The only reason it's four stars is because it's relatively cheaply made and seems a bit flimsy. However, it does stay in place in my window and I'm not moving it so it works for what I need it for. It works very well actually and I love that I can control it from my bed with the remote control. It does just what I needed to do which is take warm air out and bring cooler air in. Especially helpful while I'm sleeping to keep the room comfortable. I believe this could work in any room obviously. I do recommend this product.

We live in a 100-year-old apartment building with no ventilation fans in either the kitchen, for cooking, or bath, after showers. Plus in this age, ventilation is part of good health strategies. So, for years we have had double-fan, low-profile fans in our kitchen window to air out the kitchen, bath, and/or whole apartment. But they never have fit quite right against the double-hung window nor the sides. They have been hard to get in and out of the window, when opening then re-closing the window. And they clog up with dust in our inner suburban, congested town--and at best are hard to dis-assemble and re-assemble to clean (in the bathtub, the only place big enough for the job). They have all been 7-inch fan blades. I scrolled through all the pages Amazon offered and finally came across this one, which works wonderfully, and has been for a few months now. Our window is 36" wide, and this fan extends wide enough, with extenders that work smoothly and do not keep moving around. It has 9" fan blades which, on high, are no noisier than any other window fan on high, but pulls air through very well. It has a simple design--so it is unobtrusive and I hope will be easier to clean. It has a wide enough top to accommodate our window resting on it and a handle grip to get it in and out of our window comfortably. It is quite a bit lighter than our previous fan (which still worked, sort of, but needed cleaning, which I was done with). We only use it for out-flow, and there is the only quirk, which may be the fan, or may be me not being able to figure out how it works. It always starts in in-flow, so you have to start it on low, then push the direction button once right away, and the fans slow and reverse the flow to outflow, at which point we press the speed button to get it to high. It seems to have no problem with changing direction like that, but it would be nicer if it remembered that we only use out-flow. That being said, because I have never heard of this manufacturer, and do not know how long they will exist or how long Amazon will carry this item, I am ordering another one right now to store for that day when I will need to replace this fan, since they do not last forever.

I've been using window fans for years and I think they're one of the best purchases. It started around 5 years ago when Costco had a sale on the Bionaire twin window fan. We installed it at the kitchen window and would usually turn it on at around 5:30 pm when the air outside is cooler than inside. It dropped the inside temperature very quickly and made a huge difference. I moved it to the bedroom before I go to sleep so I can get cool air inside also. Although it does a good job in cooling the entire room - I find it a little loud for me. It is a powerful fan and it's working hard to pull a lot of cool air in - and it works perfect in the kitchen and before I sleep, but it's just a bit hard for me to fall asleep at this noise level. It doesn't bother my husband but I'm more sensitive to noise, hence my search for a quieter window fan began. I searched online and read reviews/watched videos for more than 10 fans before finally deciding on this one. It worked! I have no problem falling asleep with this Shinic. Another thing that I like about this fan is that it's thin enough that I can put it on the window frame, yet I can still close/latch my plantation shutters window and open the shutters. It is also pretty light so I can remove/install every day. Husband says this fan is quieter probably because it's less powerful than the Bionaire. This could be true, but the difference is slight and quietness is my priority when I need to sleep. It gets cooler as it gets later into the night so definitely don't need all that power. So now I use the Bionaire the kitchen, while the Shinic stays in the bedroom and they are both doing an awesome job where they're at. The only thing about this Shinic that can be improved is the LCD display is pretty bright just like another reviewer said. I put a piece of masking tape over it and it's fine. Another fan that I tried was Vornado Transom. I returned that one as it was much louder, output area wasn't as wide as these 2 fans plus it's bulky so I can't close my plantation shutter on it.

This was a good fan until it almost started fire in my house and right now I'm trying to reach out to customer service and if they're willing to help get me a replacement then we will go from there and I will check back and update review so check back on this in about two weeks I would say and then hopefully I will no solution there but other than that, I am currently trying to reach out and work a solution out with the seller at the moment!

I thought from the description, it was gonna be one of those where you could set a temperature and It will stay that temperature and I’ll bring cold air in, but it’s not it actually fluctuates the temperature on its own so it really doesn’t keep your room really cold
