I am severely allergic to permanent hair dye, so have to go with the semi-permanents. The downside with any of these type of dyes is the bleeding of color. It's going to dye your shower and your hands if you don't use gloves while rinsing out. It also fades after a few washings, so you have to reapply. Luckily I only wash my hair once a week. I have been really liking the black from Lunar Tides. It's highly pigmented and goes a long way. I have super thick and long hair and have had a few applications from one container. It has decent coverage over grays, but the gray strands will be the first to reveal themselves when it fades. ... show more

Hard to get a picture reference because how I did mine sorry. This is the best pic I have hope it helps at all. That said. So I put manic panic... purple? Magenta? I don't know at my roots. The coral from lunar tides in the middle and blended to this orange. I originally bought it to be a pumpkin head in October but things got crazy and then I didn't want to waste it. And I'm so happy I tested this! It is so vibrant, and granted I'm splitting 3 similar sized jars but I've touched up color twice, (I work in a hospital with a lot of covid rooms I feel like skipping any aspect of washing yourself in non negotiable) however if you have a less aggressive hair washing schedule. Could easily need less touching up. That said it also has spread well time wise. I still have dye left. I left mine in longer than the directions call for I will say, and besides my roots, hair has been bleached. But that said. The lunar tides portion looks like I colored my hair with the pink and orange highlighters. **Since it asked scent. Most unnatural hair color hair dyes. Have a fruity scent. Took the neon lime to my stylist since her neons don’t like my hair much, especially green. Looked amazing, no bleeding and it felt great. Since we usually bring my hair to platinum before a new color, it’s rare for my hair to feel very happy for a while but this one felt like the best conditioner I’ve ever had. Didn’t fade much either. The product arrived quickly and the packaging was beautiful! Very inviting, made me so excited to use it. The dye has gorgeous sprinkles of glitter in it. It is definitely extremely black. The product smells very good and has great coverage. My one down side to this product was that it made multi-colored application very difficult due to how much it bleeds when you wash it for the first couple of weeks. But if you're just using this one color, it works great as long as you rinse your tub out well after washing. ... show more

Alright so, I am a quick shopper even online, I’ll check reviews and pictures and maybe check out a YouTube video to see a better view of the color. I however didn’t notice it was vegan, I tend to avoid vegan products because simply I have not found any that meet my expectations for what I need or expect. I understand if it’s a lifestyle/ethical choice, more power to you, live your truth: but me personally, this brand now added to the list along with arctic fox are thumbs down for me. Arctic fox bleeds non stop everywhere, seems to permanently dye anything but your hair, and washes out in about 3 washes. Now with this product Pros: -it did not stain my skin, that was cool -it’s pretty thick so I did not make any kind of mess apply it, again cool -if you want like a fun little change for about a week, this is perfect because it washes out quick. -it didn’t bleed onto my clothes or bedding, or skin when washing my hair But that’s where the pros end Cons: - I couldn’t grip the seal so I used a safety pin to help me get an end up, some of the product came out on the safety pin and I saw even though it was thick, for hair color it’s fairly translucent. Red flag if you are experienced in regularly dying your hair 😩 if you want a lighter version or very temporary color it would be ideal, but for vibrance and hang time NOPE. -just when I rinsed it out, COLD WATER, and used no shampoo I could tell it was going to wash out quick, and I was right, it lasted about 3 washes total, pretty much gone after the 2nd wash honestly. My hair is not over processed or anything that would contribute to loss of color at that rate. I even use baby shampoo since it’s no harsh chemicals and honestly has helped preserve my colors better than any “color saving” products on the market. Another thing I didn’t favor was it didn’t stick to my freshly bleached roots. Again experienced hair artists know that usually will be the brightest spot, as well as bleaching helping seal color in if you do it correctly in a time period. So PRETTY MUCH if you want something temporary, or you’re wanting to test drive a color but not ready to commit; this is perfect. However if you’re looking for something that is long lasting, this is not it. May be a basic bih but I’ve been doing this for 17 years and have tried dozens of dye products and ion color brilliance I personally don’t feel can be beat. Extremely vibrant color, very minimal bleeding/transfer after coloring and even that just depends on the color, you may not get any bleeding or transfer at all. It also lasts a long time, as well as fades evenly so you won’t have splotchy hair as it fades, you’ll just go through lighter shades of Itself. ... show more

I bought two of the magic oracle thinking I’d need more but I was actually able to do my hair with just the one. I added a small spoonful of the aurora to it to make it closer to green than blue. This is the 6th time I have used lunar tides dye and I will be sticking with them forever. The color is bright and vibrant, smooths over a large amount of hair without having to add conditioner, rinses out clear and doesn’t stain the skin. The color when dripped on counters comes off just by putting regular bleach on it for less than 5 minutes. And my hair is so intensely soft after I use these dyes.
