I've been building PCs for years, and Samsung has always been my go-to brand for storage. The Samsung SSD 9100 PRO 4TB PCIe 5.0x4 fits right in with the quality I’ve come to expect. From build quality to speed, it doesn’t disappoint. Build Quality: Strong and Durable The first thing I noticed when I took the drive out of the box was how solid it felt. It’s built to last with a sturdy heat spreader and a well-made PCB. This drive doesn’t feel flimsy at all, and I can tell it’s designed to handle heavy use over time. It’s a high-quality piece of hardware that inspires confidence. Performance: Fast and Ready for the Future The speed on this thing is impressive. I’m using it with my Asus z790 ITX motherboard, and even though the drive shares PCIe lanes with other components, it still delivers the advertised speeds without issue. Whether I’m loading large files, booting up Windows, or transferring a ton of data, it’s smooth and quick. The PCIe 5.0x4 interface means this drive is set up for the next few years, so I’m not worried about it being outdated any time soon. It’s fast enough for anything I’m doing now and should handle whatever comes next (not like there is anything I need faster at the moment :) ) Size: 4TB of Storage Having 4TB of space on an SSD is becoming more mainstream. I’ve got more than enough room for all my games, video projects, and backups, with plenty left over. Even with that much storage, the drive doesn’t slow down or feel sluggish. It’s great knowing I can store everything I need without worrying about running out of space. Value: Worth the Investment This SSD isn’t cheap, but it’s worth the price. Between the fast speeds, massive storage, and solid build, it’s a great investment. I’ve seen it go on sale a few times, but it’s rare, so if you spot one, it’s worth jumping on it. While it’s definitely an upfront cost, you’re getting something that’ll last and keep up with future needs. Final Thoughts The Samsung SSD 9100 PRO 4TB PCIe 5.0x4 is exactly what I wanted.     • Windows booting and Visual Studio compiling are SO fast!

This drive is so, so fast. While I am not able to max out the advertised top speed of 14,800MB/s sequential read, I do get around 13,000MB/s read and write, which is still great! Windows 11 boots so quickly, and compiling software in Visual Studio on my new build takes under a minute where it used to take 4-5 minutes on my last build. This drive stays cool thanks to the Thermalright HR10 2280 PRO Black SSD Cooler I put on it, topping out at 45C under heavy load and 32C-ish under normal load. I got a great deal on the 4TB at the time and it was a great price for an excellent PCIe 5.0 drive. It's a super fast, great drive so far. Installation was easy on my Gen 5-compatible motherboard, and it runs cool with proper airflow. This M2 SSD is awesome. It was a snap to install on the motherboard with no cables as with SATA SSD drives I had. My new motherboard has built-in heat sinks so I didn’t need to order the model that comes with one for slightly more money. Performance seems excellent, but I’m not a gamer.
