Very sharp text and colors looks very accurate. I was contemplating between this and Dell Ultrasharp, but I am happy after I received it. Although I had issues connecting with my Macbook pro(it keeps going into standby after 10 seconds of display for some reason). I tried two different macbooks and the results are same. When I used a HP dock the issue seems to go away! I also checked on Samsung website if the monitor needs new firmware, but I couldn't find the model to show on their support page. I am guessing it is because it is a brand new model and they are still working on it

Amazing monitor. The best of the best here, 144 refresh, ethernet connectivity, Thunderbolt 5, and its the best of the best. The only issue is the the Thunderbolt 5 does not work on the mac, Samsung needs to release a firmware update for the Mac. Once they release the update it will be amazing. Sadly Samsungs technical support is horrible. The screen is amazing regardless of the Thunderbolt 5 issues. Its huge and has a lot of screen real estate. HDMI 2.1 will have to work for now.

I replaced a Samsung S65TC with this monitor, because the S65TC required third party software and significant configuration just to look acceptable on my 2025 M4 MacBook Pro. The S85TH solved these problems. Single Thunderbolt 4 cable, native HiDPI at 3840x1620, 144Hz. macOS recognized it correctly and offered clean scaled resolutions immediately with no software intervention required. I also considered the Dell U4025QW but it was out of stock everywhere and twice as expensive. The single cable also delivers 140W charging, handles five USB-A peripherals through the built-in hub, and provides Ethernet. It genuinely replaces a dock. Two setup gotchas worth knowing before you dig through the OSD wondering what's wrong. First, the monitor ships in Eco picture mode, which artificially limits brightness. Switch it to Custom immediately. Second, Dynamic Brightness is enabled by default and will silently cap your backlight even with the brightness slider maxed out. Turn it off. Once I did both, the image was stunning. If you have a Mac and want an ultrawide that works correctly without compromises, this is it.

I saw another review somewhere of someone complaining about it constantly losing the display with a Macbook. I figured maybe it was user error. I have attempted with every possible refresh rate/resolution, multiple thunderbolt cables, different macbooks. After connecting for 30 seconds to 3 minutes, the display goes blank and says there is nothing to display. My mouse and keyboard are still working through the monitor to the Mac. The Mac still detects the monitor. If I change the resolution, the display will reappear for another 30sec to 3 minutes, before going out again. I reached out to Samsung and they told me just to return it. For the brief time it works, it gives some of the best clarity. Hopefully Samsung will figure out why this is happening.

I replaced a 43 inch 4k TV and a 27 inch 144hz monitor with this 40" ViewFinity S8, driven by my Intel B580 graphics card. Assembly and setup was quick and I did not run into any issues, the manual included wasn't spectacular. I was able to remove my old screens and just replace it with this monitor. It's as wide almost as my 43 inch that was on my desk, however not as high and curved. It took a bit to get used to the curve and resolution which I expected. Setting it up, I went ahead and disabled all the 'eco' settings I could find. I dislike the auto dimming features and prefer a steady and preset brightness. I noticed no flickering and the picture quality was excellent with the Intel B580. The B580 is a reasonably priced graphics card so I was worried about performance but it does great. Viewing angles are excellent, the picture is a big upgrade over my old monitors, after using it for hours, my eyes weren't tired so I could continue using it for a long time. There's many modes for multi screen and multi monitor, even picture in picture. If you install the Samsung Display Manager, it can help you configure everything. The multi screen and PIP even can work over more than one device. It has a built in KVM switch which eliminates the need for a dock, since it also an power an attached laptop. In my case, I connected a Mac Mini M4 and it worked as expected. There's just so many ports, it was confusing at first for a bit, because there's also ports in the back and on the bottom. The bottom ports are best suited for a phone, both USB-A and USB-C are available. That same area also has one of my most requested item on a monitor, a headphone jack, which not a lot of monitors have. The built in speakers sound pretty good, more than enough for music or spoken words. By the way, you can also connect a headset with microphone to the USB-A port on the bottom of the monitor, eliminating another connection. I was able to "snap" windows to the left and right of the screen and space was plenty, that's why I removed the second monitor in this setup. Any website I used looked good, I didn't see any weird stretching and it really felt like I had a lot more room working. I played a few games too, simple ones like Slay the Spire 2, Balatro and Megabonk without issues. Even Battlefield 6 looked fantastic, though performance on the B580 required me to turn down details. I don't feel the need now to go back to what I had before and that's a great sign. It's the ultimate monitor I think for both productivity and gaming. I do think the value is there, though this whole monitor costs more than my whole machine (AMD 5800x, 32gb ram, Intel B580). My only concern is that Samsung only offers a one year warranty on this monitor. As a premium product I would expect at least 2-3 years or more. If something happens after a year, I think I would not be very happy, so I do recommend getting some type of protection plan (which Samsung does offer at an additional cost).

The Samsung ViewFinity S8 delivers an incredibly impressive viewing experience! The 5K2K WUHD resolution provides exceptional sharpness and plenty of screen space for multitasking, making it perfect for productivity, photo editing, and content creation. Being able to have so much extra horizontal space really does change the game. When it comes to any sort of development or creative process. The 144Hz refresh rate also keeps everything looking incredibly smooth, whether I'm scrolling through documents or enjoying games. The built-in speakers are surprisingly good for everyday use. Although I hardly ever use built-in speakers for anything. As I have a very nice soundbar system set up that I can take advantage of. HDR10+ adds vibrant colors and improved contrast when watching videos. Thunderbolt connectivity makes it easy to connect and charge compatible laptops with a single cable, helping keep my workspace clean. The built-in KVM switch is also a great feature for anyone using multiple computers. Although I haven't had a chance to actually test that feature out yet, personally. I will certainly update this when/if I do though! I also appreciate the fully adjustable stand with height, tilt, and swivel options, making it easy to find a comfortable viewing position. Considering some desks can sit high or low. It really is nice having that flexibility when it comes to what angle your screen is at. Combined with AMD FreeSync, the monitor offers a smooth, responsive experience with minimal screen tearing. Not much more I can say... This is a premium monitor that combines excellent image quality, modern connectivity, and thoughtful productivity features. It's a fantastic choice for professionals and anyone looking for a high-end ultrawide display. It's certainly pricey, but honestly with all the features it has... I don't see that being much of an issue. Samsung tends to make some really quality products. This one is absolutely no exception!

I received this today. I'm not pleased with the out of the box experience. It's far too dim and the menu tree is convoluted. Menu > Picture > Picture Mode: Entertain seems to be the brightest setting, but that gives the picture a blue tint. For context my prior monitor was a U3818DW. Also, the cabling arrangement is poor as well. They drape visibly. It's not obvious to me how to discretely run the cables. EDIT: I stand by my original opinion. However, after reading other people's reviews I learned how to improve the out of the box dim screen. I chose the following and I'm now pleased with the display: - Menu > Picture > - Picture Mode: Original - Contrast Enhancer: Off - Color Tone: Natural - Dynamic Brightness: Off - Menu > System > - Save Energy: Off As Jul 2 2026, Samsung.com does not have the manual for this monitor. I found a 3rd party hosted manual. However, it reads like stereo instructions. It's not great. I would recommend this monitor for tech savvy or patient people. It's actually quite good, but not so out of the box.

The Samsung 40" ViewFinity S8 (S85TH) replaced my Dell 34" ultrawide, and overall I've been very pleased with the upgrade. The biggest advantage is the size and resolution. The 40-inch 5K2K display provides a massive amount of screen real estate, making it ideal for coding, application development, multitasking, spreadsheets, and other productivity-focused workloads. The additional vertical resolution over a standard ultrawide is especially noticeable during long work sessions. Out of the box, the colors weren't quite as vibrant or accurate as my previous Dell IPS monitor, likely due to the different panel technology. However, after spending a few minutes adjusting the display settings, I was able to get the image looking very good. While color-critical users may still prefer a high-end IPS panel, the increased size and resolution more than make up for the difference in my daily workflow. Samsung did a good job with usability as well. The center-mounted control button is easy to reach and navigate, making monitor adjustments quick and painless. The built-in KVM switch works exactly as expected and allows me to seamlessly switch between my work and home computers without additional hardware, a feature I relied on heavily with my previous monitor. The included software is fairly basic but functional and covers the essentials without getting in the way. One feature I was especially happy to see is DisplayPort daisy-chain support. My Dell lacked this capability, and it's something I missed frequently with my configured multiple-monitor setup. Build quality feels solid, the curved screen helps keep the large display comfortable to view, and the overall design looks clean and professional on the desk. While long-term durability remains to be seen, the monitor feels well-built and premium for its price point. Considering the combination of size, resolution, KVM functionality, USB-C connectivity, and daisy-chain support, I think this monitor delivers excellent value for professionals who spend long hours working with multiple windows and applications. Pros: • Huge 40" 5K2K workspace • Excellent for coding, development, and multitasking • Built-in KVM works well • Easy-to-use center control button • DisplayPort daisy-chain support • Solid build quality • Clean, professional appearance Cons: • Colors aren't quite as good as a quality IPS panel • Software is functional but fairly basic Overall, this has been an excellent productivity upgrade and a worthwhile replacement for my Dell ultrawide.
