  • An Excellent Saw for DIY/Farm/Homeowner
Size: 16"
This Battery Chainsaw is excellent. I’ve had it for a little over a month and have cut roughly 8-10 truckloads (pickup truck) with it- a mix of felled and standing trees from 3” to 13” in diameter. This was done across 3-4 sessions of cutting and the battery lasted through each session easily, cutting roughly a cord of firewood (~3 pickup beds full) per charge. A battery this big does take about 2 hours to charge, but most homeowners aren’t cutting nearly this much at a time, and many farm-type applications tend to be a tree or two that have fallen- this makes easy work of that on a single battery. It is a battery saw, so the body is a little longer to accommodate the large 60v battery, but it weighs in extremely similar to a gas Sthil ms170 (small-to-medium sized 14” gas saw). The longer 16” bar on this saw (versus the 12” or 14” on most other $120-$200 battery saws) makes larger cuts possible, which is nice. The cut speed and power is, like for every chainsaw, dependent on how sharp your chain is and if you have the correct chain for your particular use-case, but assuming a sharp, general purpose chain, it cuts close to the speed of a Sthil WoodBoss- which is a $400+ 45.6cc beast of a gas chainsaw. Is this better than a WoodBoss- no. The WoodBoss will run longer and you can fuel it up immediately- it also has a much larger bar thickness and supports longer bars, not to mention there’s a service center for them on every corner… but most people don’t need any of that. Most people need a chainsaw that is light enough to handle, cuts well, is easy to maintain, and works well- and that’s this saw. ... show more

  • Surprisingly good saw
Size: 18"
It kind of hurts me to say this but I am honestly surprised at the quality of this device. And I really mean that. Coworkers, family, friends and neighbors have heard me complain about the hassle of starting a saw and have all said the same thing "why dont you just get an electric?" and my answer has been "because electric sadly doesnt have the power of a 2 stroke motor". This saw beats out my Husqavarna 440 hands down. Its faster, tool less, weighs the same. The only downside is when the battery is dead, you'll have to have a second battery or wait for the first one to charge because you cant just refill the tank like a gas saw. But, there is no cranking, its can be ran without hearing protection, and its honestly just friendly to run. Every time I've needed to run my little saw, it has been because something is inconvenienced me while I was already doing something. and you go through the whole motion; theres a tree in the drive way, I'll go grab my saw. Its probably cold outside so I'm gonna crank on this thing that doesnt want to start. Now I have to drag it down the driveway, cut a log. Oh no, the saw is out of bar oil or gas. Now I need to walk down and refill it. Now, since i've stopped the saw, i need to crank on it again to get it started. Now that I've been cutting for a minute, now the chain has warmed up and needs tightened. The tool is in the garage. back down the driveway, to tighten the chain, so that I can cut a log, so that I can get on with my day. My wife can start the electric one and operate it with ease. And it cuts faster. I ran this thing on a 30inch tree just to see if i could bind the chain. I couldnt, it just kept cutting. you can feed it as fast as it'll go without issue of the motor stalling. And, to boot, my 440 was almost 400 bucks. you can buy the saw and a couple of batteries and its still cheaper. I have not run this saw for time so I dont know how long you can cut with the 4Ah battery before you need to swap it out. Their website has more battery options available. The charger is slow so plan your felling accordingly. The saw is a small 18 inch saw though, dont expect that you're going to do some milling with it. I also have a much larger 48 inch saw and that one has much more power that the electric. ... show more

  • Nice saw but changing the blade (chain) will cost you IF YOU CAN GET IT.
Size: 18"
This is a great saw overall - powerful can cut plenty of wood on a single charge. THE DRAWBACK (and hence the mid-range star rating) - this saw has a proprietary chain - so replacing it is going to cost you close to $50 - considering the overall price of the saw that might compel you to look at other models, especially considering that you can buy multi-packs of 3 standard chains for about $20 for other saws. Had I known that at the outset I probably would have chosen another model. *Update and went from 3 to 1 star - went to purchase the proprietary chain and found they are now sold out - making this saw worthless at least for the foreseeable future. Great saw but it's possibly disposable if not at least price prohibitive to maintain on a basic level. ... show more

  • Chain falls off
Size: 16"
Highly rated by Consumer Reports... I've used many chainsaws over the years, both gas & electric. This is my first battery one. It's a bit heavy but not too bad, however in all my years I've never seen a chain fall off as often as this unit. Very, very frustrating because you can't put it back on immediately as it's blazing hot. Trying to fit the chain in properly with gloves on, just about impossible for me so I've got to wait for it to cool. Then get my fingers covered in chain oil. If you're going to cut down a tree or do something else with the chain horizontal, be prepared for it to come off. Otherwise, it cuts well, is quiet, and the battery lasts about an hour. ... show more

  • Works fast and lasts long!
Size: 14"
I replaced my gas chainsaw with this and was amazed. Fast cutting and lasts long enough on a set of batteries for taking down a good sized tree. I just took down a 20’ hardwood tree and cut it up, no issues at all. Also cut up some other large logs a good foot+ in diameter before the batteries gave out. I have a spare set so I could just keep on cutting. Love the fact that you don’t mix gas and then hope it starts. You just push the button and away you go! ... show more

  • Decent saw, but issues with Chain Tensioning Knob
Size: 16"
Saw cuts great. It is a bit heavy, but that is because of the battery. I do have an issue. The Chain Tension Knob - the knob that keeps the chain tight on the bar keeps coming loose after about 10 minutes of cutting. This is a huge safety concern as the blade has come off the bar twice when I was cutting. I have reach out to Senix and they acted like they were concerned and had me send in numbers, describe the issue, etc...then they wanted me to record the incident actually happening. Usually I am out cutting wood by myself. How and I suppose to do this? Plus, what if the chain pops off again and hits me. I think they have zero intention of helping me correct this issue and giving me the run around. I am not stating that every Senix chain saw has this issue, but mine certainly does. ... show more

  • Impressive chainsaw
Size: 18"
The saw works well tho it will bog down on occasion. It is stronger than my 16 inch EGO and cuts faster. The battery will over heat and stop working until it cools down but less often than my EGO. It uses a 70 link chain that is hard to find and is only available from Oregon and you pay more for them making the low purchase price of this chainsaw a little less appealing. For a battery powered chainsaw that is 18 inches I recommend this for its power and price. The durability is still unknown since I have only used it once. ... show more
