I needed a small vacuum as my upright broke and a friend gave me a canister that was difficult to get up and down the stairs and difficult to store. I have a town home with a lot of stairs and I also have a cat. I vacuum twice a week as well as Swiffer and I needed something that would fit the stairs and that would not give my 14 y/o an excuse not to vacuum. This vacuum was perfect for my needs. It fits the stairs perfectly. I can use it as a handheld and it comes apart easily, very easy to use. Does a good job picking up cat hair, as well as hair from my wood floors. My 14 y/o doesn't seem to mind vacuuming any longer. It also stores nicely. There is a place to hook the hand held piece to the bottom of the vacuum, as it is top heavy. The only drawback is the part where the roller is tends to lock in place when I vacuum if I don't keep the vacuum slanted. Its sort of annoying that I have to keep pushing it down. In the trouble shooting section of the pamphlet, it mentions that if the vacuum shuts off and does not turn on, to let the vacuum rest for a while. I forgot for how many minutes. I can see it overheating as it is small almost feels like a toy, though the hand held part is heavy. I haven't had it for a long time, maybe two months. If anything changes, I'll update this review. ... show more

    • I never knew how dirty my rugs were...
Until I used this, I thought my rugs were clean. The old vacuum seemed to do its job fine. Everything LOOKED clean. Then that vacuum died... and I got this on a recommendation. Oh my goodness... the first time, this thing sucked a TON of crap out of my rugs. Stuff I couldn't see. Stuff I was breathing. Disgusting stuff. The first run, just doing the first floor of my place, mainly hard floors, some carpet, some rugs, I had to empty the bin six times. Full of dust, dirt, and hair I didn't know was there. The inside of the trash can looked like I threw away a dirty medium sized dog. Now, Upstairs and down, I empty the bin three times. Looks like a dusty used cat. This thing works great... it'll suck the teeth out of your head. The self-cleaning roller didn't self clean worth a hoot, though. Not a big deal, as I didn't really expect that particular feature to work. Everything else worked like a champ. Do yourself a favor and go ahead and purchase a few extra filters... that way you can clean a set, and use another set. also, get the Shark branded wall hanger... trust me. ... show more

I was looking for a lightweight vac for my wood and tile floors. I have a heavy, more powerful canister vac, but it's a bit if a hassle to use for quick cleanings. I ordered a "renewed" version knowing that I could return it if unsatisfied. It arrived in great condition and it fits the bill for what I wanted. A bonus for me is the removable handheld vac for tight spots or for vacuuming our cars. It also transitions easily from my wood floors to the low-pile area rugs. The only thing I am adjusting to is that I sometimes lock the stick in an upright position while vacuuming, but a simple tap with my foot releases it easily. ... show more

    • Best vacuum I have ever had!!!!! I never thought I would love vacuuming!
I didn't think I could ever be this excited to vacuum! My husband looks at me like I am crazy. He tried and had to admit it was pretty great too! I have one room with thick/plush carpet and the rest of the house is hardwood. I always had two separate vacuums and was leery that one vacuum could to both jobs as well as the two I had. I was shocked at what a great job it does on the carpet. It is AMAZING to be able to do both with one machine. I have never been able to get under the large sectional that we have (on the plush carpet). I cannot just move it out of the way. Granted I cannot reach all the way to the wall under it, but I can easily get halfway which is where the food and trash usually is anyway. It is SO easy to use the hand vac. Separates easily and makes cleaning up messes from my 5-year-old and 18-month-old. It came in the original Shark packaging and came with the three attachments shown in the picture. The swivel is great to reach around corners and the light is great for seeing hidden messes (especially under the couch). I could not wait to show my mom what a great purchase I made and then immediately recommended that she buy one for herself!!! If they were a little cheaper I would just buy them for people I know. I LOVE the Shark vacuums. I have owned several over the years. This referbished vacuum just screams when it is turned on. So loud you think it's going to blow up any minute. I've never had a vacuum so loud. Suction seems good. Hair gets wrapped around the brush roll.

    • Makes doing a chore enjoyable!
I am really enjoying this vacuum. It has a nice long cord, good suction, is lightweight, easily modified (to a hand vac or to use the attachments), and is easy to both steer and get under furniture. I liked that there was a groove in the beater bar to put scissors into and slide across - easy to remove wound string and hair, etc. I was put out by the way it can’t stand on it’s own, but it’s easy enough to lay down if need be. And for storage, you remove the top/engine portion and hang it on the hook towards the bottom of the vacuum (shown in manual). There are two speeds for the belt-driven beater - one for thick carpet and one for bare floors or gentle carpet. The suction is the same for both speeds, but I like that the slower speed leaves the beater slowly turning as to not grow debris all over your hard floor! And I bought this refurbished - what a fantastic vacuum! My one valid complaint is that the dust canister fills so quickly! Lol. Maybe that will change after a few cleaning session with this new guy. :) ... show more
