I have tried many skimmers in my large pond for leaves and debris for 30 years. They all had downsides (like why are some round?? so that its easier to accidentally pitch stuff back into the water?) This one is an intelligent quadrangle, and the lip on the edge makes it soooo much easier to dredge around near the bottom for the really slimy stuff. I got the 'regular' mesh one, and it still catches plenty of muddy stuff. Some people had complaints about roughness where the pole sections attach---well, if you have sensitive hands you can wear a glove--or I'm sure a light application of sand paper would address this, since its only aluminum. I only noticed the roughness on assembly--not while i was using it. The length is great, its very light but does not weaken under a load.

This skimmer net has been really handy for keeping leaves and bugs out of our pool. The long pole reaches across most of the pool without me having to lean in too much, and the net picks up debris pretty well. It’s lightweight enough to use for a while without getting tired. The only small downside is the pole flexes a little when it’s fully extended, but it still works fine for normal cleanup. Overall, good value and much better than the tiny skimmer we had before.

In order for the pole size to be changed you have to add or remove pieces. It’s annoying because you have pieces laying around. Also the regular mesh, small pieces go through, so you better have a good filter. Water also gets in the pole and comes back on you. It is however light weight. Good for in pool cleaning if your walking around but it’s difficult to reach the middle of my 15 foot pool with it
