  • Its Dead in record time
Size: 128GB Style: Flash Drive
Well I bought two of these in April. I have used them only a few times each and not for long periods at a time. Yes, they did get hot, but nothing terrible. They are fast in USB 3.0. Overall I liked the design and the function of the drive when it worked. However what I do not like is plugging one of them in and seeing that it has 0 out 0 bytes free and will not open. It cannot be formatted with Windows or Ubuntu. It cannot be partitioned, with windows or another program. This drive is DEAD. This happened awhile ago, I am just now going through my order history here and saw this pop up and noticed that I cannot return it due to being out of the 30 day return period, and decided on a review. Thats another thing, 30 day return period? Are we not expecting these to last very long? I think it did last just a bit more than 30 days but there was no more than 8 uses on it. So all the data that I had on it ... gone. So before you buy this I would really suggest not making this your primary storage for anything important, always have a backup somewhere else. • Good buy SanDisk... I am done with this brand.
Size: 128GB Style: Flash Drive
I am actually always a SanDisk fan, use all my memory cards this brand. I have about 5 cards and drive total. They were great before until recently... I am using this drive in the car for music only. Also brought another 128gb samsung at the same time. No problem with the samsung. Just like other reviewer mentioned, this particular 128gb sandisk runs super hot. Worse of all. This card skips music randomly... I know because I swap this with the samsung between 2 cars, and it seem to happen only on this card, so it's not the car.... I have another SD card that is SanDisk which I used for camera only. Also starting to having issues with it.... ... show more

  • Performance quickly degrades over time, hot, inconsistent speeds.
Size: 128GB Style: Flash Drive
It was fast when I first got it, speeds were over 120 MB/s read and over 30 MB/s write. However, after transferring 100 GB+ files several times, the performance quickly degraded. Now it's showing 40 MB/s read and 25 MB/s write. The culprit I'm assuming is the heat, it simply toasted itself. Like other reviewers have said, it gets extremely hot even after just a couple minutes. Imagine how long it would take and the amount of heat it would suffer writing 116 GB worth of files onto it, then reading 116 GB of files as you transfer them off. A few transfer sessions and this thing quickly burned itself out. Still, the price you pay for 128 GB of storage isn't bad, and the performance is still okay. ... show more

  • Why is this so slow?
Size: 64GB Style: Flash Drive
I got this and started transferring files to it. It seemed very slow. I got some diagnostic speed testing software and it confirmed what I already knew. It's slow. Average read speeds were about 100 MB/s but the write speeds averaged 20 MB/s and below. That is very poor. But this drive is inexpensive, has no annoying lights on it, and fits on a key chain. So, I'm keeping it but I'm disappointed in SanDisk, a company I have bought many drives from in the past. See the benchmarks below. Larger file transfer speeds are much better than smaller ones. 8192k:12 Write Speed:22.10MB/s 8192k:12 Write Speed:15.99MB/s 8192k:12 Write Speed:15.72MB/s 8192k:12 Average Write Speed:17.51MB/s 8192k:12 Read Speed:107.11MB/s 8192k:12 Read Speed:115.76MB/s 8192k:12 Read Speed:115.37MB/s 8192k:12 Average Read Speed:112.60MB/s 4096k:25 Write Speed:12.04MB/s 4096k:25 Write Speed:6.47MB/s 4096k:25 Write Speed:4.84MB/s 4096k:25 Average Write Speed:6.75MB/s 4096k:25 Read Speed:98.16MB/s 4096k:25 Read Speed:99.37MB/s 4096k:25 Read Speed:94.72MB/s 4096k:25 Average Read Speed:97.38MB/s 2048k:50 Write Speed:3.77MB/s 2048k:50 Write Speed:5.07MB/s 2048k:50 Write Speed:4.25MB/s 2048k:50 Average Write Speed:4.30MB/s 2048k:50 Read Speed:99.20MB/s 2048k:50 Read Speed:99.35MB/s 2048k:50 Read Speed:98.75MB/s 2048k:50 Average Read Speed:99.10MB/s ... show more

  • WARNING: This drive gets HOT!!!
Size: 128GB Style: Flash Drive
I've been impressed with the size and speed of the drive so far, and it works great as a keychain, but the drive itself gets VERY hot and is difficult to touch, especially closer to the port. I would recommend gripping the back of the drive near the plastic loop when removing the drive from your computer. Just thought I would warn everyone since I could see getting burned. ... show more

  • Small flash drive with good speed
Size: 16GB Style: Flash Drive
Overall this is a great flash drive, it gets around 140MBs read and 40MBs write (Slightly slower than the 64GB version). It's not quite as fast as the SanDisk extreme version but it's the fastest metal drive I've found, you can see a benchmark in the attached image. The metal design seems sturdy and should hopefully hold up to being thrown around with my keys. My only complaint would be that the drive is part metal (silver portion) and the key ring part is plastic (black/grey portion in picture). I was hoping it would be all metal but the plastic key ring seems sturdy and it should hold up over time. One other note is that the drive can get very warm when doing large transfers, it's to be expected for a small metal drive like this but it's worth mentioning. ... show more
