  • Unsure at first, but very happy with it now, READ FOR TIPS
Style: 1,500 Sq.Ft with Carbon Filter
I purchased the 30 Pint / 1500 Sq.Ft. Dehumidifier. I had some concerns at first, but am using it full-time now for the past couple months, it is working sufficiently, and I would like to share what I learned. My basement is just over 1000 Sq.Ft. First thing, it was delivered in a box that said "Reconditioned" despite me purchasing a "New" unit. There were absolutely no signs that this wasn't a New unit though, everything had no signs of use, and all the packing / protection tape and plastic was still on the device. I was surprised at how small this is compared to my old one (which is rated for a larger area) (see photo). First issue I had was trying to run the drain line a long distance with 3/8 vinyl tubing. You cannot do this, even with a proper slope downward to your drain. Having too-long of a run of tubing will cause it to get air-locked, and the unit will end up filling up the bucket. My solution was to use a short piece of tubing (approx 4ft long) going straight into a condensate pump, which then pumps the condensate the rest of the distance to my sump (see photo). The next issue I had was with the unit freezing up. Even though the unit calculates defrost cycles based on the temperature in the room, it was not enough for my basement. During the early spring time, my basement was at around 62F with 50% humidity. The coil would freeze up after a couple days. I found out that the button labeled "Inside Drying" is actually just like a Defrost button! It will shut the compressor off but allow the fan to keep running to defrost the coil quicker. Normally this button is used to dry the unit out before you put the dehumidifier away for storage, as to prevent mold growth from moisture inside the unit... but it works perfect as a Defrost button! Once the temperature in my basement got above 65F or so, the unit stopped freezing up and is now able to run constantly without monitoring. I have it set for 40%... it is not able to maintain that, however it is keeping all the musty smell away. It seems to be able to maintain between 50-60% humidity. It will climb higher after getting a lot of rain, but it will then stabilize after a few days. Overall I am happy with the unit, but I think it should be rated for 1000 Sq.Ft. rather than 1500. I would be interested to see how a Name-brand unit rated for 1500 Sq.Ft. compares to this one for the amount of power used. Also I would like to add that I don't use the additional supplied carbon filter, just the main single-layer mesh one. ... show more

  • Effective Dehumidifier with Convenient Wi-Fi Features
Style: 6,000 Sq.Ft. with WIFI
I shopped around for both new and used dehumidifiers and ultimately chose this one. The deciding factor for me was the Wi-Fi capability—since so many devices today come with an app, I figured, why not a dehumidifier? I’ve been using it for a while now, and it has already pulled two tankfuls of water from the air. There's been a noticeable drop in humidity; our gauge now shows levels consistently around 45-50%, compared to 55-60% before. So far, this unit is performing as expected and living up to its intended purpose. I’d definitely recommend it if you’re in the market for a dehumidifier. Hope this helps... Update 7/3: After using the unit for a few days, it became noticeably noisier than it initially was. While it still functioned properly, the noise level—even on the "Low" setting—was excessive and disruptive. Ultimately, we decided to return the item due to the noise it generated. The unit wasn't particularly quiet when we first received it, and we may explore quieter alternatives in the future if they are available. ... show more

  • Auto defrost malfunctions
Style: 1,500 Sq.Ft with Carbon Filter
I’ve had this dehumidifier just over a year (manufacturers warranty is 12 months) and it worked great during that year. The unit is quiet, efficient, and removes adequate moisture from the space it’s in. I keep the filters cleaned regularly. Recently though, I noticed it wasn’t dehumidifying well. I removed the filter covers to expose the rear coils to find a block of ice. I thought it was a fluke at first but it continues to happen routinely to the point it isn’t effectively dehumidifying and is just freezing up. The compressor and fan still work fine but it will no longer automatically defrost. Once ice builds up on the coils and air can’t circulate, it’s useless. Thankfully, knowing the state of manufacturing in the world today and lack of quality products, I purchased the Amazon extended warranty which was well worth it in this case. Buyer beware. Update 12/7/24, I’m on my 2nd machine after the first was replaced under extended warranty. This current machine has started to malfunction with the exact same issues as the first machine. I’m just at around the 8 month mark of use. These are basically foreign made cheap refrigeration junk. Unfortunately, even though there may be different name brands, most of these units all have the same components. Also, unfortunately, being in a “tiny house” I have to stick with this size of a unit as I don’t have space for a larger dehumidifier that might be used in a basement setting. I’ll attempt to contact the seller to replace the current unit as it’s been less than a year and should still be under the manufacturer warranty. Update 12/17/24: Never had a response from manufacturer. I called Amazon who initially just kept saying I need to try reaching the manufacturer to resolve the issue. When I pointed out the fact Amazon allows a company with this sort of business practice to sell to its consumers, then they (Amazon) themselves do nothing to rectify the issue, that is basically telling the consumer we don’t care about you but we want you to keep buying our junk. Amazon ended up allowing me to return the item for a refund, minus a restocking fee which I fought about since I’m returning a non functioning product it should be “restocked” in the trash; they gave me Amazon credit for the restocking fee. I also got refunded the cost of the extended warranty which couldn’t have been used. ... show more

  • Gets the Job Done, But a Bit Messy
Style: 1,500 Sq.Ft with Carbon Filter
I’ve been using it for a week in continuous mode, and it works well so far. The humidity hasn’t dropped below 60%, but on rainy days it went up to 87%, so the sensor seems accurate. It fills the tank every 4 hours, and I have to empty it manually due to where it's placed—not the product’s fault. What I don’t like is that it keeps running when I remove the tank, so I always have to wipe up a few spilled drops ... show more
