Very effective. I purchased to help manage the humidity in my boathouse which is a constant battle because I have an open boat well plus garage storage area (about 800 sq. Ft). This works amazing as it keeps the whole area dry. Before purchasing I had to run fans during humid days to prevent moisture from forming on my cement floor. This works great and no more moisture on my floors (or anywhere else)! Definitely purchase if you have moisture issues as it does the job! Easy to use, easy to empty.

In the past I had great luck using a "home" dehumidifier in my basement in a highly humid environment. It ran continuously all warm season without problems. That one didn't have a condensation pump. I emptied the bucket on it twice a day. I've had this low cost 70 quart dehumidifier with condensation pump running in my 1650 crawlspace now for about 7 months and its doing the job I'd hoped it would--so far. I installed it late last summer when the humidity was 70% plus. I set it to run automatically and to shut off at 40%. I monitored it while it ran continuously for 1-2 days, and soon the humidity was reduced to 40% (actually, my independent humidity meter indicated 42%), and it shut off, coming back on as needed to maintain the set level. The condensation pump and small hose does the job. The pump will cycle on every 5 to 10 minutes during dehumidifier run-times and I am able to see the water being "jetted/blown" through the hose. The hose runs about 15 to 20 feet to a sump pump. The hose doesn't lay flat and the pump does the job anyway. I think that if I had to run the hose up a significant incline or elevation the pump would be able to eject the condensation anyway. The operating manual is poorly written, bad. I had to read and re-read the key parts 10 times to understand what they were trying to say. It is frustrating--and comical. Why wouldn't someone trying to write an instruction guide have another person fluent in the language to be written-in do the writing? Also, it's quiet. I could easily sleep with this noise in my living space. Creates a little heat exhaust, but they all do. Fingers are crossed that it doesn't crap out. Warm weather is just around the corner.

We just received our Shinco 70 Pints Energy Star Dehumidifier with Pump, for Home, Basements, Room up to 7,000 Sq.Ft with Auto or Manual Drainage. Both the box and the owners’ manual came with instructions to be certain the dehumidifier is stored upright for 24 prior to being plugged in and used. We waited more than the 24 hours before plugging it in, as it wasn’t possible to know how the unit was stored or shipped prior to arrival. Pros: - The device is easy to set up. - The instructions were good but could have been a little clearer regarding initially starting the unit. Cons: - The unit appears that it may have been opened previously for two reasons: 1. When it was unboxed, I found the bottom of the box was missing (the corrugated cardboard flaps were missing – see photo). This could be by design so people don’t tip the box upside down to take the dehumidifier out but that wasn’t clear. Plastic shipping straps were used to keep the dehumidifier from falling out the bottom. 2. When the unit was first plugged in, it did not start in “automatic” mode as indicated in the instructions and appeared to return to prior settings and, it began running immediately when it was plugged in rather than needing to press the on button as indicated in the instructions. Not knowing if the unit was used previously is a bit concerning, especially due to the price but, the other packing materials appear to be new and unused. The unit was clean and appears to be working now that I’ve set the desired level to draw moisture out of the air. Note: I’ve yet to test the pump but will update the post if found not to be working. Summary: Very nice unit. Easy to set up. Very similar to our prior 70 pint Frigidaire dehumidifier that worked flawlessly for the past six (6) years. If anyone else has purchased one, I’d be interested to hear if the bottom of their box was also missing.

I ordered two for my basement and whole-house. These units have impressive performance. After a day, they dried out my house. I have a 2,200 square foot ranch with a full basement, and these are working in humid spring weather. These will keep my basement dry, and increase summer air conditioning performance. Warnings/advice: 1) Unbox and stand unit up, then wait 24 hours to power on. This has to do with letting oil and refrigerant drain to correct place. 2) Use integrated pump feature to put condensate in correct place. 3) If unit is icing up, put unit on a daily timer for your custom de-ice mode. For example, unit power cycles off for six hours every 24 hours. 4) Buy the four year Asurion warranty if you burn through dehumidifiers like I do.
