If you are reading this review, you know the garden cordless tiller space is filled with many choices. After reading many reviews, I decided to purchase the SEYVUM MT8801 cordless tiller. I have not known the SEYVUM company before this purchase and was skeptical about the purchase. Fortunately, I have been very surprised and impressed with this light weight tiller. We have 3 raised garden beds that needed prep for the upcoming growing season. The beds are too large for manual hoe work and too small for a full size tiller. It took me two days and a sore back last year with the back to nature hoe job. This year I knew I was going to use a power tool to get the job done. This tiller turned out to be a little TITIAN. Plenty of power to finish the job in 2 hours instead of 2 days. The 2 battery packs are well thought out to include the charger inside the battery pack. It was a great value for the price, easy to assemble and use, and very functional. Did not have a single issue with using it this first season, it passed the first year durability test. The bottom line is, would I buy this product again? H**L Yeah!

I have had cultivators in the past (gas models) and they were difficult to start (to say the least). I have several electric (battery operated) tools and while convenient they were inferior to their gas/plug in counterparts. The product needed to be assembled which was surprise Ly easy. I popped in a battery right out of the package and used it to dig up the grass in all the places my mower couldn't get to so I didn't have to lig out the heavy weed trimmer. I was expecting the thing to bounce all over the place and for the battery to give out aafter10 minutes I was totally shocked. This thing actually worked like one hopes a cultivator would.

I should have took a before picture as the garden was completely overgrown. I was able to do all this off of one of the batteries that came with the charge from out of the box. Very easy to put together and lite weight. I would definitely recommend for the price.

This SEYVUM Cordless Tiller with two 20V 4.0Ah batteries works better than I expected. I didn't think it would till the soil that effectively. I tested it in a couple of raised beds, and it easily broke up the soil. Using a full-sized tiller wasn't practical because these beds are 18 inches high. But this tiller is lightweight and compact enough to do the job quickly and smoothly. The two 4Ah batteries are well-made and come with their own charger. That charger is rather cheaply made in terms of design. You plug the charger into the wall socket and then plug the small charging cord into the battery. I already have two other SEYVUM tools that use the same batteries, and I can also use the upgraded SEYVUM docking charger I own for them. The assembly was quick and easy, taking under ten minutes. The tiller's balance is determined by the adjustable stirrup-style handle's positioning and angle. I found it well-balanced once I adjusted that handle. The tiller has impressive torque. Just remember this isn't designed to till hard dry ground. It's best used in soil that has previously been worked. The tines are well-designed and robust enough for medium-duty tilling. I haven't used it long enough to determine how well it resists corrosion. The price is reasonable for this tool and well below other well-known brands. Conclusion: This SEYVUM 20V battery-powered tiller has met my expectations, which meets my criterion for a four-star rating. If it had come with a docking-style charger, it would have exceeded my expectations and earned five stars. Nevertheless, I do recommend it because it is a time saver and, more importantly, a back saver. As the saying goes—Work smarter, not harder.

I’ll tell you what, the Seyvum Cordless Tiller really surprised me, I was not expecting it to be as efficient as it turned out to be. That said, I own several other Seyvum homeowner DIY lawn and workshop tools, and thus far, have had only positive experiences with all of them and consequently, Seyvum the company. The Cordless Tiller is delivered semi assembled/disassembled, however you want to look at it. The 3-section folding main shaft has the control wiring running through it from the handle and battery to the tiller motor that sits over the blades. The two junctures of the main shaft are keyed and locked together with threaded compression clamps. The two blades slip onto right side and left side steel shafts and are held in place with cotter pins. Lastly, the blade cover slips over the handle and down the shaft where it is secured with a slotted tab and plastic clamp that’s part of the motor housing. There is a user manual included; however, it leaves a lot to intuition. Nonetheless, the small amount of assembly required is likely to be fairly intuitive for most. For those that do need more help, there is a complete set of step-by-step instructional assembly videos that can be found on the Amazon point-of-purchase page. With a charged battery installed, the tiller is operated with a non-lockable trigger; the push of a lock button is required to engage the trigger and thus the motor, and it runs as long as the trigger is held depressed. We live in the So. Cal. desert where the soil is sandy, hard and rocky, and as implied earlier, I was surprised at just how quickly and effortlessly the tiller cut through it; the machine has excellent torque. I found that initially holding it in place until it’s dug down to the desired depth, then letting it run forward worked best for our soil. On softer, loamier soil it it’ll likely cut much more quickly. I also found that it will till efficiently in both a forward and backward motion. Within the scope of its intended home use, the tiller churns up plenty of earth and does so surprisingly fast. Plus, as shown in the picture, it can be used to carve out side-by-side planting rows. As a home gardeners’ tool, it will save time and effort while at the same time aerating the soil and creating a planting bed. In our case, where we have very rocky soil, it churns them up so that they can be rake out and used for other purposes. Additionally, prior to tilling, the desired area can be covered with organic planting soil, manure or other soil nutrients to be mixed directly into the native soil. And, of course, since the tiller is cordless, there isn’t any need for external power, extension cords or the inconvenience of caring for an oxen, donkey or draft horse. As I mentioned earlier, I own a few other Seyvum products, two of which, a string trimmer and a leaf blower, are also battery-operated lawn care tools. Such as it is, the batteries included with the Cordless Tiller and those used by the other tools are all interchangeable with one another, so that no matter what the chore, there is always enough charged batteries to complete the task. This is an advantage to sticking to one manufacturer’s product line, interchangeability. With that in mind, I can say unequivocally that I’ve been completely satisfied with the Seyvum products and have had no trouble or problems with any of them. As they do with the other products I own, they offer a 1-year warranty on the Cordless Tiller. Besides a 1-year warranty, the tiller includes two 20V 4.0-amp batteries and the necessary charger.
