Description

Use the Scotts® Turf Builder® EdgeGuard® DLX Broadcast Spreader to apply fertilizer, grass seed, and other lawn care products. This lawn spreader comes pre-calibrated and ready-to-use, and holds up to 15,000 sq. ft. of Scotts® product. When EdgeGuard™ is engaged, it will block off the right-side of the spreader pattern to prevent product from spreading onto non-lawn areas. Using the Scotts® Turf Builder® EdgeGuard® DLX Broadcast Spreader is simple. To begin, turn rate control dial to the correct setting listed on the back of each Scotts® product, pour the product in the hopper, then start spreading. The spreader's design enhancements feature a curved hopper and dual-bladed agitator for smooth product funneling and consistent coverage. Spreaders provide uniform coverage of granular products; without one, you may end up with uneven coverage of fertilizer or control products that can result in uneven feeding, weed, disease, or insect control. Scotts® spreaders can also be used to distribute salt on walkways and driveways.

  • Easy assembly (5 minutes), sturdier, more comfortable to use, works well!
Size: Single Pack Style: Elite
Paid $112.79 after $20 coupon savings. Easy assembly, wider stance than my older model, tires are bigger, more comfortable to use, spreads products wider making for less trips with these old legs. Spreads product well. I used setting 4 1/2 with Ace Winterizer fertilizer. Overall, much better spreader than previous Scotts spreader I had. Hopefully the metal axle won't rust and break on this one. I always rinsed the spreader after application but now I will be spraying the axle and other parts with some kind of rust preventer lubricant. ... show more

  • Works Good Enough
Size: Single Pack Style: Elite
It was very easy to turn and drop a bunch of fertilizer that will burn your grass very quickly. You need to let go of the handle and stop spreading when you plan to turn your spreader. Otherwise, it spreads pretty good but you have to get use to it.

For the front and backyard, I use the Scotts Turf Builder EdgeGuard Mini Broadcast Spreader and combine Spectracide Triazicide Insect Killer, Sevin 100530128 GardenTech Insect Killer, Victor VP364B-10 Snake-A-Way Outdoor Snake Away, and Cedarcide Lawn, Home & Garden Cedar Granules. This mixture is ideal for keeping snakes and insects at bay. Life is so much simpler when you use this spreader. Compared to how I used to do it, this method completes the task far more quickly. ... show more

  • A Substantial Improvement…
Size: Single Pack Style: Elite
over the Deluxe Rotary model. The Elite version spreads very evenly, and it is way better than the Deluxe model I have (admittedly about seven years old), which spreads too heavily on the right side and too lightly on the left side (and has since it was new). This spreader throws very evenly to the right, left, and out front. I couldn’t detect any material coming out of the rear (a good thing). Their claimed spread distance of six feet from left to right is pretty accurate. This model comfortably holds ~3/4 of a 50-lbs bag of fertilizer. The dial setting seems to closely match the often-referred-to Scotts Speedy Green Rotary spreader. For my application, the Lesco-recommended setting of 5.5 for their 30-0-10 fertilizer I used it to spread was spot on. I put it through quite the test - used it on five acres. I planned to use it only for about the first 1 – 1.5 acres and then switch to a pull-behind for the remainder, but honestly, it went so quickly that I decided to just keep going. After a good bit of walking, pushing, and fertilizer pouring, low and behold, I had the full five acres done! After I finished, this spreader was still going strong, so I feel pretty good that it will at least last a few seasons for me (maybe more). The edge guard works better than on the Deluxe, but it’s still not perfect. It actually closes the opening for the left side spreader, but a small amount still got through. Honestly, I wouldn’t tout the Edge Guard capability too highly, so if you plan to use it, be ready for a little bit of material to drop once you disengage the edge guard. One con: Sometimes, when the hopper is about 2/3 to completely full, the outlets don't close completely when the handle is released unless you pull and release said handle quickly a couple of times. This didn't happen often, but I wonder if it will get worse with more usage as springs begin to lose tension/strength. It helps to remember to release the handle quickly, not slowly, in order to get the outlets to close when desired. Lastly - I use spray Teflon to lubricate the cables, gear boxes, axles, handles, and the open/close tabs at the bottom of the hopper. I believe this helps keep these items from sticking as time and use goes on, and it won’t make the fertilizer cake/stick to those areas like grease or oil will. Remember to wash it off and let it dry after using before applying the lubricant. Good luck and enjoy! ... show more

  • The fix is very easy
Size: Single Pack Style: Elite
I am very disappointed. The return window ran out after 90 days. I bought it early, at Scott's suggestion, so I would be all ready for spring. What's going on? I used it 3 times. The third time I used it this season, it stopped working (the rotters wouldn't turn at all) in the middle of trying to put down Scott's Max Green, now what???? For a hundred dollars, save your money, looks cool, but breaks after 2 and 1/2 uses. Seems kind of expensive per use, I'm not that rich. Normally I love Scott's, but this is a huge disappointment. Called Scott's Consumer Service line. Spoke to someone who didn't know what they were doing. After 32 Minutes, I decided Scott's wasted enough of my time. Said they would refund my money if I cut something off the spreader and send it to them. He/she? didn't know how my money was going to be refunded. They were very confused! What a disappointment! I have NEVER EVER had this type of service from Scott's, EVER. Got a reply back from Scott's to call the same number I originally called. Guess they didn't read my comments, just the rating I gave them. Continuing to disappoint me. Called back and ordered the kit to fix. I will let you know how it turns out. BTW the lot number is printed on the green upper guard on the left hand side facing the spreader. They are going to ask you for this number., It starts with a 17 or 18. Well here we go again I had to call customer service and ask for the repair kit it doesn’t appear the first order was ever made so Here we go again I’ll let you know how things turn out hopefully well I’m really excited about the spreader itself. Receive the kit it was very easy to install it took less time to install the kit then it would to cut off the cable and mail it I give Scott’s a lot of credit for Identifying a problem and actually fixing it free to the customer Scott’s hasn’t let me down !! ... show more

  • Much Better Spreader Than the Cheaper Scott's Spreaders
Size: Single Pack Style: Elite
Only used it a couple of times so I can't say how it will hold up in years to come, but it is built and performs significantly better than the cheaper Scott's spreaders I have purchased in the past. Very easy to assemble and all the controls work as advertised. At this time, I do not regret spending the extra money for this spreader. ... show more

  • Perfect for smaller yards.
Size: Single Pack Style: Mini
A more sleek unit than I am used to but just as good. It spreads well with no jamming. Easy out of the box to setup and get rolling. Super light weight.
