The cost efficient way to clean large carpeted areas is to first remove the spots and stains with the BGFS5000 portable scrubber, and then go over the entire area with a box style carpet Extractor, without having to worry about cleaning the heavily stained spots. The portable scrubber comes with a set of white carpet brushes to start with, and other accessories are sold separately. Comes with a 1 year warranty on parts and labor. BiSSEll BigGreen BGFS5000 Portable Two Brush Floor Scrubber & Polisher Given so many low customer ratings for this machine, we were apprehensive about buying one. As it turned out, our machine has none of the problems cited by so many others. Perhaps Bissell’s Chinese manufacturer redesigned a few parts to work better? - machine is a virtual clone of the Sears floor cleaner that we owned and loved for 25 years (which eventually failed – and no parts are available for it). - the brand new BFGS500 arrived fully assembled with all parts (all of the listed pads and the pad clips). There’s nothing to do except remove the plastic wrap and cardboard – and use it. - these new models no longer require a customer to install a “switch box” that so many complained about. An on/off switch is built-in. It’s only one speed, but we only used “high” on that old Sears scrubber. - the 8-notch brushes snap (with a firm push) securely onto the hub at the machine’s bottom. For spare stiff brushes, search Amazon on “Koblenz 6 Inch Scrub Brushes with 8 Notch Hub 4502332" - the liquid container on our machine is fine. It doesn’t leak and it snaps into the machine’s chrome post, lining up perfectly with the slot on the open-close controller. - the 35' cord should be sufficiently long for most jobs – it’s almost too long for us. - we bought it to clean our Azek deck – much easier than cleaning by hand. - negatives ... some of the plastic parts should be thicker / stronger – such as the green liquid container cover (reads “Heavy duty - commercial”) – that part is fragile. ... machine will tip over backwards, so it has to be held onto or rested on something. ... OK for occasional homeowner use, but no way is this a “commercial” quality machine. It wouldn’t last. ... avoid buying a “used” machine. Well lets cover various ponts! 1-Delivery Way before the Covid-19 issue Amazon Prime is purposely delaying all Prime packages at least 10 days before initiating the order fulfillment process to all orders from Puerto Rico! I did order this scrubber on August 3, 2020 and it was delivered on August 23,2020. Almost 21 days when in the states would have been delivered on August 8,2020. Hey every night around 12:30 AM Prime Air lands a 737 full of cargo in SJU international Airport in Puerto Rico. Simply put, Amazon is delaying Prime service to Puerto Rico. 2-The Scrubber came with 2 sets of different brushes, 3 sets of different pads. 35 ft. of cable and works great. It arrived fully assembled. 3-Proven design. To my surprise it is exactly like my 30 year old scrubber bought from Sears, see picture. With Sears I tried to get a replacement dispenser canister that was not "available" to my surprise it is still manufactured. Both machines are made by the same manufacturer, Koblenz. The differences? The new one is a Commercial Model double insulated OSHA compliant, single speed. The old Scrubber has three speeds , that and the cable are the only differences. 4- Use- This scrubber is used to clean, scrub and polish 50+ year old Terrazo in 2600 sq. ft. home. Based on previous experience with the old model, I believe that I can recommend the vastly improved new model. ... show more

I have vinyl floors that look like wood. I have used other cleaners throughout the 9 years we have been here. From steamers, a Bissell floor cleaner, to wet moping and dry mopping afterward. Nothing was getting them clean. I have a daughter in wheel chair & dogs. It gets dirty. I was like I’m going to have to replace these floors in next couple of year. Well this was my last cleaner I was going to buy. I wanted one that had scrubbers but not evasive enough to ruin my floors. This thing works!! If you need a cleaner for hard floors get this!! I’m seeing magic before my eyes. Getting them back to the original color!! You can see in picture the cut off. ... show more

    • Powerful Machine – But Be Ready to Figure It Out Yourself
The Bissell BigGreen BGFS5000 works great once you get the hang of it. It’s powerful, cleans well, and feels solidly built. We’ve used it on multiple floor types and it handled everything like a champ. That said, the instructions were pretty vague and not very helpful. It took some trial and error to get everything set up and running properly. Once we figured it out, though, it’s been smooth sailing. If you’re okay with a bit of a learning curve, this is a great machine that delivers excellent results. ... show more

    • EH, I expected a better quality machine for what it cost me.
Pros. It does its job with a little tinkering and jerking around. Cons. Unit doesn't look like it will last more then a month. I think Bissel spent 32 seconds on R&D with this thing. It actually looks like my wife put it together. Its cocked to the side, the fluid dispensing lever doesn't work , I have to pull the cable to get the cleaner to dispense fluid instead of the actual level that's "designed" to do it. Honestly , if it was priced at $19.99? I would buy it and not complain. This heavy price tag for the junk I received is deplorable. ... show more

    • awesome little machine
Still might read the instructions (it's a guy thing). But the machine is sturdy, and I finished one room and cleaned the floor in another room already. The only thing I would need to read the instructions for is to figure out what the plastic tabs on the back of the machine are for, looks like it's a cord wrap, but pretty sure the metal taps / hooks are for that. So, it was well packaged, all the stuff you need other than electricity and some floor cleaning solution. Once you get it out of the box and take the protective packing and bags off it's ready to mount a set of brushes and go, it's that easy. Very happy with the purchase. No carpets here so I don't know how it would do for a carpet deep cleaning, but if taking the dirt off of laminate floor is any indication, it would do an excellent job. ... show more
