I just took this mat out for the first time today to zero a rifle and didn’t want to be laying in the snow and mud. Worked great. This has been one of my most useful purchases. The mat is not there to be the most comfortable, but it is compact. The elbow and knee pads help to keep those boney joints protected from roots and rocks, the rest you might need to make your own padding. The mat folds and rolls up to a convenient size. If your packing through the woods, the light weight and l ow profile are useful. I also keep my mat in the trunk of my car, because it can be very useful if you have a road side emergency that requires you to do any work on the ground. You can also use it on concrete benches at outdoor ranges to protect you rifles and elbows form scuffs. So glad i purchased.

This rating is based on my initial impressions and assessment of this shooting mat. If my opinion is changes after using it on the cold concrete/dirt of the range for a few hours I will amend it. The Amazon box I received it in was really beat up, but the packaging of the mat was not impacted in any way by Amazon's attempt to save the planet. The mat itself is made of some really heavy 1000 denier material similar to what I have in my motorcycle riding gear. It looks like it will stand up to a lot of heavy use, but it probably won't get that from me. I just wanted something that would be comfortable enough to keep sharp rocks and sticks from poking me and keep me reasonably dry if I happen to get in a wet or dewy spot. Setting it up and re-stowing it is a breeze. It is lightweight and easy to carry along with all my other gear. And, there was one other thing that made me believe this company really cares about its product...it had a zip lock bag included when I unfolded it that is exactly the right size to give a little extra protection to the mat when it is folded up. Completely unexpected, but that's the kind of attention to detail that I like to see. Sometimes it's the little things...

Good material, stitching is tight, comfortable to lay on, compact and mat folds back up easily, which to me are the most important aspects. Additionally, size of the mat is awesome. I'm 6'1" and about 260. I fit nicely on the mat with no issues at all. Other mats I have used were very narrow and one of my elbows always seemed to slip off. But not problems here. Prefect addition to my gear. If there was anything I would change, I would just be nitpicking. And that would be the straps being able to disconnect or a small pocket to tuck them into. As I said just nitpicking. Bottom line just an awesome mat.
