    • Very nice looking wall clock with a couple of things to be aware of before you buy

I’d say the color on this is more of a medium brown than a dark brown. It’s just a bit darker than my well-aged natural cherry furniture. Compared to the image on this product page, the color of the clock I received looks very slightly darker and without a reddish tone. Be aware that the plastic battery compartment on the back of the clock isn’t inset. It’s attached to the flat back of the clock, which means that when you hang the clock, it doesn’t fit flat against the wall. Instead, there will be a gap of about half an inch. It still looks fine to me, but it may a problem for others, depending on where you’re planning to hang it. Another thing to be aware of is that there are no second markings, other than the little squares at 12, 3, 6 and 9. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but there’s something about the lack of minute marks and the design square inside the numbers that makes it difficult to be sure you’re placing the minute hand in the exactly the right spot. There is a second hand on the clock and it moves second by second (it’s not a “sweep” second hand), but it’s almost silent. The clock takes one AA battery, which came with it. So those are the more technical issues. The most striking feature of the clock is that it’s very nice looking. It will fit in with many decors, especially Arts & Crafts, Mission and Shaker styles. (It would make a nice gift for somebody with one of those styles of furniture.) We have it in our large living room and it’s very easy to read from all the way across the room and from the adjoining room. ... show more

Since I'm a wood worker, the biggest deal for me is that the wood isn't a wood laminate over MDF or fake other woods. After inspecting this, I would say it's real wood with a spray of laquer on top. I think I'll keep it. Some things I noticed is that it doesn't sit on the wall flush. It needs a thicker wood frame to do that. But it does create a shadow underneath which some may like. Another thing is the body is made in China, and the movement is made in Thailand. Hope the pictures help. ... show more

Unfortunately, this clock traveled the United States for 3 weeks before I received it! Tracking it was very frustrating!! After several phone calls and trips to UPS offices, I came home to find it had arrived. We hung it over a French door and placed small moose antlers on either side. Very handsome!! ... show more
