Previously had the freedcom F1. It was fine for music, but didnt do much else well. Made the change to cardo because I wanted coms to my passenger. This thing is absolutely perfect. Four buttons to work the simple stuff keeps it easy. It is sleek and doesnt look stupid stuck to the side. It was easy to install and initiate connection to my phone and the other headset. Intercom function was well worth the money. It softens the music when we are talking, it takes no extra manipulation to go from jamming to our own separate music taste to having a conversation. If you are wondering between this and a different option, go with this. The only caveat being if you want to talk to several people. If you are only connecting to one more headset, you wont find anything better. ... show more

I bought my Spirit HD on Amazon when it was still $143. Installation on my old LS2 Valiant helmet took less than 10 minutes. It connected easily through the Cardo app, and pairing via Bluetooth was quick and straightforward. I've owned two Packtalk Bold units in the past, and I can honestly say that while the Spirit HD doesn't have all the features of the Packtalk series, it performs extremely well where it matters. The sound quality is good, the connection is fast, the noise cancellation works great, and the microphone provides excellent call quality. One common complaint I've seen is that you can't hear music clearly at highway speeds. That wasn't my experience at all. I recently completed a 100-mile ride and had no issues hearing my music. In fact, I actually had to turn the volume down because it was so loud. If you're trying to decide whether to spend significantly more on a Packtalk model or go with the Spirit HD, I would recommend the Spirit HD. It delivers excellent performance for the price. I'm even considering buying a standard Spirit unit for my second helmet so I have one available for a passenger. ... show more

This is a great inexpensive unit for a closed helmet. It took about 30-minutes to get it all mounted and wires routed. I love it. I use it mainly for listening to music as I'm riding, and it makes it all even more fun. Battery life is amazing! I don't have to charge it very often, and the charging time is fairly quick. I usually ride about 2-hrs and that will use up 25-30%. The buttons and the operation sequences can be a little tricky, but not complicated. By the time I had used it a few times, muscle memory took over and I can operate the proper button combinations just fine. Sound quality is pretty decent. Nice bass sound, but not too much. So, if you're more into a thumping bass, you will be disappointed. I can also adjust the equalizer settings on my iPhone if need be. Set-up was quick and easy. No problems with it synching to my phone and it connects easily every time I turn it on. The only thing I would point out is that the ear pads really made my helmet fit tighter, (full face), even with the pads nesting nicely in the ear pad wells. It's a small annoyance and I can still wear the helmet, but I probably wouldn't for an all-day ride. When I upgrade my helmet, I will probably size up. I recently purchased the Cardo Spirit communication system for my motorcycle, and I couldn’t be more impressed. Sound Quality: First off, the sound quality is fantastic. The speakers are crisp, with clear highs and deep bass that really enhance the listening experience. Whether I’m chatting with my riding group or listening to music, the audio is loud and clear, even at highway speeds. The noise-cancelling microphone works wonders, blocking out wind and road noise, so my riding buddies always hear me loud and clear without any annoying static or distortion. Bought this from a girlfriend who has An Extremely Loud sports bike and was always complaining she couldn't hear her music. This solved the problem as they are quite loud. If she was to turn her volume all the way up, which is inadvisable I think, I can hear the music outside her helmet. More importantly, if any of the kids call while we're out riding, she can take the call and make sure there's no emergency. I feel like these types of helmets headsets should come with two sets of mounting brackets, because most people have more than one helmet and it would be nice to be able to switch it when needed.
