  • Worth the money! Great bluetooth and mesh comms are very clear!
Works great, plus I saved a few bucks from buying from the amazon warehouse. Partner up with a bud and buy the dual pack. Very clear comms and easy to set up. Speakers are low profile, so it probably fits most helmets. I love the option of a boom mic or small mic. My friends say I come in the loudest because of the boom mic. ... show more

  • Worth its weight in gold!
Bought to communicate with my 7 year old son while riding dirt bikes. It was difficult to talk about body mechanics and techniques real time to keep him safe. To say we love these would be an understatement. From communicating when he needs fuel to asking me to play a different song from his play list while he is on a long moto with his motocross coach, these ROCK! As one can imagine, my son has taken several tumbles and SENA has Built these rugged and tough. Highly recommended! ... show more

  • After 8 years with an SMH5, this was a big upgrade
I've only ever owned Sena headsets, so I'm not going to compare them to Cardo or anything like that. But, this is my second Sena headset and I owned the last one for many years, so I'll compare them. My SMH5 was a workhorse. It's been through rain, hail, across the United States a few times. I've never treated it super well, but only had to replace the internal battery once. I was very happy with it, but I did want to try out "HD audio" and mesh, as I had several friends with 30K and 50S headsets. After reading alot of articles, I settled on the 50R because I liked the way it mounted better than the 50S, and I didn't need the couple extra features that the 50S has. The build quality of the 50R is extremely nice. It feels high dollar. Sena has always had nice hardware. The app is absolutely terrible though. I can't get over how bad it is. It took me over an hour to get the wifi adapter to connect to my network - I'm not sure setting up the wifi adapter is even worth it, as doing manual firmware updates is super easy. The 50 series has voice commands, which is new to me, and they work okay, but not great. I don't think it likes my southern accent. When it does work, it's great. The HD audio is definitely noticeable. They are still headphone speakers, but noticeably better than my SMH5. It's nice having a radio, just in case I'm traveling near bad weather - I can't see myself using it much outside of that. It's also nice being able to set up multiple bluetooth devices to the headset. I drive a BMW F750GS with the Connected TFT and I have the Sena set up to connect to it and also my iPhone. This means that the BMW can control the music while the headset is getting a bluetooth signal from either the bike or phone, it doesn't matter which. It also means when I go to my other bike, it works just the same, without the BMW hub in the center. I couldn't do this with my SMH5, so this alone was reason enough to upgrade. And finally, mesh. Mesh is definitely cool - no pairing, it honestly works as advertised. I usually stay in open mesh, and we actually ran into another group who was on the same channel and we all talked for a few minutes before we went our separate ways - definitely can't do that with the old tech. I have noticed that when I'm sitting next to my riding partner at a red light or something, the mesh can cut out. I'm not sure if that's because we're too close or what, but it usually sorts itself out after 20 seconds or so. Also, mesh does eat the battery. I can definitely notice when I've had mesh on for any period of time vs just bluetooth music streaming. I now understand why mesh has its own dedicated on/off button. But, the fast charging means you can easily get battery back at eating stops, which is great. All in all, great upgrade - I'm happy I kept the SMH5 for as long as I did, and I'm hoping the 50R lasts as long. ... show more

  • Nothing Better
Best communication with my wife when we are on our motorcycles. Sound quality is great and, easy to operate. Able to listen to music and communicate as well. Battery life could be better.

  • Software is terrible, setup doesnt work and there is no support on the site
I cant even get through the setup. The app cant find the wifi adapter thats required to complete setup. Im ready to return it. It tells you to visit sena.com where they have pdf's of the instructions that came with it that dont answer the questions you went there to find. Not recommended so far. Very very frustrating ... show more

  • One unit installed and it had a connection problem with one of the earpieces
The right side earpiece would cut out intermittently. Checked the connections multiple times and they were solid... Defective unit. Returned. Had it worked as well as the SRL2 that is in my new Shoei helmet, I would have been thrilled.
