So I've finally used this enough that I feel pretty confident about giving a review. Firstly, use whole milk, best foam. You can use any % milk you have but whole milk gives the best foam. I've never tried it with half/half or whipping cream. You can choose between espresso shots, cappuccino, and latte drinks. All three have small and large sizes. If you don't have the milk container on or it's not installed all the way, the machine won't let you pick cappuccino or latte. I've had all three and they're all great. The only downside is this machine has more daily maintenance if you plan to use milk. You can't leave milk in there all day and the tank isn't sealed so I wouldn't even leave the tank in the fridge with milk in it overnight. I pour the milk in the tank, make my drinks, then pour the leftover milk back into the carton. Then rinse it out and fill with water, then run an extra cycle or two in the latte setting to clean the inside of the tube. After that I wipe everything down, including where the espresso basket connects to the machine. This is just something I learned from our old machine that we NEVER cleaned. It's harder to clean later and gives the coffee a burnt taste. So yeh, a little more time cleaning up. But not enough to deter me from using it or make me sad I bought it. ... show more

This machine is very simple to use and makes our drinks perfect. It doesn’t make a 16 oz latte unless you make a few and pour into a bigger cup which is what we do. It heats up quickly and makes coffee pretty fast. I read another review about whole milk being the best for the milk frother and I would agree. I tried 2% and some others and although it works the best really is whole milk. I would recommend this machine if you want a simple quick morning latte, cappuccino or espresso. Definitely worth the money. I tried a more expensive one and returned it. I didn’t like the steamer wand. This little guy you just push a button and walk away. So simple. ... show more

So glad the coffee Gods have hooked me up with lattes every morning! This is my first try at making espresso at home. The machine is fairly easy to use if you read all of the instructions first. At first the water was leaking, then I realized the machine doesn’t require you to seat the water tank in place firmly. Just a light touch works best. ... show more

    • Water tank leaks
The water tank on the back of the machine leaked when first setup. I thought I had resolved the issue and then the entire tank leaked all over the counter after refilling. Other than that issue, this machine is easy to setup and use.

It’s OK I wish you would give more coffee less milk. It looks nice and if it’s perfect gonna countertop, we love coffee we drink a lot of coffee so I use a little bit of this one a little bit of my ninja.

This is the second time in a week I bought the Shardor Espresso Machine CM5160 with automatic milk frother. I returned the previous machine last week to Amazon and got another one yesterday. However, shockingly both the machines have the same manufacturing defect! I removed the orange plug from the bottom of the water reservoir, filled it up with water between the Min and Max level markers, and re-attached it to the back of the machine making sure the holding grip gets properly into the slot. But for both the machines, the water kept leaking continuously through the bottom of the base. Please see the attached pictures. It looks like the valve at the bottom of the reservoir base, that regulates the water flow (see the second pic please), always stays open with the push of the black plastic pin over the mesh filter. There is no way to adjust the black pin. This is definitely a manufacturing defect in my opinion. Take this product out of Amazon. Every single machine of this product has this manufacturing defect. Love this little espresso maker. The first thing I noticed is that it was small but mighty and I was thrilled it was not going to take up a whole lot of precious counter space. It's easy to use and clean up. The machine offers 6 different options: single shot and double shot espresso, and small and large sized lattes and cappuccinos. I was impressed that when I selected the large latte option that my mug was not big enough. The manual offers cup size suggestions in mL but I didn't convert it before making my cup and was surprised that for an in-home machine the latte was approx.16oz. I would say this will accomplish exactly what I need it to do, to be able to save me $100s to fulfill my espresso and latte needs. After using it a few times there are 2 things that I didn't love. - First, you can't steam milk without activating the espresso shot portion. Note this is an "espresso maker" WITH an automatic milk frother, but it will not separately froth your milk (thinking of matcha and chai lattes). So even if you don't add espresso grounds, it'll still pour water through the portafilter. I'm going to get crafty and find a way to divert the espresso water before it infiltrates the steamed milk, but the space is tight and the steaming wand only bends one direction (into the cup). - Secondly, the manual is just good enough. While this may not be the biggest deal, but there is still some information I felt was necessary but missing or you had to REALLY read the steps several times for them to make sense or develop your best educated guess. But after trial and error and the machine didn't stop working, we figured it out. Overall, it's a 4/5. I am really going to enjoy using this on the weekends or for entertaining (when I am most likely to buy specialty drinks). ... show more
