I rarely buy into the new "fad", expensive name brand, hyped up item. However, me and my equally pale husband went to Miami Beach in JULY! We were sure to be miserable but any day at the beach is a great day! We have tried all the failed sun shades over the years as we both burn very easily and hate being miserably hot. But I went ahead and bought this expensive shade and hoped for the best. It was fantastic! So easy to use, worked perfectly with a light breeze and we were very comfortable in the high 80s temp. We were able to hang out for hours without feeling like we would burst into flames! While these are very popular is NC/SC, they have not made their way to FL as much. We had LOCAL MIAMI FOLKS stop and ask us all about it! Now I know why they include business cards in the purchase! (They should give a kick back for advertising for them!) And when it was time to leave, super easy to pack up. No need to leave out to dry or shake off etc, all the problems from umbrellas in the past. We spent several fantastic days on the beach and did NOT burn or burst into flames from the heat! We still used sunscreen, of course, but we were so very comfortable! I bet the temp was several degrees cooler under our awesome shade! And I love the story of it's birth, college students from our home state of NC. Honestly, that was part of the reason I was willing to pay so much for it! I am sure they have made plenty of money by now! It IS a bit over priced considering the simple materials used. No way it comes anywhere near the cost to make. But hey, great idea equals great reward! I tell everyone this is the only shade they ever need to buy! No more chasing umbrellas or 4 point tents down the beach or watching for the terrifying possibility of being impaled by a flying umbrella spike! So yes, it is pricey but worth it!!

I was a little concerned about spending $300+ on a beach shade, but after setting it up for the first time, I became a believer. It literally took me about 3 minutes the first time, and I couldn’t believe how simple and sturdy the whole setup was. I got the large one for our family of three, and it gives us plenty of space. My wife and daughter also find it incredibly easy to set up. The fact that the whole thing weighs under 4 lbs is nuts. The poles feel well-built, and it’s incredibly easy to carry around. You don’t have to overthink or plan your beach setup by bringing stakes, a mallet, or a bunch of extra equipment. Stability was probably my biggest concern before buying it. After the first setup, though, I was seriously impressed by how well-engineered it is. Once the wind catches it, you understand how the design works. The stitching also looks great and feels like good quality. As for the “noise” people mention, I actually find it somewhat soothing when you combine it with the sound of the ocean waves. If anything, it makes it sound like you’re sitting in more wind than there actually is. The amount of shade is also true to the advertised specs. You could easily fit around 8 people with chairs underneath it and still have a comfortable amount of space. One of my favorite things is how open it feels. There aren’t hard bars hanging over you that make you feel trapped or that you have to worry about hitting your head on. At 6’4”, I really appreciate that. Yes, $300+ seemed expensive at first, but after actually using it, I understand why people love these things. It’s lightweight, simple, well-built, and incredibly easy to use. Side note: they do include the wind assist with this purchase.

I had looked at this sun shade several times and decided not to purchase it because we have a beach umbrella. The wind was so bad during our last trip to the beach that we had to leave because the umbrella looked like it was going to break. We've only used this once, but it was so easy to set up and take down. The storage size is minimal so it's great to take camping. The amount of shade that we get is double what we used get with the umbrella. I am very happy with this purchase.

Great Buy I wasn't sure that this would be with the money but it turned out I was wrong. It does cost a couple of dollars but was well worth the price. My whole family was able to get under the shade without any issue. It was simple to set up and take down. The breeze off of the water kept it up so I didn't have to use the No Wind Kit. It is easily stored in its own bag. The material seems to be durable so it shouldn't;t tear or rip like flags tend to do. It was cool and shady under it even with the direct sun and triple digit heat it. I noticed several other beach goers with the sam set up. I know there are only a couple of color options, maybe in the future some others can be added.

My wife and I ride down to the beach on our bikes every weekend in the summer. I am a pale white guy and this canopy has been such a game changer. I typically have to over apply copious amounts of sunscreen because bringing a canopy would be too hard on the bikes. This canopy is super convenient and lightweight. Our first time putting it up took maybe 3 mins, we thought we were going to look stupid like we didn’t know what we were doing, but it was super easy and just worked. Go watch a YouTube video of it, so simple, but has worked every time. Definitely worth it if you want a light weight, easy and portable solution for shade.

When there's wind, it works well. When there's infrequent wind it's worthless. We bought this to use for the week of 4th of July and it was awesome the first two days when there was a consistent offshore wind, but on the 4th itself it became useless. We followed the directions of filling the little sand bags and trying to tie it out and we were just left in the sun and hot. So highly recommend if it's windy but you better have back up options if it's not!

Best purchase! We fit 6 adults and their chairs and bags easily under our shade. So easy to set up with one person and even faster with two. We had high winds and rain during our beach vacation but this held up, we never had to worry about losing our umbrella to wind and didn’t have to take it down. It made for a relaxing trip! While we didn’t stay out on the beach in heavy rain, we did get a light shower and the shade kept us dry. We had to use the wind assist for a few hours one morning so I definitely recommend getting that. It was not loud, the flapping of the wind was about what we used to hear with our umbrella.

Have had this for 3 summers now and would absolutely recommend. I was initially hesitant based on the price, but this is lightweight and is BY FAR the easiest shade to set up. Over the years I've used umbrellas, party tents, tailgating canopies and none are as easy as this. It relies on wind, so don't expect to use this somewhere other than the beach, like at a kids soccer game, for example, unless you have constant wind. Haven't had any issues with it staying up while at the beach, as there's always plenty of wind. If the wind shifts you'll need to move the poles on one side so that it faces the wind. There's a lot of leeway even if you don't, but making adjustments takes all of 10 seconds and very little effort. Also, it does make noise, like a flying flag, so did the umbrellas, tents and canopies I've used in the past. This isn't any worse. It stores easily, is lightweight, easy to haul around, and can be set up and put away with very little effort. The part that takes the longest is putting sand in the bag. It is expensive, but if you go to the beach often, this is well worth the price for the convenience it provides.
