I order 3 of the mounting battery charger/maintainers at the same time for 3 different vehicles. I liked the fact that these mounted permanently to the vehicle, that way I never had to case do where I left it (or where my son barrowed and left it). But when I removed the charger from the Amazon box, I heard a weird rattling noise. And when I actually removed the charger from the box, I realized the noise was coming from the inside of the battery charger. So I decided to remove the screws on the backside of the charger to see what was rattling around inside. Once I removed the back of the charger, I dumped out 4 screws & a bunch of plastic parts that mounted the control board to the inside of the of the unit. It seemed as though when it was assembled someone over tightened the mounting screws and broke the plastic mounting tabs inside the unit. Unfortunately all 3 units that I ordered had the exact same problem. I really liked the price and the functionality of this charger, but I was afraid if I ordered 3 more I was going to see the exact same issues. So I just returned them for a refund and ordered a different brand that Unfortunately did not have the same functionality. ... show more

I used this to keep a trickle charger on my zero-turn. First of all it fits in your palm (take that with a grain of salt, I wear a size large glove) but still it is pretty small. I had zero issues finding a mounting spot on the chassis close enough to the battery to permenantly install it. I'm sure there are those who wouldn't do that but there's no harm in having a float charger on your mower all year long. It gets cold here and I know if I left it up to the elements it wouldn't start in the spring. I'm going to be getting a second one for the Cub Cadet and call it a day. Great product and very easy to operate. Just plug it up. It's waterproof so as long as the connection to the extention cord is protected you don't have anything to worry about. I would still throw a tarp over everything if you're storing something outdoors though. Great build quality as well. I'm not going to test the durability unless it happens by accident but it feels substantial in the hand. It's not overly heavy but solidly made. ... show more

My wife has a Ranger that she no longer drives as she has trouble climbing in with arthritic knees, I bought her an Accord that she now drives. I have replaced two batteries due to sulfated plates caused by sitting at a low state of charge for extended periods. The simple solution is to sell the truck, but once vehicles get names, (Her name is Belle as in Blue Belle, of course my Honda Element is Gandalf as in Gandalf The Gray from Lord Of The Rings.) my wife has a hard time parting with them. With the Schumacher battery maintainer onboard and the plug protruding from the hood next to the headlight Belle stays plugged in and keeps a full charge at all times. I also have one on my riding mower that sits from late fall to spring plugged in. ... show more

Piece of crap. I bought two of these last year, put one in my sisters truck right away, put the other on the shelf. Went to put it in my truck this fall and it rattles. Since it's past the return window I took the back cover off to see what's wrong. The circuit board mounts were shattered, and a couple screws were rolling around inside. This was still in the plastic wrap until an hour ago. Checked the one in my sisters truck and the same thing. Plastic mounts broken. It's not going back in. Schumacher used to be good. ... show more
