  • Very effective. Replacement handle helps.
Very effective at lifting compressed carpeting and making it look much better. I can also see debris that has settled deep in the carpet popping up to lay on top to be vacuumed. The handle is pretty wonky, but a $9 replacement wooden handle from Amazon fixed that. You can screw the bottom handle segment back in for stairs, or just buy a handheld version of this device, as I did, for use in compact areas. ... show more

  • LOVE THIS
I bought this specifically to help me get more of my dogs hair out of the carpets. It seems to work very well as I'm seeing more hair come into the vacuum. I was skeptical on purchasing this carpet rake due to the reviews talking about how easy it breaks. So far, not a problem for me. The strength of the handle can't be used to determine this carpet rake because it depends on how much pressure other people were putting on this rake. It is very simple to use, I rake once, vacuum, then rake again. The size is pretty average which is nice because I think if the handle was shorter or longer than it's current size, that it would be awkward to handle. Lol it can actually be kind of relaxing to me when raking the carpet, I don't know why. I would recommend this carpet rake to anyone. ... show more

  • Eh, it works as you would expect. Fluffed my old dingy carpet temporarily.
My carpet is old and needs to be replaced. This helped fluff the fibers and also raked out dog hair, though I wasn't as impressed as I hoped I would be. All in all, it serves its purpose and does what you would think it would. Reason for 4 stars: The handle sucks, It falls apart easily. Its made in separate pieces, i think to make shipping easy, but it is not strong once put together. Luckily, I used an old broom handle and it solved my problems. ... show more

  • Can you rake too much???
This rake was exactly what I was looking for. It definitely does help with matting and will make your carpets look better and fluffier! I’ve been obsesses with it, using it everyday. I wish I would have found this sooner!! I do see what people mean about the handle being kind of flimsy however I am 6’2”, 190 and use a decent amount of force without any issues or breaks. Do yourself a favor and get this product. I will probably get another one!! ... show more

  • Very good...
I like this rake as it has a 3 piece handle. As it turns out there are places like stairs where the full length handle is awkward to use. The only concern I have is how well the combs will hold up. My previous rake (well over 10 years old) had combs that were a little bit more rigid and they never broke, they simply wore down a little from use so I thought it was time to replace. So far I haven't had any issues with the new one and it seems to rake the carpet well. So it's unfair to say it won't hold up long term. I'll update the review in a couple of months after I've had chance to use it around the house on all the carpets and rugs. BTW, a carpet rake is a great tool. I've never had one rip out any threads etc and they absolutely do bring the spring back into carpets and rugs. I also found that if I vacuum a carpet/rug and them rake, just before I use my Bissel carpet shampooer, that really helps a huge deal in cleaning deep. I should also note I have not tried a rake on a shag pile carpet. So I cannot say if it would work on one of those. UPDATE: After 2 weeks usage I docked 2 stars. The rake does work and works well but the 3 part handle locking design is a really poor design. Considering the effort you need to rake a carpet, no way this handle would hold up for long. In my case, the top section on mine keeps popping out. I've tried tightening more but too much effort and it pops out also. Maybe I just have a "bad" one. This looks like a standard handle thread so I may look around for a better handle elsewhere but for what the product is, without a solid working handle, it's not what it's advertised to be. ... show more

  • Easy to use and light exercise
Works great! I have cheap “shag” carpeting in my new apartment and it gets crushed down so fast and makes the whole place look like crap. I take my little rake and with a few swipes it looks new again! Now, my plan is to make a small pathway in and out of every room so I’d have to just fix that line…….. I’ve never been OCD before but this carpet is THAT CHEAP and awful lol ... show more

  • Great, sturdy area rug rake
Bought for an area rug that my dogs use, it's 7 ft x 7 ft. Kind of fluffy rug,. This rake assembled easy and sturdy enough to rake with no problems handle length is perfect, I'm 5'5.

  • Fluffs up the carpet!
For sure what I needed! Every place I’ve ever lived has had flat berber carpets which I’ve grown to hate. So recently when I was able to replace my carpet with something a bit fluffier I was super happy. However, it quickly flattened out in the high traffic areas. Doing some research I found this rake and have decided carpet rakes are the best thing ever. Pros: The actual rake itself is durable and you can push and pull the carpet back to its near-full fluffiness. It also brings up a lot of dog hair that my vacuum wasn’t catching. Cons: The handle is NOT sturdy. Instead of it being one piece it’s 3 that screw together and boy can I already feel that thing breaking. I actually took the top 2 pieces off and just use the bottom one while sitting on the floor. It works great that way but it’s not as designed, I’m sure. Also I get why that wouldn’t be comfortable for people. (Also also I saw lots of reviews mentioning the lack of assembly instructions and yes it doesn’t have them. However, you just screw the pieces together logically. It doesn’t really need them.) Overall, this is super satisfying to use and it really does fluff up the carpet while grabbing lots of hair. However, the handle design is awful. Unfortunately, you either have to use the bottom part only or replace the whole handle. ... show more
