This product has helped clear out images stored on my laptop to ensure efficiency while keeping photo quality crisp. Came with a warranty and I expect to have no issues with this device to use it. Great price for the type of drive and capacity. This item was recommended by two friends who work in IT. The serial number is short and easy to read. ... show more

  • Beware of what you purchase!
Color: Black Capacity: 2TB Style: Portable HDD
I've used many (10 to be exact) of these USB Expansion or Slim Backup Drives. Of the ten (10) Drives I've owned, five (5) have failed due to internal Hardware failures (lots of clicking). Two (2) were under warranty, so I received replacements quickly from Seagate. However the only issue here is you do NOT get a brand new Drive , but instead get a used re-certified Drive with 6 months worth of warranty. I recently purchased two (2) new Drives. One was an Expansion 2TB Drive and the 2nd was a 2TB Slim Backup Drive. Both came with exFAT file systems. In the past they were always NTFS file systems. Anyway, neither of these two (2) new 2TB Drives can connect to my LG Smart TV. The Smart TV just doesn't recognize the USB Drives. All of my previous USB Drives can easily connect to my Smart TV, which I use for watching downloaded movies. I thought the problem might be with the exFAT (MAC supported) file system, so I formated the new Drives from exFAT to NTFS. Since there is no Disk Management Utility to convert from exFAT to NTFS without losing your Data you are forced to reformat and in doing so you will lose whatever data was on the Drives. Backing up everything before reformatting was just time consuming and at the end of all of that effort changing to a NTFS file system didn't help at all. My Smart TV still does NOT recognize the two (2) new Seagate USB Drives I purchased in JUN 2022. Therefore, each of my two (2) new Seagate 2TB Drives are useless from my prespective, because I'm unable to connect them to my Smart TV for watching movies. Another issue when purchasing these Drives is you really need to pay attention to who the Supplier is and what the age of the Device is. I was later told by Amazon to only purchase from Amazon and NOT from any other Supplier. I accidently purchased my new Expansion 2TB Drive that was dated DEC 2021, so when I bought it in JUN 2022, I only got a warranty until DEC 2022 (only 6 months) when technically I should have received one (1) full year from the purchase date instead of the date of manufacture. Currently, I'm extremely disappointed with my last two (2) purchases of Seagate portable USB Drives. Obviously something has changed, which is preventing my LG 55" Smart TV from recognizing these new USB Drives. I have no problem connecting any of my older Seagate USB Drives (1TB or 2TB Expansion or Slim Backup models) to my Smart TV. I'm thinking maybe it's related to USB 3.0, but they're supposed to be downward compatible with USB 1.0 or 2.0 devices. I just do NOT understand why the newer USB Drives aren't working what-so-ever. After further investigation, I noticed that some of my short USB Cables (from a working USB Drive to the LG Smart TV USB Port) work when connected to my LG Smart TV and some don't work. Why is a mystery, because looking at the USB Cables there's absolutely no difference. All of the short USB Cables work when connected to a Laptop or a Desktop Computer. It's only questionable when connecting the LG Smart TV. So if your USB Drive is File System NTFS & the Partition is MBR and the Drive doesn't work on your TV try another short USB Cable until you find one that works. I have also figured out how to make my USB Drives work on the LG Smart TV. The File System must be NTFS (requires reformating from exFAT) and the Partition must be MBR (Master Boot Record). You can use DiskPart to change to MBR, but this also requires you to clean the Drive (erases everything - becomes an unallocated Drive and you have to use the Disk Wizard to create the Volume). Plus the Folder/File Names can't exceed 100 Characters. Any Folder/File Name over 100 Characters will not show up on the USB Drive when plugged into the Smart TV. If I had known this I would have reformated 1st to NTFS from exFAT and changed to MBR with my Blank USB Drive. All of my other Seagate USB Drives all loaded with NTFS & MBR, so I never noticed. Given I had copied around 1.5 TB of data on the new USB Drive I had to back it up first before Formatting to NTFS and Partitioning to MBR. This was the time consuming part of the exercise (copying 1.5 TB across multiple USB Drives, so as not to loose any of that data). Quick Formatting and changing to MBR was practically instantaneous (very fast). Back in business, but what a headache. Personally, I think when you select Windows PC Start here, Seagate should auto create a NTFS File System and MBR Partitions. Defaulting to an exFAT File System and GUID Partition Table doesn't work for most Smart TV's. ... show more
