Top Amazon Reviews

  • A very sturdy, comfortable, and nicely finished big and tall desk chair definitely worth considering.
Color: Chestnut Brown
I thought I had already reviewed this chair, but when I came back to update it, I discovered that I was wrong. I am NOT a small person - I'm over 6' tall and weigh a lot more than I should (used to be a competitive weight lifter and never stopped eating ... sigh). So at 290lbs I give this chair a good workout. I've been using it for over 18 months now, and it is holding up beautifully. Yes you can tell that someone sits in it regularly - but then my work day (home office) is typically 07:00-19:00 or later, so that's reasonable. The cushions and frame are in essentially almost new condition, and it has given me no problems. Also it is comfortable enough that I don't find myself looking for other chairs on line ... PRO's: The height is very adjustable and it's on the tall side. My desk has a top at about 34" and the chair matches it whether I want to set up tall OR let the chair down to slide it up under the desk on those rare occasions when I'm awake and not sitting in it. The gas cylinder is still working perfectly (I've had them go out at any age from 9-months up, so I'm pleased that it doesn't yet seem to slip at all). The adjustments (height, tilt, lumbar support) are all easy to adjust and stay adjusted once set. My wife actually likes the way it looks (when you have a shared home office, that can be an issue if your "partner" does NOT like it). The casters (wheels) are very good quality and don't give me problems rolling across the computer room floor which as hardwood, floor protectors, and an oriental carpet with which to contend. (It doesn't like the 1/2" inch jump to get up onto the carpet, but I added a home-made ramp (a short wedge) which lets it get up onto the carpet if I back up far enough to go onto the capet. The finish is holding up nicely. CONs: There aren't many to be honest and they're mostly nit-picking. The lowest height adjustment may be too high for shorter desks (not a problem to me, but it might be for you). (This one is just nit picking ...) At this cost, I would like to have three "features" it doesn't have (but which I think it should). There is no "seat" front-to-back adjustability. Other big&tall chairs have that feature and I loved it on my previous chair. AND ... The angle of the seat relative to the back is not adjustable. Again other big&tall chairs have that feature and I loved it on my previous chair. OTOH that is my "previous" chair because the mechanism which connects the back to the seat failed. That might be connected to why such features are not available on this chair. The third "missing" feature is the tilt of the back of the chair. When I'm on a really pointless, never-ending a la Dilbert than the PHB meeting, I used to recline my old chair's back and relax for the duration of the pointless jabber. This chair doesn't tilt that far back and I miss the capability. As I said above, this item is just nit-picking and probably won't apply to you. I would definitely recommend this chair to anyone over 6' tall and/or over 250 lbs. My brother (6'5") finds it quite comforable and he's right at its weight limit - and the chair doesn't seem to mind (complain/fail/run screaming form the room) when he sits in it. FWIW I'd also buy it again. As I said, definitely recommended T ... show more

  • No Assembly Instructions Included
Color: Ivory White
The only negative is that no assembly instructions were included. Still, assembly was not complicated and was easily discerned. The chair is comfortable but firmer than my previous Serta big and tall chair. The creme/off-white color looks really good with my existing furniture. So far, I'm happy with my purchase. ... show more

  • Nice quality. TALL sitting chair at first, but does break in a bit.
Color: Chestnut Brown
After about 18 years, it was time to say goodbye to my Naugybeast office chair, which I loved, but was developing too many cracks in the armor for my taste. Ordered this chair based on the reviews and description. Pros: 1. This is a solid chair. To be clear, for those who think that the wood is from the bones of the Naugybeast, it isn't. They use some type of a hard wood and it is sturdy. 2. The leatherette (I think they call it "bonded leather" meaning that it is a mixture of leather and man-made materials) seems sturdy. The base, which has 5 hard wood legs could seriously hurt someone if flung at them. Again, solid. 3. The chair is a very comfortable chair. 4. Outstanding value for the $$$$ Cons: 1. This is made in China and shipped a cazillion miles. Had a couple of nicks which I could live with. If the leatherette was ripped or torn, I would have returned it. 2. This is a TALL sitting chair. Even with the pneumatic post, the lowest position is about 1" shy of where I'd like it to be. I have an awesome leather covered work desk with a center draw that I have to now sit up a little more upright for my legs not to be crunched. If you're nowhere near 6' tall, your legs will dangle and you'll lose your power over other people. I'm 6'1" and, otherwise it fits perfectly. (Addendum: I've had the chair for a week and the foam does break in a bit. The height actually is pretty darn near perfect now!. Still 4 stars though, because of nicks that came with it.) 3. The back adjustment is by name, only. It doesn't really do much. Good news? You really don't need it. A word of advice on assembly from someone who's screwed up many such gadgets in the past: 1. There is an L-shaped plate that comes pre-attached to the back of the upright portion of the chair. You will be attaching this plate to the baseplate that you've previously secured to the bottom of the portion of the chair. DO firmly secure the baseplate to the bottom of the chair before attaching the back portion of the chair to it. But, VERY LOOSELY attach the chair back to the chair bottom. This is where people are getting frustrated due to the holes on the arm rest not matching up to the sides of the chair back and bottom. There is intentionally a lot of slop built into the bracket that attaches the chair back to the bottom to allow you plenty of leeway to position the arms in place while loosened. 2. The screws come in a shrink-wrapped and marked cardboard sleeve. LEAVE the screws in this and take them out one set at a time only as you use them so that you won't lose track of which screw goes where. 3. Assemble this on carpet or bed or something soft. Enough said. 4. This is important: Again from previous experience, don't try to "make-it-fit" with the screws and threads. The worst thing that you can do is get the holes somewhat closely aligned then trying to use one thread with the allen wrench to try to "pull" it into place. This is the best way to strip the threads. If the holes are properly lined up, you should be able to use your fingers to tighten the screw at least 3 or 4 full rotations if you follow my instructions above. 5. Until you sit in this chair for awhile, the pneumatic post is just gravity fed into the base of the chair. Don't lift the chair up by the cushions without grabbing onto the base or it will fall off. After sitting in the chair for awhile, this shouldn't be an issue. (Addendum: One week later, I'm VERY happy with this chair, and you will be, too! ... show more
