  • Works, seems sturdy.
My Camaro battery was dead and I had 1 regular/agm charger and 2 of the newer small type chargers that are supposed to restore completely dead batteries. I use the small ones for trickle chargers mainly. None would charge the dead battery in my 2010 Camaro and battery was only a couple months old. Tester showed under 2%, so I ended up buying this better pro series charger. As soon as I connected pos and neg cable from charger to battery my alarm went off on the car, that's a good sign. Was even able to open trunk and doors with remote. Put the DSR 118 on charging, after about minute, heard click sound and showed charging started. Let charger charge battery for 7 hours and showed 100% and car started. I could have started it with the jump start feature on the DSR 118 but wanted to slower charge the battery. Only odd thing I didn't understand was the charger showed 95% when I was charging and was less than 2%. If it works, is what mattered to me. Jump start feature will come in handy. Will test that on a vehicle that has been sitting over a year. This charger is heavy too, not like a battery, but doesn't feel cheap. The display where you push buttons is only sub par quality I could find, is like a thin flexible plastic and over time could loosen up. Would buy again. ... show more

  • That it works
Couldn’t start my car with the charger I had so I bought this one. I hook it up to the battery. When the battery was fully charged, I unplugged the charger and started the car.

  • Full feature and powerful, wish it were a bit less smart
Excellent charger, better than what you find at the local big box stores. Its powerfull but in a small package. I love the thoughtful cord storage, big well made clamps and cables, and digital screen. Since it does have a boost mode, it should be able to desulfate batteries and being then back, supposedly even if at 0v. Many great functions and modes to control things better than pure automatic chargers. The one I mainly bought it for was the service/boost mode, to maintain my battery during an ecu tune. My german car needs to maintain voltage with the ignition on and this did the trick, kept it at 13.6v as long as I didn't open the door. This is the one downside, the charger would react to the drop in voltage and up the amps, but I never saw it hit 40amps, rather upper 20s and then it would drop back down to 15amps or less, and the voltage would drop. Its too smart for its own good. Would be nice to have a constant 40amps, or at lest be able to maintain 13.6v with any of the doors open, which is often when servicing. Key on, HVAC, stereo, and lights off, it kept 13.6v no problem. So it can be used to hold voltage during ecu programming, with some exceptions. For the price and capability, its hard to beat. ... show more

  • Hard to use - Doesn't work well - No Technical Support & still under warrenty
Purchased on June 2020, used it around 5 times so far, never thought to actually count the uses. :) Buyer beware --- I would suggest look elsewhere. Technical Support Non-existent. Push buttons don't respond reliably sometimes it responds and other times nothing happens. The charger kind of has a mind of its own, you’re not necessarily in control I purchased to use mostly in the service mode to maintain battery voltages while checking vehicle programing options. It’s a voltage critical task, in fact anytime for whatever reason you put a charger on a vehicle, voltage is very important. Called Technical Support to ask some technical questions, not which button to press. I would like to know what the maximum voltage this charger will put out. Interstate battery technical support says some chargers can harm your vehicle with to high voltages. 1st call (I am a patient and a polite caller) they put me on hold because I was having trouble hearing one word. 20 minutes later came back asking what I wanted. I explained I was waiting for and without them saying another word back on hold for another 20 minutes. Finally got the hint they were just trying to get rid of me and I finally hung up. 2nd call, after waiting through all the verbal ads again to get to their leave a message & get a call back. Several days later and no call back. 3rd call days later, now in voice mail hold, hearing all the same sales ads many times again and 20 minutes has passed and they just dumped the call, never did reach a person. 4th call I will just leave a message and hope for the best. Sales ads always come first then I get to pressed 1 for leave a message and the call instantly goes to dead silence and drops off again. So now you to know what I mean when I say Technical support is non-existent and the product also does not work so well. Disappointed ... show more

  • Fully Automatic Battery Charger
I needed a replacement for my 15-year-old battery charger. I have some collector cars that need periodic charging as well as some other motor vehicles. This charger appears well made and is fully automatic-just connect it to the negative and positive battery terminals, plug it in, and it will diagnose what the battery needs, charge it, and then switch to a maintenance mode. It displays battery voltage and charge percentage during the process. I gave it only 3 stars for ease of use because it comes with little/poor information as to how to use it, so my initial reaction was "how do I use this charger?". Fortunately, what I found was, that all you really need to do is connect it to a battery for a battery charge and maintenance. ... show more

  • Excellent and safe charger.
Plugged the charger in and it analyzed the battery. Said it was a bad battery. Put the charger into service mode and the battery displayed 10 amps. Watched my current decrease to 0 Amps. Restarted charger and it went into maintain mode and said 95% charged and after 1 hour at 2 amps I had a fully charged battery. This charger is heavy and solidly built. Simply amazing tech. I originally started with a battery that was below the minimum detection voltage for the charger, and used a cheap trickle charger to get it above the voltage this charger was able to detect. I WOULD NOT PUT A SECOND BATTERY IN THE MIX TO FOOL THE CHARGER INTO SENSING A BATTERY THAT WAS REPORTED AS BAD. I think by putting it to service mode to desulpher your battery will repair and charge safely. ... show more

  • Did not work properly
Received the charger in a timely manner but the box itself had seen better days. No biggy as long as the thing worked right?... Well, it charged the two batteries I had quickly enough; but that was all it managed to accomplish. Cold weather (and shoddy electric wiring on my old truck) drained the battery as I expected it would so I hooked this up to it and set it to boost/start. It would click on and off repeatedly instead of staying on and after a while would say that the battery was bad. Which it most certainly isn't as (after using my portable jump-starter to get the truck going) the battery is working perfectly fine to date. A design feature/issue that I found is that the selection button cycles through and requires you to wait a while before it begins working; causing some unnecessary confusion on whether or not it is set to the proper function. There are many out there that give you a definitive jump start switch <which is what I will be looking for if/when I decide to buy another one. Having two other devices, my intention was to have this "all-in-one" for ease and simplicity. It charges faster than my initial one and was suppose to start my truck (not "if" but) when the battery drains; saving the internal battery on my portable jumper. It gets 2/5 stars simply because it at least charged the batteries quickly enough... but that's all I managed to get it to do. Returned and resigned myself to using the portable for starting the truck when the battery drains. ... show more

  • Works better then the last version does .
Nice product. A tad confusing if you do not read what the button does .but it works . I have a 3 year old agm battery and I swear it was good. When I charged it.it would say bad battery . But it starts the car but drains overnight. I guess I need to trust the tool and not what I thnk is right. Replaced the battery and no more draining overnight. Sigh.. works fine charges fast and check a lot of “stuff” lol. Recommended . ... show more
