  • Arthritis-Friendly Dog Hair DEFEATER.
Style: Detect Lift-Away Pro (Evergreen)
I’m going to first set the stage to really explain my vacuuming needs. I have a Golden Retriever, two boys under the age of 6, and a husband working in construction. We live near beaches so our yard is pretty much sand/dirt/dune grass. My house is basically a constant sand/dirt/food/craft parts and pieces pit. On top of this, I have severe Rheumatoid Arthritis. This vacuum is my favorite thing I have ever purchased. It’s so easy to use. I love that all the parts come apart so you can use/carry only what you need to for that specific area. The suction on this bad boy is incredible. The amount of dog hair it picks up every time I vacuum is so satisfying and also troubling when I think about how much dog hair was all over my house before I got this vacuum. I like the duodetect when it kind of moves by itself. It took me a little while to get used to but now I love it. It’s like it’s doing the vacuuming for me and I’m just along for the ride. It came with several attachments, a couple standard ones and then this like weird window allergy-friendly thing I had never seen before. I was like “well that’s odd I won’t use this.” But then I did and it’s AMAZING. It’s so handy for getting dust out of little corners and ledges. The weight on this vacuum is really nice. It’s not feather light, but I can still carry it even with my arthritis-bound hands. Anyways. I love this vacuum. If you have a lived-in, activity-filled, chaos-ridden house, this is the vacuum for you. ... show more

  • EVERY disabled person should have one - and so should everyone else!
Style: Detect Lift-Away Pro (Evergreen)
I live in the desert so a LOT of dust and dirt get tracked into my home, and I also have a what WAS a "fancy" floor finish that now flakes up CONSTANTLY, so keeping up on vacuuming is a *constant* chore. Just to make things more complicated, I'm disabled and have arthritis, so doing a lot of moving around and bending down to get at tricky spots used to leave me laid up for an entire day after housekeeping. THIS vacuum cleaner has been a complete GAME-CHANGER! It is a *little* heavier than I expected, but for all the other features, it's enough of a trade-off. One of the BEST features for someone with limited flexibility is that you can lift the light-weight cannister and motor section off of the base and carry it around like a hand vacuum. You can *also* remove the handle from the vacuum in two differed lengths - a short handle for cleaning things at waist height and above, and a LONG handle to get under crevices and other spots on the floor without bending over or getting down on your hands and knees for tricky spaces! This vacuum allows me to adjust the rug/floor setting with a button near the handle without having to bend over and fiddle with a knob near the floor, and even has a setting to automatically adjust itself to go from carpet to bare floor. The motor is STRONG and does an excellent job at cleaning the carpet and floor with just a few passes. For getting under cupboards and furniture, there's a sensor that will give a boost where you need one, and a light that goes on and off automatically because the darn thing is MAGIC and knows when you need it! The cannister that holds the dust and dirt is on the small side, but I think this is a plus because even though you have to clean it out a little more often, it doesn't vomit out so much gunk that you end up covered in dust and grime. That is also why it is small and light enough to carry around, so I consider it a feature, not a bug. It is a little pricey, but I think it's been worth every penny. I actually look forward to using it because it's made it so much easier to keep my house clean again! ... show more

  • Best vaccum ever
Style: Detect Lift-Away Pro (Evergreen)
I freaking LOVE this machine!! The power drive is insane. The vaccum tells you when the floor is clean. I have 3 dogs, a cat, kids and our house is a revolving door of action. I vaccum daily to keep up with fur and debris. This vaccum has insane suction, handy tools, power drive mode and I have to hold it back as it moves over both hard and soft floor surfaces. The edge feature is nice, hose is long, cup is big enough you do t have to empty after every room. The lift away feature is nice for vacuuming my ceiling fans, tops of cabinets, windows and blinds as its much lighter and less bulky to handle on step stool. ... show more

  • Above average, but fussy
Style: Detect Lift-Away Pro (Evergreen)
I've been using this vacuum for over a month and am mostly pleased with it, with some caveats. The suction power on normal is good and pulls up everything I can see. When the boost activates it's usually in high traffic areas so I think that's legit. But the feature is touchy. Apparently it activates when 2 sensors in the vacuum head detect debris going by, from a candy wrapper down to a piece of lint. But so far the boost feature got stuck on two times. I worried that continuously running the motor on boost may cause damage so I cleared the obstruction as soon as it happened both times. When it happened, I had to turn off the machine, lift-off the roller head, hold open a cover on the bottom while brushing away whatever was obstructing the sensors inside using a Q-tip. It's an awkward & tedious procedure. I did find that removing and cleaning the smoothing brush is easy and the comb catches so much dog hair and explains why I don't see a lot of dog hair in the canister when I'm done. I have not found any hair wrapped around the roller. This machine gets up a lot of dust which is what I find more of in the canister. The edge cleaning is a bit more effective than my old Bissell machine. I had new carpet installed 5 months ago and the Shark has sucked up more cut carpet fibers from the edge that my Bissell had missed. So I must conclude that the edge cleaning power of the Shark is better than my old Bissell. One feature I thought was a luxury but find I can't do without now are headlights. My old Bissell had them which is what drew me to this Shark model. It's most useful when vacuuming hard surfaces to see crumbs or hair. The vacuum automatically adapts from carpet to hard surface so there's no need to stop to change a setting. The rollers don't scatter crumbs or debris when on hard surfaces so I don't have to chase them. The freshening disk is a total waste. It came with one so I am using it but don't plan to spend money to replace it. I'm able to swivel the machine around easy enough but the squared body has caught on furniture and gives it a clunky, old-fashioned appearance. My Bissell which is 3 years older is more cylindrical and moved around furniture easier. The power button is not close to the handle. Whatever you do, DO NOT run over any cords, especially the vacuum power cord. The power switch takes a second or two to reach and by then the cord is confetti. There's a hook on the wand to hang the cord on to at least lift it off floor level, but the cord easily falls out so that's pretty useless. I keep loops of the cord in one hand to try to keep it out of harm's way. Also near the power button is a sticker that lists the cleaning modes. It says to remove before use. Don't remove it! I did and wasn't able to remember any of the cleaning modes because there isn't any corresponding indicators on the machine. So I'm leaving the sticker on. If Shark thinks I'm just going to memorize the modes and know which click to set it to, they don't know me very well. My overall opinion is that this is a very good vacuum with good suction, just what you want in any vacuum. But everything they added to improve the experience, like the boost feature that gets stuck or the freshing disk that adds nothing, is disappointing. Turns out this machine is fussy because of the improvements. I'll keep tending to its eccentricities because in the end, the performance is above average. ... show more

  • Happy with purchase.
Style: Detect Lift-Away Pro (Evergreen)
Excellent vacuum! The suction is fantastic and cleans up dog hair like no other. I have three corgis so shedding is a regular thing at our house. I run this and my house feels hair free and very clean! Durability is great. Value for the money is spot on. I am very happy with this purchase.

  • Marvelous!
Style: Detect Lift-Away Pro (Evergreen)
Honestly best vacuum I have ever owned. I must preface this with the fact that we own a farm and are no strangers to hair and dirt. You try keeping floors cleaned with two great pyrenees and 10,000 cats, cows, and four children, nigh impossible. But not with this vacuum, not only does the sucking rock, its so easy to pull apart if something gets stuck. No more bending hangers hoping to get the clogged hair out of the elbow, its a simple unbuckle and you are at the elbow. Whoever made this vacuum decided to reinvent the vacuum with actual human beings in mind. Shark, I cannot say enough about your fantastic vacuum, its marvelous, the ability to detect different levels of carpet or allowing me to choose. The headlights. Cross functionality. It is the best of the best, this vacuum truly sucks. ... show more

  • Shark Detection Pro Lift Away

I week in and It’s doing a great job. Suction is great, it could literally suck up a light weight carpet or mat, cleans beautifully. It is big, heavy and a bit awkward for ME to move but worth it!

  • Shark Vacuum
Style: Detect Lift-Away Pro (Evergreen)
I have owned exclusively Shark vacuum cleaners for many years. This is a decent vacuum but I’m very disappointed that the lift away feature does not allow you to vacuum under furniture. I was surprised because I have an older model that lifts away to allow this. Also the cord can easily get stuck underneath the dust cup portion of the vacuum when you put it back into upright position, and because of this I already slightly damaged the cord the first time I used it. It automatically adjusts to different floor types as stated, but it seems to have difficulty with this and can be very noisy when trying to adjust itself, so I adjust it manually instead, which I’m glad is possible. Overall, it picks up dust, dirt and pet hair very well from carpets and hard floors. I don’t see any dust when I’m finished. It cleans close to the baseboards well also. It has powerful suction with the brush and does a good job on furniture too. The dust is contained well in the canister and empties easily. So, I will say that it is a good vacuum and only took off two stars for the concerns I mentioned. ... show more
