This is the forth Schmacher jump pack our company has purchased for a reason. This pack is well built and very reliable in a professional auto collision repair shop. It has the capacity to jump multiple cars without recharging. We have been able to get years of service from these packs and will continue to use them in the future. Only downside is they do not come with a charging cord and you will need commit a short extension cord to this to guarantee it is ready when you need it. So for the 👎: it's heavier than expected. Now the 👍: it charges pretty quickly. I have a full size v8 truck and today as I was working on an interior part of it, I had the aux turned on so I can raise the window regulator I was replacing. My battery died so I brought it the fully charged jump start out and hooked it up. I pressed the battery tester and it showed 1/2 battery which I'm assuming it was truck battery not the JS. I turned the key and it stated right up. I was concerned it wouldn't jump the battery because most that say they work on v8 engines, normally don't. This one surprised me. ... show more

The black plastic battery clamp literally flew apart during the initial battery charge. I plugged the unit in to charge it for 36 hours, as the instructions specify, and as I was walking away, I heard a snapping sound and half the handle, spring and plastic pieces flew across the room. I suspect that the plastic clamp was brittle and that just the pressure from the spring was enough to break it. I had just opened the box and hadn't even removed the clamps from their resting post by that point. Ok, it's made of cheap plastic instead of metal, but things happen even with the best equipment at times. The worst part of it is that Amazon says it can't be returned, and to contact the manufacturer. So... I called Scumacher and told them if they can just send me a new clamp I can replace it myself, saving both the expense and time of returning this heavy unit. They asked me to send a photo, which I did. It's now been two days and I've heard nothing but crickets. If they come through I'll revise my rating, but for now I have nothing complimentary to say about either the product or the support I'm receiving from Amazon or Schumacher. UPDATE: Changed my rating from 1-star to 4-star after Schumacher sent me a replacement clamp at no charge. Still a bit of an inconvenience to change the clamp out, but all's well that ends well. They did the right thing. Deducting one star for the cheap plastic clamp design, but since I will mostly be using the unit for the 12VDC lighter socket and not to jump start vehicles, this unit looks like it will work well for me. The 22 mAh battery is bigger than some of its competitors, and that's what's most important to me. ... show more

I have a Range Rover HSE with a dead battery right now. It uses a massive battery and no one has it in stock until Friday where I am. I bought a Cat jumper at Costco... trash!! Will NOT start my car. So after the 3rd roadside assistance visit I asked what model they had. It was this brand. Charged it, first try within seconds, truck turns on. The Cat one I bought at Costco was $100. For $20 more and 1800amps... yea. I'm keeping this one. ... show more
