Amazing! I bought my dog door 5 years ago. When it broke I went looking for it and found this replacement part. Fix took 5 min. Amazon price was perfect. And the packaging was amazing because it protects the seal rubber so it is not bent and defective.

It took nearly an hour to complete the installation, including cleaning the frame. We have three very active dogs — two Portuguese Water Dogs and a Mini Poodle — so I’m impressed that the original pet flap on our storm door lasted five years. The replacement fits well and the directions are straightforward, although there was a complication. Removing the caps from the flap rod was easy, but both were badly mangled from constant extreme use. (Our boys are on high alert 24/7, tearing outside to supervise dog walkers and UPS trucks.) However, the package does not include new caps — that would add 4 cents to the cost! — so I sealed the rod on both sides with poster hanging strips, removing the backing from only the inside. Of course, I can’t predict how well the strips will hold over time. Unless you have a helper, I’d also recommend using a strong tape such as duck tape to hold the outside frame in place as you screw the two halves back together. It comes off easily when you’re done.

Great OEM replacement. Made the door look brand new. After 5 years of 2 dogs n 2 cats pounding through that thing, one of the rubber flex sections wore out n separated. Bought this and was a zip to put on. Item came fully assembled with a full page of instructions and pictures. Easy DIY.

Our dog is huge! He runs through the doggy door like a 153 pound rocket on hyper speed jet fuel! The original magnetic tri-fold door flap had finally broken after years of abuse, so I ordered this new replacement at a great price. We were pleased-to find this replacement was exactly as described, and identical to the original well priced, the magnets are strong enough to quickly make a perfect seal without swinging back and forth which helps maintain temperatures. The magnets are equally as strong and durable as the original, Instructions were easy to follow, making the installation of the replacement a breeze, and Hank was no longer in the dog house for being an over zealous clod! I LOVE this doggy door! I do! I did a LOT of research and this is the one that seemed the best...and I think it is! Imagine my delight when I not only found the best doggy door but found it in a storm door version too! WHAT?! YES! SOLD! I just open my back door and leave the storm door shut and my three dogs (1-90lbs Lab, 1-27lb mixed breed, 1-18lb Jack Russell) can access the Ideal Pet Door YEAR ROUND! I live in the Pacific Northwest which while temperate does tend to be WET at times (hence the dirty door!), but leaving the back door open so the storm door with doggy door is available works. Even in the winter most days! So, why only 4 stars? Because while I really LOVE this door and appreciate being able to buy a replacement when necessary...I would rather only have to buy the part needed to fix the only thing that wears out on this door! Which is a rubber hinge between the plastic panels. And YES I have called the MFR and begged them to sell the hinges...but as of the time of this post they have not, so...only 4 stars. I really WANT to give this 5 stars because it IS an awesome doggy door!...but I will wait until they start selling the hinges before I do that. But I still highly recommend this doggy door! 8-9-2020 Update: It’s been 4 years since this review so I thought I’d let you know how it’s been holding up since our replacement. Well....the short answer is: GREAT! (Hope I don’t jinx myself!) When summer rolls around I keep wondering if THIS will be the year we need to replace this door? But it just keeps working fine! And we do nothing! I mean we don’t even clean the thing! Why? The dogs will only get it dirty again! LOL! Can’t tell you why the first one failed and this one is working great, but I’m thrilled it’s still holding up so I thought I’d share with you all because I know I like when people use a product for awhile and come back and update later. Bottom line: IF this Doggy door fails again, we will simply order another one and replace it easily! It was a GREAT purchase!

Okay so I have the smaller door for my cats, and the bottom flap fell off/the rubber seal that connects it to the middle piece finally tore. Many people say theirs have done that too, hence the replacement door. But these break in roughly a year, the replacement isn’t cheap! I actually took the plastic pieces apart on the new one apart and took the rubber seals out. Since you can remove the rubber pieces, you have two replacements instead of one 😊 This also means you don’t have to take the entire door off too! To do this: there’s screws on the plastic window on both sides. You have to loosen those screws up on the side where the broken seal is, then gently separate the plastic with a flathead screw driver to allow you to slide the black rubber piece out. Since the flap already fell off, I tossed that part, and took the bottom flap off the new door leaving the seal/rubber on the bottom and the black piece on the top. Then take that new piece over to the door and slide it back in place 😊 obviously this will only work if one of the rubber seals is busted, but definitely saves money! Very happy since these doors aren’t cheap. The replacements are quality though, looks exactly like the original.
