I thought that this would be good to put my pregnant females in but it seems to stress them out more than anything. I'll have to find another solution for them... I ended up seeing a fry or two in the tank hiding so I decided to grab them and put them in here while in the main tank and this has worked out great. I doubt it would work very well if you had dozens of fry though... The suction power on these is ok, wish it was better. The overall construction seems ok and the fry (mollies) haven't slipped through the slots that are all around. The plastic looks like it could easily break if you are too rough with it. ... show more

Assemble : East to assemble. The suction was not easy for kids to squeeze to the right place. But good suction power. Size: I have a 5 gallon tank. I bought medium size for my guppies. Unfortunately, every of them stress out. It’s seems a little too small for them. Waterplants won’t help with the very small room. So I put newborn fry in the box. The gaps are too big for newborn guppy fry. They can easily getting out of the box even for a week old fry is too big. They performed fish Houdini escape room to me for a week, I gave up and wait until 2nd week. I ended up using it for the currently 2 week old fry….will keep them until them get big enough to join the adults. Please see the picture for adult female guppies size and 2 week old fry size in the box. The gap is quite big . It’s a nice and sturdy box. Just not so great for my guppies. ... show more

Purchased this when my Mollie was pregnant. It's a bit small and seemed to stress my Mollie. I eventually had to let her out and she popped some fries and I had to scoop them up and put them into the box manually. Any food flakes that doesn't get eaten floats to the bottom section so the pregnant Mollie can't pick at it so you tend to overfeed and there's no simple way to clean the bottom section while the top is occupied. I gave it 4 stars as others may have a better experience with it if their Mollies/fish weren't as big. ... show more

Very easy to assemble and sturdy plastic. The suction cups are actually better than many of the ones that come with other part of my tank that are meant to be permanent fixtures. My mama fish wasn't exactly thrilled to be in there and it is difficult to feed them while they are separated in the breeder as the food falls through to the fry area. Otherwise, if you have smaller fish it is a perfect breeder area to keep the fry and mother safe during birthing and still visible to the rest of the tank so there isn't unecessary stress. ... show more
