Out of the box this vacuum cleaned way better than any we've ever owned. I simply could not believe our carpets were so dirty. The old vac never picked up this much stuff. The controls are excellent and handy on the handheld part of the flex hose. Machine on-off, three speed adjustment and beater-bar on-off right at your fingertips is a super feature. The beater bar works well on rugs or bare floor and absolutely refuses to clog with hair or long threads. It is a bit of a nuisance to have to empty it rather than toss a full bag, but with no bags to buy, it's cheaper to operate. I use my shop vac to get all the dust out of the corners of the open dirt storage areas, but an old soft paint brush would work just as well. Do empty it outdoors as the dust tends to fly a bit. It is sturdily made but light and very easy to handle around the house. Not too noisy either, but the cat still doesn't like it. Last, it has a very long cord on a self storage internal drum with a good strong rewind feature. The cord is color-coded so you know when you have pulled it out nearly to the end. First the couple of negatives... The instructions for unboxing and putting together are minimal to say the least. It wasn't hard for me, just a bit confusing. The hose kinks easily. Seems like it may not last long. But... suction is amazing. Very easy to go from floor head to hose for corners. Very light weight. Long cord. Floor head maneuvers beautifully. Cleaning under beds is very easy. First time using I had to clean it afterward because it got so much dirt and hair up. Cleaning the dust bin and filter was very simple. I really like this machine. I just hope it lasts longer than my last 2 Shark uprights did. ... show more

I’ve been using a upright for awhile and decided I missed having a canister vacuum. I decided to go with the Shark Canister Vacuum, and I made the right decision. This vacuum has the best suction of any canister vacuum that I’ve owned. It has three suction options/speeds. Low, medium, and max/high. The low setting is great when you need to vacuum rugs and you don’t want the vacuum sucking up the entire rug. The medium setting is great for bare floors and the high setting is good for that stubborn pile of debris that just doesn’t want to come up. This Shark Vacuum is lightweight and easy to maneuver around the house. I can pick the entire unit up with just one hand. The beater brush attachment has two speeds. Low, and high. Low is for bare floors and high is for carpet. This particular beater brush works great on my hard surface floors. I keep it on the low setting and it works great. This canister comes with three attachments. The electric beater brush, a crevice tool, and a upholstery brush. All work great. The cord is long at 25 ft, and is retractable at the push of a button. The vacuum sets on four caster wheels that swivel. This is a bagless machine so there are no messy bags to deal with. Just empty the dirt container with the push of a button and that’s it. Shark does recommend cleaning the filters about every two months. Overall this is a great machine to clean with. I find it easy to use and move around the house. As a kid I made fun of my mom's cannister vac and we all called it a dragon because she had to drag it. I never owned a dragon until now with this shark. I chose it for it being light weight, easy maneuverability, and something I had not seen before - the fins on the beater bar instead of bristles. I absolutely did not enjoy removing tagged hairs from those brushes. For several first uses, I flipped it over to see if hairs were stuck, I was amazed each look that there were no hairs! This shark cannister vac meets up to the advertisement!!! It was easy to put together, lightweight and easy to carry in those places that a dragon can't get into easy. Lots of openings to access for clogs. Maintenance of filters and cyclone are super easy. I remember seeing a review before I bought that the hose kinks. I have experienced this a couple times, it happened because I had the unit in the wrong position. However no big deal - where kink occurred it just pops back out on its own. Suction is great - still is too. And I have animals in my home. I know the suction is great because when I use the carpet shampoo er cleaner it is not pulling out animal hairs that the vacuume left behind. Another perk is this unit is easy to mover over multiple surfaces because on the handle is the settings for capet/not carpet and settings for suction power. Heck, I rarely ever use a broom any more! With the suction settings, I have not vacuumed over anything and have it suck into the vacuume (like throw rug etc). I think that the bst ever vac is this dragon! ... show more
