepared to sweep up. The directions are super basic and you have to semi determine which bolts go where. All pieces where there and it assembled easily. I would advise grabbing a 17mm socket to speed things up. The armrest and the back support have a seam that should face down and to the back to look better as well. Pros: Sturdy, and easy to adjust, comfortable and versatile Cons: had a cross thread or inadequately threaded hole for 1 quick release. I retreaded it to fix it. Lots of metal shavings in the pieces. Poor directions, the leg bar hit when doing leg raises. ... show more

  • Solid and Versatile
I bought the PowerTower to be able to learn to do pull ups / chin ups. The order arrived on reasonable time, the outer cardboard box was slightly damaged however everything inside was intact and the set was complete including the screws. It does not come with wrenches however need just a combination of two wrenches or pliers to set it up. The individual parts are heavy however I was able to assemble single handed in about an hour. I am unable to do pull ups yet because it will take time to build up however in the meantime I discovered other multiple uses of this versatile system. Besides hanging on the bar building towards pull ups, I have been using this system for pushups, dips, ab crunches, use various poles and bars for upper extremity stretches and some handles and knobs for pressure points. Having this compact system at home, allows me to perform small bursts of workout / stretches anytime during the day, which is a great advantage. There was one small problem which however was solved by putting a question on Amazon, and several generous folks replied to help solve; within one of the hollow arms there was an elevated piece of welding material (picture) which prevented fitting the corresponding part. I was able to chisel this away using a metal filer. ... show more

  • Great power tower for the price
This power tower is a great value at the price I paid. It is sufficiently sturdy, and works great for pull ups, dips, leg lifts, and push ups. It feels completely solid when doing pull ups. There is a little bit of squeaking when doing dips, probably because of a little play in the adjustment mechanism. When stepping up for dips, I have to remember to step on the frame and not the push up handles. The push up handles don't seem designed strong enough to support repeated stepping on. I use it everyday for quick exercises, and so far, it's been dying great for that. ... show more
