  • Love it.
Color: Power | Pink | 2025 Size: XL (Elongated Shape)
After testing out several paddles below: Halo Power Max Halo Power XL Halo Control Max Halo Control XL I truly love the 'halo power xl'. In comparison to it's budget counter-part the EVO, this one is great because it is not head heavy. Just a quick recap for those wondering about the differences. The halo power paddle is the 'all-black' carbon face The halo control paddle is the 'black with checker' face The halo pro (which I did not test) is 'black with very small checker' face - I believe this one is Kevlar mixed. The Max version has a shorter handle and wider face, this paddle feels very 'airy/light' and quick at the net. Great for doubles. The XL Version has a longer handle and taller face, but less wide. This paddle also feels light and not very head heavy. Great for using with two-hands and long reach as well as delivering extra power especially for smashing down pop-ups. In my opinion either work; but I believe preference wise you should think 'do I use 2 hands often?' 'Am I at the net often?' MAX feels better for 2v2 where you are doing light dinks often and want to be quick, also the large sweet spot is helpful. XL feels better for 1v1 and also when you are hitting hard. Now besides the sizes; the difference between Power and Control is 13mm versus 16mm. They 'say' one offers more control and the other offers more power but this really barely feels true. These new generation paddles made from carbon as 'one structure' all deliver tons of power. The power paddle has great pop, swing speed, serve speed, and smash hits. The control paddle pops off slightly less hard, swing speed is similar, and you can argue the ball spins better/placement is better but I just do not notice a difference. I really enjoy the power version. Since these Halo's are the mid-line paddles from SLK, and Halo pro is next up, and Evo is down below. I would say push the budget higher and go for these halos. I was hitting out way too much with the evo. Clear difference in surface on these Halo paddles. Really felt my shot placement and power was great. Also the paddle just feels good to wield. I will say one thing though, do not order the 'neon green' version. For some reason mine came with grip tape that felt real bad in comparison to the other models. The Grey/Black model and Pink/Black model both have normal grip-tape. The grip tape is 'flat' unlike their omega series which has the grip tape that extrudes. Both feel good though. This grip tape is super grippy. Comes with a 1 year warranty as far as I can tell, very easy to register on Selkirks website. Their pro line in comparison has a limited lifetime warranty - so that may be important to you. I would clarify with Selkirk if the halo pro falls into that lineup but I do not believe it does. Anyway the halo power XL is my favorite paddle so far. Feels like an extension of me. I do not like the paddles with the 'aero' holes at the bottom, they do swing fast but if the ball hits there feels like the shot placement gets ruined. ... show more

  • All Around Power from the Halo Max - Beautiful Hot Pink Color - Stellar Selkirk Performance
Color: Power | Pink | 2025 Size: Max (All - Around Paddle)
As so many reviewers have already posted so many nice photos of this Selkirk Halo Power Max paddle, there won't be any need for me to add more of the beautiful as well as great performing hot pink version that I got. That said, this paddle has power in all the right places. I wouldn't say this is an extremely powerful paddle, but it adds enough power for me to feel like I am getting a little extra on my hits. The grit is raw carbon fiber T700 and is superior to other paddles I've used as it seems to impart so much more spin as well as appearing to be more durable and lasting a lot longer. While this paddle does pack a lot of power, it also still offers a lot of control. In addition, the grip is really well made, has a traditional tennis racket handle and is extremely comfortable to hold. Overall, this is another great Selkirk paddle and coming from one of the most reputable brands in the name. ... show more

  • Great Power and Spin, But Heavy for Some
Color: Power | Pink | 2025 Size: Max (All - Around Paddle)
This Selkirk SLK Halo Power MAX paddle offers excellent spin and power thanks to its raw carbon fiber surface and Rev-Core Power polymer core. It performs well for strong shots and gives great control on spin-heavy hits. However, it feels a bit heavy for longer play sessions, which might tire out some users. The sleek black design is sharp, but the weight makes it less ideal for players who prefer a lighter, quicker paddle. Overall, it’s great for power players, but not for those seeking a more agile option. ... show more

  • Attractive, large, excellent second step in moving from control to power
Color: Power | Pink | 2025 Size: Max (All - Around Paddle)
I got this paddle after trying a more entry level paddle from Selkirk. I still wanted the control that the Atlas offered but wanted to move up a run toward a power paddle. This is that. I had shoulder surgery, so moving up slowly was important to me. This paddle allowed me to play a good defensive game. It's also super cute and attractive, and let's face it, that matters. Well, it still matters to me. I haven't lost all my vanity, yet. The head is very large, the handle a little smaller. Make sure it's not too small for your grip. For me, it's ok and I get the added benefit of the larger hitting surface. My returns are always as good as I'd like but I miss less. The paddle face is high quality and shows it. I think the grip could be a little better. I'm not opposed to wrapping it when it needs some TLC but it just seems to be a little low quality for the market segment. ... show more

  • Control vs power paddle
Color: Power | Pink | 2025 Size: Max (All - Around Paddle)
I ordered both the control paddle and power paddle and have tried them both out in rec play. I started with the power paddle. It's a 13mm core and mine weighed slightly over 7.8 oz. I'm still fairly new to pickleball, and am not a power player. However, I noticed an immediate improvement in my game and ball handling with this paddle. It feels good in the hand, and I was able to react to balls more quickly. However, it was also easier to hit it long and out of the court. The control paddle has a 16mm core, and mine weighed slightly more than 8oz. I played with power players and it was easier to return the hits without going long. However, I was less responsive to fast volleys, came up short more often, and had a worse backhand. At the end of the session I also felt a little more strain in my arm. Both paddles felt good and I was able to hold my own with more advanced players. I'm tending to favor the power paddle at this point because it's a little lighter and easier for me to use, given that I am a petite 50+ female. My feelings may change as I progress in my skill level, but if you are beginner to intermediate, you can't go wrong with either paddle. Both have a nice sweet spot. ... show more
