  • GOOD JOB SIGHTMARK!!!
Style: CSR Color: Black
I bought one of these sights last month and like it so much I picked up another. The CSR versions of the Wolverine are smaller, lighter and more compact than the FSR versions. The build quality, finish, and features are outstanding. Sight mark did an excellent job in designing this, creating a good-looking, fully functional, feature-laden sight at a very reasonable price. Mounted on a Mini-14 and a M&P 15-22, both have performed flawlessly. Here's what I've found during my last few range trips: Pros: -The rubber armoring is a nice touch. It adds extra protection to the entire sight body except for a small area around the objective lens. -The sight is fully digital, with buttons well placed and easily accessible. -The glass is plenty bright and clear, devoid of the dark lens coatings other sights possess. -The 4 moa dots are very clear and crisp. The 10 brightness settings (2 for NV) adjust accordingly. 8-10 are so bright I bet most folks won't even need them, IMO. In fact, I didn't have to go above setting 3 while using my sights. Holding the "up" arrow for 5 seconds shuts the sight off. -Brightness/illumination controls are easy to operate and provide audible, tactile clicks. -Both the elevation/windage and battery caps have a rubber o-ring to keep dust and moisture out. I could literally feel these working, grabbing the caps when I loosened and tightened them. Hence the IP67 rating against dust and water. -All caps are tethered to prevent loss. -The windage/elevation adjustments are clearly marked, provide audible, tactile clicks, and performed accordingly. I had no issues zeroing on my rifles. Adjust corrections were spot on and stayed put. -The sight comes with both and low mount and riser, ready to fill multiple roles on various guns. -Battery life is measured in tens of thousands of hours, user and brightness setting dependent of course. -It has a 12-hour shutoff built in to save battery life. Unfortunately this is not adjustable. -Both arrived new in box with Energizer Ultimate Lithium AA batteries, not the cheap, single color jobs we are used to! lol This seriously floored me! And common, everyday, household type batteries, too? Who'd have thunk it! -The mount is very strong and thought out. It incorporates a washer, a locking washer, a locking hex nut, and pressure springs inside of the mount exerting outward pressure. Both of mine tightened up very securely and I can assure you they are not going anywhere. CONS: -As is often the case with budget dots, the emitter is slightly visible, in this case from the 3:30 to 5:00 position. It's very similar to that which you see in the highly successful Bushnell TRS-25, and like with that sight, does not interfere at all with operation and shooting. -No flip up lens covers, although there is a well designed bikini cover. Now truth be told, I don't own any high end, top-of-the-line Aimpoint or EOtech sights. I do, however, own several other sights for my various rifles and shotguns, all "budget" dots.....Ultradot 30MM, Vortex (Strikefire and Sparc), Bushnell (1x28 and TRS-25), Holosun micro, Sig Sauer mini dot, and the new Hi-Lux Micro Max B dot (excellent sight, BTW). Honestly, this Sightmark CSR brings initial quality and features to the table similar, and in many cases exceeding, those of my aforementioned sights. In closing, I highly recommend this sight to those who want good quality and features minus the top end price. I'm quite certain you won't be disappointed. UPDATE 1-23-16: I took them both out today at -15 here in interior Alaska, a temp most folks will never experience let alone shoot in! lol I was impressed enough to move the Mini's CSR to one of my ARs Both sights were subjected to this temperature for over 2 hours and performed flawlessly yet again. Heck, I own a couple Vortex Strikefire sights that become problematic at temps under 20, flickering, turning on and off, failing altogether until warmed up, etc. No issues of that sort with these Wolverine CSR sights, which continue to amaze. UPDATE 2-22-16: Last week I removed my AR's Wolverine CSR so I could verify a scope I have zeroed to this weapon. This morning I remounted the CSR and swung by the range, placing a 4" paster at 75 yards. Blam, blam, blam,.....3 rounds center mass, all within 1.5" of point of aim. Very impressive! This, combined with it's overall features and ability to withstand sub-zero temperatures, has me stunned. Why can't all of Sightmark's offerings perform on this level? FINAL UPDATE (And then I'll shut up!): I discovered something interesting today. If you own a Sig Sauer STS-081 red dot or the nearly identical ITAC Defense red dot, or have a friend who does who'd be willing to help, the included ARD/killflash that comes with those sights will fit the Wolverine CSR PERFECTLY! I kid you not, it's as though they were made for one another. Having both sights out at the same time, and seeing the CSR's objective lens threads, I thought what the heck. The kill flash screwed right in, no problem. Crazy, huh? Just something for others to think about! OKAY, I LIED: My third CSR arrived today. Sightmark has made some changes. The box is larger with more foam padding, the rubber armoring is of a flatter matte color, and best of all they are now using torx screws in the base vs. the tiny allen screws on the early sights. Like most folks I'll take torx over allen screws any day of the week. ... show more

  • Great product and price
Style: CSR Color: Dark Earth
I absolutely love this Sightmark Wolverine 4 moa red dot. I read at least 20 reviews, both pros and cons, as well as YouTube video reviews Check for yourself) you can NOT buy a better quality red dot rifle product of this quality for less than $150. to $175. It checks all the boxes, except for one (am not going to ding it a star for that minor issue. It is heavier than the average or more expensive or poorer quality red dots on the market. But it's size and weight testify to its quality and durability. Who really notices a few ounces here and there. My 10.5 inch this optic, Core lower, PSA drop-in trigger, PSA stainless steel barrel/M-Loc covered upper, 45degree IRON sights, and lightweight Magpull furniture, AND a full polymer mag is still under 8 lbs. I highly recommend you check this product out. I have Sig Suer Romeo 5 and a similar build and this Sightmark only lacks shake-awake but looks and feels better. My opinions for whatever they're worth. Know your needs, do your homework, build it right (don't cheep out!), TRAIN OFTEN, and stay alive while having fun. God Bless America and you! ... show more

  • Reliable Performance with Room to Refine
Style: FSR Color: Black
The Sightmark Wolverine Red Dot Sight offers solid build quality and dependable accuracy for the price. The sight holds zero well and the battery life is impressive even with regular use. The brightness settings are easy to adjust and the lens clarity is good in most lighting conditions. It mounts securely and feels rugged enough for outdoor use. While the reticle could be sharper and the controls a bit more intuitive, it still delivers consistent performance for range shooting and tactical setups. A strong mid-tier option for shooters who want durability without breaking the bank. ... show more

  • GREAT red dot sight - blows away the "budget" competition.
Style: CSR Color: Black
Received my Sightmark Wolverine CSR last night and I'm extremely impressed. Range time will tell for sure, but so far it looks like a bargain for only $129 delivered to my door. I've owned or used almost every model of Aimpoint, EOTech, and ACOG at some point in time, as well as several of the popular $99-$399 "budget" red dot/prism/reflex sights from Primary Arms, Holosun, Burris, and Vortex, and this one blows away the rest of the "budget" competition. If you slapped a Burris or Vortex sticker on this sight, people would pay $300 for it all day long, and then come here to brag about what a good deal they got. Initial observations: Sight comes in a high quality heavy weight cardboard box with full color printing and matte finish that clearly looks like it was designed and printed in the US - just as fancy as anything from Aimpoint or Trijicon. Not the usual flimsy paper thin box with glossy finish and broken English that you're used to budget red dots arriving in. The inside is padded with static free high density foam, with a cutout for the sight and accessories. Once again, the owner's manual is of the same quality you would expect from the American or European manufacturers. Also included with the sight is a picatinny mount with riser and 2 sets of screws, allen wrench, cleaning cloth, really nice bikini cover, and Energizer ultimate lithium battery. Likes: Sight appears to be high quality and heavy duty. Completely sealed, nitrogen purged, fogproof, waterproof. Well built, fit and finish is excellent, all the machining and threading is flawless and free of tool marks. The rubber armor and retention lanyards on the caps is a nice touch. Glass is clear and I love how it doesn't have the blueish or orangish tint that most other budget sights have. Also love that the power and brightness adjustments are buttons (easy to press, distinct and audible clicks) instead of the Aimpoint style wheel. Windage and elevation adjustments also have distinct and audible clicks. Dot is crisp and bright, 50,000+ hour battery life on setting 6 (which is more than bright enough for most conditions), truly parallax free, unlimited eye relief, automatic shut off after 12 hours. Dislikes: So far, my only 2 complaints are the same 2 complaints I've seen mentioned in some of the other reviews that were otherwise positive... 1. It's pretty heavy for a micro/compact red dot (~10oz vs. ~6oz for a Aimpoint micro T1 with mount and battery). Some of that is due to the mount (which is solid as a rock, wish there was a slimmed down option available) and the fact that it uses a AA battery instead of some little watch battery (which I appreciate, the convenience is worth the extra weight there IMO). 2. The emitter is visible around 4-5 o'clock, about as much as it is on Holosun and Primary Arms red dots. Not a huge deal, you forget about it and don't really notice it once you start playing around with it and focusing on what you're aiming at. Sure, it would be nice if it wasn't visible at all, but you're not gonna find that unless you spend a few hundred more dollars. Barring a complete meltdown once I get a chance to take it to the range, I would definitely recommend the Wolverine CSR to a friend and will be buying another if I build any future AR pistols or rifles that aren't high speed low drag enough to justify a $600+ sight. Will update this review with performance results after I have time to put it through its paces. ... show more
