  • Small drive - fast read - average write
Size: 256 GB
Very small drive. Read speeds close to advertised. I got sequential reads on the 256GB drive in the low to mid 290s MB/s. I got write speeds just under 60 MB/s (sequential). I'm getting random read and writes between 13 and 15 MB/s. See screen shot from Crystal Disk Mark 6. Write speed was not advertised - specs just say "write speed is lower than read speed". Yeah, less than helpful. I'd prefer to have the write speed advertised so that we can make a more informed purchase. I hope my test helps you all out. At this price point and for a drive so small I'd say this is a decent purchase. You get huge capacity in a small form factor with write speeds that are in the ballpark of the SanDisk Extreme Pro. If you don't need to consistently write large files - this may fit the bill. If you need faster sustained writes, don't mind a larger drive, and have an extra $35 - maybe the SanDisk Extreme Pro is for you. ... show more

  • Absolutely trash
Size: 32 GB
As another review noted, the drive randomly disappears without notice after a few minutes in the computer. This causes file corruption. I purchased three of these devices to be used as a small RAID-Z1 array for an embedded system in some lab tests. First drive had the disconnect issue mentioned above, and about 500 bad blocks after writing a few GB to the drive. Second drive didn't remove itself, but reported over 1000 bad blocks after the same write load. Neither drive lasted more than 10 minutes before data corruption is detected. Third drive was thrown out without ever touching it because of the first two. In the computer appliance and embedded server world, "fit" USB drives are the defacto standard for the boot drive. This includes things like VMWare, FreeNAS, pfSense, OPNsense, and general FreeBSD/Linux systems. This is what I got the drives for, and why they would be in a RAID setup (again, common defacto standard for "fit" USB drives). These drives could not handle a single large write and single read back reliably. End of story. Go with what we know is best. Use the main band that made "fit" drives the defacto standard. Don't trust these. I wanted to experiment with an alternative brand, because their SD cards have been rock solid. USB drives though? Absolute trash. Go with the main, long trusted, long lasting USB storage brand. Yeah, they cost an extra 50 cents... What is your data actually worth !? ... show more

  • Samsung USB “Exfat” format
Size: 128 GB
What a nice small usb product for the car, I bought this because I have another samsung small usb that works perfectly in my car, home stereo, and computer. This samsung Usb only worked in the computer. Here is what I found out this new samsung drive system is based on something called “ Exfat” where the first samsung was “Fat 32”. They say you can reformat it to Fat 32.....however it is not easy at all .....I downloaded easyus....and what to my surprise ,you have to pay for the version that will actually reformat to Fat 32 and it costs more than the actual USB drive. I do not have the time to figure out, reformat usb drives....all my sandisk usb’s just plug and play in Everything never a problem. My first USB samsung plays in everything.....Why in the world would anyone change from a format that absolutely worked perfectly.....it dazzles me.....good luck with this one to whoever wants to deal with Exfat formats. ... show more

  • it keeps turning off or going to sleep
Size: 128 GB
I have been using flash drives for a long long time and this is by far the WORST one. I have it plugged in and o'm working on a document and the flash drive disappears from my files. its like it goes to sleep or it turns off. I have to constantly unplug it and plug it back in, i'm afraid the drive is going to get corrupted constantly unplugging it and I might lose all my work. definitely returning it. ... show more

  • Low profile, fast boot up and worth the price
Size: 256 GB
I bought this for the usb port in my car to hold music instead of packing around my binder of cd's. It was a little tricky to load on my computer to begin with. Had to use the port in the back of the tower. However, once that got sorted out loading it was easy and fast, even loading whole cd's. It holds alot of music, *alot of music*! It registers with my car really fast so there isn't alot of wait time. It's low profile, doesn't get in the way of anything at all, most of the time I forget it's even there. Very well worth the price. Would order it again. ... show more

  • Solid performer.
Size: 128 GB
Unlike SanDisk's **FAIL** in this same space with their recent new one, this has a metal body and seems to be more responsive, etc. over the other. You're better served with this one over the other brands there on this. This is still tickin-kickin' after three weeks of use as my external store on my NVidia Shield TV unit- SanDisk's comparable? Plastic case (which I was dubious about) welded around the circuit board? Baked itself to death in only a week's time. Get this one, folks- same rough price, slightly faster, and a hack of a lot more robust. ... show more

  • Space constraints when using inline (side by side) usb hubs or jacks.
Size: 256 GB
These drives are very fast but do run a bit warm. One thing to be aware of is the width of the head. Because the keychain loop is on the side instead of the front, they are slightly too wide to allow 2 or more drives to be inserted into an inline hub, such as a sabrent 4 port USB 3.0 hub with the individual port switches, without having to insert them at a slight angle. They will fit but are not in a flush straight line. If you are using a hub that stacks (not inline) ports on top of each other, this is not an issue. ... show more
