I am a relatively old man of 60, and have been a PC gamer since I was 18.... so for over 40 years I have been sitting at a desk on a chair for 6+ hours a day, .... I have had dozens of chairs in that time, from cheap folding chairs to expensive executive chairs.... Recently I was in need to buy a office chair because my current chair's padding had become so flat that it was no longer comfortable to sit on, as I currently am a web designer and programmer and I am a big man, so I need a chair designed for Big and Tall users. I starting searching for office chairs and have found that the biggest percentage of chairs currently on the market are the 'gaming' chairs.... so I looked at them quite extensively. some of the gaming chairs have a ton of bells and whistles, and some are built for Big and Tall users. The gaming chairs intrigued me, but then I remembered that I am now considered an old man with arthritis in my lower back, so I changed my focus to comfort and stability versus gaming. That's when I found this Serta Big and Tall Executive Office Chair with Wood Accents Adjustable High Back Ergonomic Lumbar Support, Bonded Leather, 30.5D x 27.25W x 47H in, Chestnut Brown. I know the name Serta is synonymous with comfortable beds and mattresses, so I purchased this chair. When the chair arrived, I immediately opened the box and verified that everything that shows in the contents list was accounted for, and I began the procedure to put the chair together. The instructions were very straightforward and easy to follow, and it only took me an hour or so to complete the build of the chair. It was then that I sat down on the chair for the first time.... and I can honestly tell you that this is the most comfortable chair I have sat in, out of all the chairs I have owned. I am sure that there may quite well be more comfortable chairs on the market, but for the price of this chair, it is well worth it. The chair includes an adjustable lumbar support knob, and it really helps to lower the pain in my back during long hours at my desk. I have used the chair for about a month now, so I will add-on to this review in a few months to update as to the longevity of the chair. I bought because of the name brand, in hopes the quality would be better than other offerings. The chair is as described made of bonded leather. If you've ever owned a bonded leather belt vs a real solid leather belt, you know that eventually the veneer cracks usually near the most used prong hole first. But a real solid leather chair would have been much, much more expensive and this has a nice touch and feel. My real leather office chair has lasted 25 years, but the cylinder finally gave out. I didn't realize it at the time I ordered, but I can probably just replace the cylinder and keep using the old one, but nevertheless I'm very satisfied with the purchase. The leather is single stitched, in a lighter threat to show some contrast. I do appreciate the padded armrests, which is a comfortable touch - although I am near certain those will be the first to tear up, from hitting the underside of desks, and from elbow rubs, much like how a bonded leather belt I expect it to crack first, and then delaminate. But given the price, its satisfactory for now -- a good feature is it appears the armrests can be removed with three screws from the bottom. So if that happens, I can replace the pads with something simple, or have them recovered by an upholsterer, or just repair the leather from the backside, to stop it from cracking, so its held together. Now for the best part -- the controls on this chair are really nice. There are three adjustments 1. up/down 2. lock tilt at any position; my favorite feature.. this locks the tilt to the amount the chair leans back stay set 3. tilt tension adjustment; this dial/knob is used in setting force to lean back when the tilt is not locked. I may be using the wrong chair industry terminology, buts that's how I'd best use layman's terms to describe it. The arms seem to be a dense composite wood, with a heavy and hard coating, so that is going to more durable than even a hardwood, and will prevent chips and dings. The spokes out to each caster wheel have a metal core, and the look of the wood over the metal is very nice. The only small thing about this chair, is because it is bonded leather, and it is so well cushioned and VERY comfortable, the combination of those two choices make the chair much warmer sitting than my real leather chair that has a similiar shape and style. That is just the trade off you get with the cost and features -- but I strongly recommend this chair. I've looked around and sat in these types of chairs for years at big box stores but never liked them enough to felt the need to replace my old one, but I'm glad I took a leap of faith and ordered this serta one sight unseen. I bought this to replace an old Lane wood/leather office chair that looked similar. The build quality is ok with no popping or cracking sounds while moving. It's a bit firm and could use a little more cushion. It is a really nice looking chair. Assembly was ok. I recently purchased the Wilmita 400lb big and tall and did not like the cheap build quality so I chose this as a replacement. I'm overall happy but miss my old Lane chair... ... show more

I have lots of back pain after sitting at my desk for even an hour. I received this chair last week and worked 11 hours straight the first time I used it AND HAD NO PAIN. I’m very pleased with the chair, it looks great & was easy to put together.

Like the title said, this is an excellent choice for big guys like me. All the trendy "gaming chairs" pale in comparison and are uncomfortable & break in a year or so.
