Perfect for larger homes or anyone looking for enhanced limescale control, this electronic water descaler gets the job done with potent reliability. Read more Trust the Original We’ve been at this for close to 3 decades now! Scalewatcher traces its beginnings to Holland in 1991, when a physics-loving teacher was granted a patent for an electronic descaler. 27 years later and Scalewatcher is the go- to electronic limescale remover for homes, businesses, and waterparks worldwide. The secret behind the longevity? The hunger for innovation. We’re always on the quest to make our water descalers more effective, more efficient, more user-friendly, and more durable. To achieve this we borrow from our years of experience in the field, compound that with premium materials, and proudly bring it all together right in the USA. So go ahead, keep your plumbing limescale-free with a descaler with pedigree. Read more Know the Science Wondering how Scalewatcher keeps your plumbing clean and your water soft? It all has to do with the beauty of electromagnetism. Limescale build-up in your plumbing and faucets is caused by minerals in your water depositing on the surfaces. Scalewatcher creates an ever-changing magnetic field through 2 coils that causes the mineral ions to crystallize and flow along with the water instead of sticking to pipe walls or clogging faucets. Just place Scalewatcher 4 Star around the water inlet pipe after the meter to prevent any future lime scale build-up and gradually remove existing deposits. So now you don’t have to resort to costly salt-based water conditioners that are an expense and a hassle to maintain. With Scalewatcher, you get the simple solution to hard water problems. Read more Better Efficiency; Improved Lifetime Water heater, faucets, or shower heads, Scalewatcher 4 keeps mineral build-up at bay so that they can remain in tip-top shape for that much longer. Enjoy Every Drop Bring back the joy to taking a shower; bring back the sparkle to your dishes. Less limescale means softer water, clearer glassware, and better baths. • Call it what you will. The ONLY thing that matters is that it WORKS.
Worked great for just under 2 years. Now it's DOA. Over the last few months I've seen a scale build up on the faucets, need to put CLR down the toilet so it will flush I've sent emails to Scalewatcher to see what the problem is and not even a whisper. For the amount of money I spent on this thing, I expected a longer life, and a better response - check that, A response from the manufacturer. Nothing has changed in the installation, the meter is still pulsing, and the unbroken wiring is attached nice and snugly. After reading all the negative press on this, I wasn't sure. However, I did a lot of research on my own and found out this is a proven technology in industrial and commercial settings and I read the reviews on the Los Angeles county website...LA has illegalized salt based water softeners due to the increased salination of the water table killing crops and a few other things. Read about if you're interested. The point is, this is NOT voodoo science, as all the negative reviews would lead you to believe...I can only assume that those reviews are provided courtesy of the salt water softener folks. Here is what happened to me since I installed it per instructions myself a bit over 3 months ago. I have stopped using CLR to get my toilet to flush. I needed to pour CLR down the plastic spout inside the tank twice a month on average to keep the toilet flushing. Even then, it wasn't great. A few weeks after I installed the Scalewatcher, I noticed I hadn't needed to put any CLR in and it was still flushing well. To date, I have not put anything into my toilet and it roars when it flushes. One flush per use and I've been able to decrease the amount of water I need to use per flush. Water pressure has increased throughout the whole house. It used to be if the kitchen sink was on, the bathroom tap had minimal water pressure...like a trickle. Now, I can flush the toilet, run the bathroom tap and the kitchen with only a slight drop in pressure. My washing machine works much better and my clothes are not stiff. Also, the rough feeling inside the tub is gone. What I mean is, when you'd run your fingers inside the tub of the washing machine, there was a slight roughness to the touch. Now it's smooth and you can make it squeak. My dishwasher has never worked better. Ever. My glassware is clear, not cloudy. My dogs ceramic water dish is loosing the scale build up inside. Not as fast as the washing machine, but I don't wash it often. The rest of the dishes have a squeak when it's done washing and the flatware doesn't have any deposits on it like it used to. My coffee maker hasn't dinged me to run the descale cycle in 2 months. 2 months. I had to run the cycle with vinegar every few weeks. The carafe stays clear now. I just rinse it out and put it in the rack to dry. Done. My ice cubes don't taste weird, and when I put them into my coffee, they don't leave scummy rings in the cup (it's black) like before. I mentioned the ice cubes, but I should also mention that the filtered water from the fridge no long leave deposits in the catch tray or the spout and the pressure there has increased considerably. The faucet screens and shower head haven't needed to be cleaned out in a couple of months; the faucets were a fairly regular cleaning exercise and the shower head was a weekly performance. Again, the water pressure is outstanding. I am just a mook who got tired of the constant maintenance and upkeep, and still having super hard water. I hauled out my Mr. Softee and took a chance. I am very happy I did. Don't take my word for it. Information is available, there are links posted in a few of these reviews for you to review. LA county has a site devoted to alternative water treatment solutions. This is NOT a softener, it is a descaler. Whatever you want to call it, the only thing that matters is that it WORKS. 3 months in and I am never going back to salt, or the slimy feel of the shower water. ... show more

  • Works well for my household.
We put this in a new construction 4 bed, 3.5 bath, 3 story house. Hard water here in Santa Ana, CA sucks. Definitely noticeable on the shower doors within just a few days. Dish water has hard water stains like I've never seen. My eczema is quick to act up. I installed this on a 1.5 inch copper main water line in the garage, right after the water meter. If I recall correctly, I think I got around 28 wraps of the wire, top and bottom. Been running it non-stop 2 to 3 months. Hard water stains are definitely not as bad. Definitely easier to clean. My eczema is still there, but doesn't flare up as badly as before. It works as described, that is, it conditions the water. Definitely, later I'll get a true water softener and install it downstream from where I installed this. ... show more

  • Works great with well water! Easy to install! Saved hundreds of dollars!
We have purchased this product for our full house well water when our traditional water softener stopped working. We’ve had it installed about 2 months ago and I should say that we really like it! The water is harder than before when we used salt, but I like that it doesn’t take forever to wash the soap off. We didn’t have too much of the descaling process since we did have a softener in the house. I can definitely see the difference in the water and am very happy with it. It doesn’t smell like anything, just very clean water. The installation took about an hour that included wrapping the wire around the pipe and attaching the unit to the beam in the basement. No brainer at all. My husband, who has very traditional views, was very skeptical about purchasing it but now is very happy that he cancelled new softener installation and saved hundreds of dollars. And the best part that we don’t have to drag those 40 lbs bags of salt to the basement every month! Overall we are very happy with the purchase and I would highly recommend it to everyone! ... show more

  • Easy to install - real improvement
Easy install, to go along with our potassium water softener on our well (FYI, you install on the FEED side flowing into the softener). Our water tasted "OK" before, but now it's like bottled water coming out of our well; tastes SO much better.Your mileage may vary, as we have good well water to start with (live in the foothills near Lake Tahoe). Got this device to help cut the mineral deposits we were still getting on dishes, fixtures, etc. Time will tell if those dissolve, but even if they don't this was money well spent. ... show more

  • Worthless
I bought this unit for it's ease of install. Unfortunately, after two months of use, with no change in my association water's hardness. I had to accept the fact it was worthless, and buy a salt based water softener. Of course, by the time I had to accept it was a waste of time, the date of being able to return it had passed. ... show more

When our salt softener died, we purchased this scalewatcher. Have one in our vacation home so thought we try it on the farm with well water. It’s doing a fair job and the cost was right.

  • It really works, like magic
I have installed Scalewatcher units to properties before and they really do work well. Latest one is already softening the scale, it has cleaned up our electric kettle already and softened the scale around taps.

  • So far so good.
The install took 30 minutes by myself. I got almost 50 wraps around the pipe with the wire so if it's going to with that should do it. Everything appears to be working properly. The directions were simple and clear. My water is about 64 gpg so it's quite hard. The commercial grade water softener couldn't keep up. I'll post again in a month or so. ... show more
