FI'll start right off by saying I am very satisfied with this product. This Shop Vac Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner looks and feels like a well designed and well constructed product. It feels rugged which I think is important for something that you you could bang around while moving it around the house. All the components (clean and dirty water tanks, cleaning tools/fittings, etc. fit together and operate nicely. Although the instruction manual does leave a bit to be desired (don’t they always nowadays), overall I found this machine fairly simple to setup; simple and effective to operate; and easy to clean when the job is finished. After initially receiving, unpacking and setting up the unit, I used it to clean a number of spots I had in various places on the wall to wall carpet in our bedroom, office and craft room. Nothing too major but enough to give the system a good test. I also used it to clean a number of spots on a couple of large area rugs. It worked well in all cases. All areas are now clean and all spots are gone. This machine made it very quick and easy work. In the past I’ve always cleaned spots or spills by hand using a spray foam carpet cleaner. Cleaning with this machine is far superior. It not only cleans the area but it then extracts all the cleaning solution and dirt which I always felt was not the case using the manual cleaning method by hand. This for me is a game changer. When I was done, the water in the dirty water tank was a gray/brown and becuase of the vacuum extraction things were left nearly dry. Perfect and what I had hoped for. At this point I don’t have any upholstery that needs cleaning so I can’t share firsthand experience cleaning that, but I do suspect it would make easy work of upholstery also. The small portable nature of the machine also makes it an excellent size for doing that. As a part of my testing, I did put the steam tip/tool on, switched the unit to “steam” and verified that once it heated up it effectively produced plenty of steam which it did. I'm sure the time will come when I'll be glad to have that feature for tough spots or hard to get places. After testing and using the system, the only thing I wasn’t crazy about was how loud this unit is when it is running. Of course it does have a built in vacuum for extraction and vacuums do just tend to be on the loud side especially when you might be on your hands and knees working down next to it. I ended up putting on my hearing protection headset which took care of it. A pair of ear plugs would also work fine. Overall I am very pleased with the design, construction and operation of this machine. It is small portabl and best suited for small to medium areas or spots on carpet or rugs or to clean upholstery. It is also perfect for cleaning automotive upholstery (which I plan to clean come springtime). Overall I feel I can highly recommend this product. Usage Tips: I didn’t find the instruction manual overly helpful so thought I’d share a few tips even though they may be obvious to some: - Once you have the machine up and running squeezing the trigger on the handle dispenses the cleaning solution (or steam depending on the tool and setting you are using). - To clean a spot or area first squeeze the trigger while moving the cleaning tool across the area or spot to be cleaned then release the trigger. - Next gently scrub the spot or area with the bristles located on the bottom of the tool. As you do this, pull the trigger to squeeze out more solution if needed just don’t hold the trigger down for too long or too many times as you could really soak the carpet or upholstery unnecessarily. - Once you have sufficiently cleaned the spot or area press down the cleaning tool against the carpet or upholstery with moderate pressure and move the tool very slowly allowing the vacuum to extract the cleaning solution and dirt along with it. You can watch the dirty water and cleaning foam being extracted through the clear cover on the head of the tool and the dirty water tank will slowly fill with dirty water indicating that the system is working.

The media could not be loaded. This little Shop-Vac steam cleaner works far better than I ever expected from such a little machine. I come from the era of Rainbow steam cleaners (remember those monsters?) and they were mediocre. This one cleans VERY well and is much smaller and easier to deal with. Before I launch into my experience with this, two things you will want to have on hand which do not come with the vac: a rag for holding under the nozzle if you're moving locations and also for cleaning up anywhere you overshot with steam, and a stiff brush for cleaning the brush of the multifunction tool. Mine gets full of dog hair which sticks to it. The video I posted is of me cleaning my dog's beds. I sped them up by 16x so you wouldn't get bored. Both beds had food debris on it from my pups who like to carry their dinner to them to eat. I can take the cover off the fabric bed and wash it but it is super difficult to do because it's so big. The steam cleaner worked great! I used the hot water setting to loosen up the worst of the food bits and then steam cleaned the whole bed. The bed has no odor! It does not smell like dog, or free-toes (you know what I'm talking about), or old food, or anything! I am ecstatic. It took me about 5 minutes to get this bed clean this way as opposed to half a day spent wrestling the cover off, washing it, drying it, and wrestling it back on. This was so much easier and I will be able to keep his bed much cleaner. The second half of the video (also sped up by 16x) is of the elevated bed where my other dog likes to take his dinner. I normally take this bed out and scrub it down once a week or so. Again, a pain, as I have to let it soak to get the food debris off. This steam cleaner cleaned this bed up so easily I almost wanted to cry. Since the bed is mesh there was moisture on the floor underneath the bed which I was able to easily wipe up. I also used this on some old carpet spots (no photos, sorry) and it worked very well on those too. I LOVE that this vac has enough suction to remove the dirt and most of the hot water/steam as I'm working. This is small enough that it's easy to carry from room to room (or dog bed to dog bed, ha!). The only thing I wish this had was a bigger head (or the option to buy one) for cleaning larger areas of carpet. The multi took head works well but it is small and takes a looooong time to do a whole room. The room was very thoroughly cleaned by the time I was finished at least! I certainly consider this a good deal for the dollars. I have previously looked into renting a steam cleaner and by the time I factored in my time spent to get and return one plus the rental fees, it would have cost more. This is well worth it to have my own.

Although they call it a carpet cleaner, it lacks a long wand for cleaning a whole carpeted room. It would be fine to get down on the floor and use the steam and scrubber features for a wine spill on the carpet. I'm going to try cleaning some throw rugs. I hate to put small rugs in the washing machine as their rubber backing usually disintegrates. It's the right size for cleaning an upholstered chair that is grubby from years of use. You could clean the seat covers in your car with this. I want to try it on a mattress and remove a few spots. I'll check to see if a long wand can be ordered to use with this. The machine is small so it is easily stored on a garage shelf or under some shelving in the pantry or a utility closet. The price is similar to other machines of this size and type. It has a one-year warranty.

I bought the Shop‑Vac Portable Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner to clean the seats in my car and my couch, and it worked really well. It pulled up dirt and stains better than my current steam cleaner. Good suction so drying time was cut in half. The steam attachment was also a nice bonus. I used it on the grease buildup around the edges of my stove and it loosened everything up quickly. Just so easy! Overall, I’m really impressed with how versatile and powerful this small machine is. Great for car seats, furniture, and even tough spots around the house
