  • Sturdy and stable
I have cervical disc injuries, among other things. I don’t fall in the bathtub. I fall out 😲 Usually when I’m shaving my legs but also just washing up in the shower. (TMI? Perhaps) For me, hairy legs in the summertime is a glamour don’t. However, I would rather have hairy legs than sustain more injuries falling out of the tub. I do not want to drill holes in my tile. With my luck, the tiles would crack. I remember using this type of suction bathtub grab bar and years ago, without success. So that ugly white grab bar I now use to hold my quilting rulers so I can cut fabric. After reading many reviews on many different suction grab bars, I decided to purchase this one. I’m glad I did 🙂 I have shaved my legs on 3 different occasions with much success! Success meaning that I did not fall out of the tub! As you can see, my tiles are 6” x 6”. There is plenty of room for proper placement of the grab bar. There are certain things that MUST be done before placing the grab bar. You can see how important these steps are for your safety by reading the many reviews that include safety precautions. Always read reviews no matter what you’re buying. Anyways … 1) Check to see if your grab bar will fit properly where you want to place it. You will want to take into consideration of where the grout lines are in relation to the placement of your grab bar. DO NOT, under any circumstances, place a suction cup over a grout line. You will NOT have any suction. 2) Clean the area where your grab bar will be. I cleaned 3 tiles across and 5 tiles up and down for the 12” grab bar. The first cleanse was with my usual cleansing spray. Allow to dry. Cleanse area again with rubbing alcohol. I used 90% rubbing alcohol because that’s what I have on hand. I’m fairly certain 70% rubbing alcohol will work as well. If I had 70% rubbing alcohol I may have done it twice. Anyway … once I heard the squeaks, and saw no streaks, I knew that my wall was ready for the grab bar. 3) Apply a dampened paper towel to the suction cups. There is NO need for a drippy wet paper towel. This may defeat the purpose of applying a scant amount of water to the suction cups. 4) With both levers up, place the grab bar where you want it. Make sure that both cups are within the tiles and NOT over a grout line. Also, if your grab bar is sliding around, chances are that you have too much water on your suction cups. This can be DANGEROUS! As the grab bar will slip and you will fall. As me how I know this. 🥺 5) Push until both red dots are green. You may need to have someone with more upper body strength to do this for you. 6 While maintaining the same pressure that turned the red dots green, flip the levers so that they are closed. 7) Check to make sure that the green dots are still green. If not, repeat steps 4,5 and 6. And that’s it! I hope my instructions are helpful and make sense. Thank you for taking the time to read them. 🙂 ... show more

  • Grab bars with GREAT suction
These grab bars are well made, even though made of plastic parts. Very robust and sturdy, they stick like glue to flat, hard surfaces (producer is very explicit that these will not hold well [if at all] on tiled surfaces with grout lines), yet they release quite easily if you want to remove or reposition them. While it is advisable to never put your full weight in a direct lateral line with the device (up, down or sideways), I have not had any issues with using them for balance, shifting weight in the shower or over the tub wall, and pulling myself up from a lower position (shower chair or kneeling). Have been unable to pull them away from the wall except by using the release levers - very secure. I bought 3 of these so that I could position them at intervals around the shower walls - this strategy works well for distributing your weight when you are moving or need support (I weigh approx 215 lbs), and keeps you from relying on putting all of your weight on one point. The only difficulty I have had with them is making use of the "indicators" built into the two bases. Sufficient pressure on the center or either end of the bar ideally rotates the indicator from "red" to "green", at which point you are then to lock down the release levers to engage the suction fully. But in most cases, even with as much pressure as I could bring to bear on the handle, most often the indicator would only rotate about a quarter or halfway to "full green". This has not been a showstopper though: the grip is plenty strong anyway, and you can always test its strength to your own satisfaction in your own circumstances. You're not going to be able to press the bar down any further than the surface of the wall itself, and because the grip is tremendous in any case, it is obvious that the position of the indicator is not directly related to the strength of the device's grip to the wall. Overall, I am VERY SATISFIED with this product. Recommended. ... show more

  • super easy installation
Color: Gray Size: 17 inch | 2 Pack
Got these to give a little extra support for my husband and I for getting in and out of our tub and shower surround. From removing them from the box to having them installed took maybe two minutes, and that included the time needed to make sure the shower wall was cleaned and prepped for them. They latch on in seconds and hold very securely. The four stars instead of five is because one of the four indicator buttons shows a little sliver of red (re-installed it a couple of times with the same result) while all the others are fully green. Even so, the bar feels very secure so I expect it's not really a problem. I especially like the option to remove and re-install the bars within seconds to a slightly different location if we decide that would be better. This would not be an option if the bars were being screwed permanently into the wall. ... show more

  • Excellent back-up bar for smooth surface
Love the stability these offer. We installed in our vacation house shower stalls- got two sizes one for each shower. These showers already have one installed by contractor by code, but these are extra and are super-sturdy! We added them for ease of stepping in and out of showers, since the surface of the pre-molded showers is a bit slippery and base of floor has curves. I LOVE the fact that the color code (red/green) dots indicate the suction power. Green tells you it is secure. The Red indicates loss of suction power). It is simply a nice visual and easy check when you get i. the shower. We have only had to resuction one, installed on a slightly curved pre-fab shower wall. The other has been stuck for months without a need to readjust except when i clean. Easy to install but does require equal pressure and for e to get a solid suction. Not sure how well it works in tiles—maybe someone else has/can review that. I had a similar style but not as good quality and it kept falling off our tile wall. will order more for our showers at home now that i know how well they work. ... show more
