These mattress protectors are simply wonderful. I bought these for our first "big boy" twin bed, a bunk bed. My son was still in diapers, then pull-ups, and now in his big boy underwear for the past few months. I recently purchased an extra one of these because we were having nightly accidents and a set of bedding was always in the wash, lol. First, the protector is snowy white and the top layer is super soft and has a fuzzy type feel - almost like super short minky. The underside is a very subtle waterproof layer. The fabric is very soft and does not have a plastic feel to it at all. The entire cover is the same material, including the sides. Some mattress pads use a cheaper stretchy material on the sides that go over the mattress - this one doesn't - it is just like a fitted sheet. We have memory foam mattresses that are a tiny bit less thick than an normal mattress and fit our bunk bed well. This product is made to fit a thicker (normal) mattress, but the corners and edges are so well made that it still works on our mattresses without coming loose. I think maybe the waterproof layer helps hold it in place and then I just extra tuck the edges. The SafeRest protects the mattress perfectly - no liquid has ever leaked through. When my son was still in diapers, leaks were less obvious by looking at the colorful sheets (and they dry so fast) that I often pulled up the sheet and looked at the white mattress cover for tell-tale yellow patches - I found that to be so helpful - it's the little things that help out, lol. They have maintained their original quality, color, softness, elasticity, etc. through all of the washing and drying over and over again. And I wash soiled bedding on super wash, warm with extra rinse and throw them in the dryer on high - you don't have time for extra care when you need new bedding every day! These are the same snowy white as when they arrived (with no stains) even after being washed with all of our colorful sheets and bedspreads - Winnie the Pooh, Robots, and Lego. And they feel just as soft with no pilling on the soft side, no cracks in the waterproof side and the elastic has maintained it's like-new integrity. I wish my adult bedding was made this well.

My old mattress cover disintegrated and it was time for a new one. This one is great. It was easy to wash, put on the bed, it stays put between linen changes, and has no odor to it. It’s definitely more durable than the ones I had used before!

We purchased these for our kid's bed. Three kids, three beds. We want to protect our mattresses from any night time accidents and to help with allergens. They are a lot softer than I thought. The fabric is soft and my son almost thought to use it as his fitted sheet. I had to let him know that it's just the mattress cover. It fit perfectly on the thicker twin mattresses we have. And it doesn't constantly slip off like other mattress covers have. It is also a lot quieter than I was expecting. With the PUL material that repels the water and keeps it from soaking into the mattress; most of my experience is that it is loud when you move. But my kids can toss and turn and I hardly hear the bedding at all. It is doing a great job at what it says it should do and we've been very pleased. We even have a king sized one for our king memory foam bed. We never hear it at night and it's protected our king bed perfectly from when the toddler sneaks in to use our bed. Update: My son just threw up in the night last night. This seriously saved our mattress! nothing leaked through onto the mattress!! Made for a much easier clean up.

I read hundred of reviews all over online trying to find a good mattress cover. The purpose for our use of this *Twin Size SafeRest Classic Plus Hypoallergenic 100% Waterproof Mattress Protector - Vinyl Free* was for my 4 yr old's bed. He's a very sound sleeper, and not yet potty trained for nights... And it's been great! We recently got the kids new beds, so when the old mattress was replaced I was determined to find a REALLY GOOD waterproof cover to protect the new one! For those saying this wasn't water proof.. I don't know how that's possible. Maybe they got a "lemon" product? But even after multiple accidents (and my son can pee a lot!) the new mattress below is dry. Originally skeptical because of some mixed reviews, I put one of the polyester crib mattress pads under him to help absorb and "protect just incase" But even without it, there isn't fluid soaking through. DETAILS on the product itself. The sides are not waterproof. It is just a stretchy fabric that fits well around the mattress, and isn't a battle to get on. (a bonus when you have bunk beds you're crawling under/on to make) There is the same soft fabric on the cover itself, that is almost "lined" with the plastic waterproof fabric under it. But it's not crunchy like a lot of plastic liners. I can't say temperature wise how much it effects sleeping on, but we're in AZ so it's always hot. I have washed it multiple times. Personally I wash it in a large net bag to avoid it catching or snagging on anything. Gently in warm water (machine) and hung to dry. In a pinch I put in on low in the dryer to speed up the drying before bedtime, but generally I let it completely air dry. One reason I'm buying an extra spare one. I have previously tried some of the "cheaper" plastic covers, the kind that zip and fully enclose even, and they just rip. And then leak! This one having soft fabric in addition to the waterproof side stands up to little boys bouncing on their bed... And it's not really loud and crunchy when you move or sit on it! (also nice. The last one we had would make horrible noise every time my son moved) I would really recommend this cover, if you're wanting a reasonably priced product that works! *I haven't dumped liquid straight on to test as some people do with these.. And I also don't have pets of any kind climbing on or sleeping on them.. I also wouldn't suggest this as a solution for bedbugs (as pictured on the product photo) simply because it's not a fully incasing cover.

I owned several brands of mattress protectors. I bought them for their water proof purposes. I will tell you why I like this one the most and share with you how the others are compared to this one. Protect-A-Bed Premium Queen Waterproof Mattress Protector - We have a King size protector. It was sold at triple the price by Mattress Company. The bottom waterproof liner looks like SafeRest. The top however has a terry cloth feel. When lined on bed, you can tell that the protector is there. It's not as soft as Safe Rest. We owned this one for 6 years now and surprisingly, despite all the abuses, it is still waterproof. At first, we threw it in the dryer and didn't know that it is supposed to be air dry, or low heat dry. It didn't damage it. Later a vacuum accidentally sucked part of it and tore a big hole. We still use it because my 3 years old tend to have accidents on our bed. Of course we would put the tore part on the side where my son's not sleeping on it. After countless time of accidents (pregnancy water break, pee, throw up) it is still waterproof. The terry cloth top is not soft anymore. Queen Size Luna Premium Hypoallergenic 100% Waterproof Mattress Protector - 10 Year Warranty - Made In The USA - We bought a Crib size for my son. It says USA made but the quality is really bad. First one we have has seams tearing. We did received replacement sent from the company without having to pay extra. Can't share much on how waterproof it is because my son won't sleep in his crib. Priva Ultra Plus Absorbent 300 Washes Waterproof Sheet Protector, 34 by 52-Inch, White - Oh my goodness the smell is very unplesant. I wanted to throw up the first time I open it. The PVC plastic is horrible and hot. Why would I let my son sleep on a piece of pvc when I wouldn't even want it on my back. I tried that and I pulled the whole protector out of his bed the first time I sleep with him. The advertised non skid backing is false. It kept moving out of position. I'd rather have one that actually wrap around the bed. Anyway I ordered two. First one, after the initial wash, the horrid smell somewhat disappeared. However the quilted seam starts peeling. I couldn't sew it back because it is right in the middle of the liner, and I didn't want to poke holes in the PVC liner. Amazon had me returned it and refunded it to me. I kept the second one, not sure why but for just in case. Of all the protectors reviewed here, this is the only one that will absorb lots of water. The rest doesn't absorb. The water just stay on the top of the liner. If accident happens, you can feel the top of it wet, but not the mattress. This one however, it has a layer in between the top and bottom, and actually absorbed water. Hard to tell if a toddler wet the bed or not, unless you feel or smell it. Twin Size SafeRest Classic Plus Hypoallergenic 100% Waterproof Mattress Protector - Vinyl Free- I absolutely love this. This one is by far the most comfortable liner and barely noticeable. The top part is smooth and soft. It is oversized to fit fatter mattress so it fits a little loose on his Tempurpedic mattress. I wash it in the washer with other linen, and only air dry it. So far it is still waterproof. My son has a few accidents and his mattress stays dry. I love it so much I bought two more , and one for our king bed. If you are worried that it is not waterproof after reading other reviewers, I strongly suggest that you don't throw it in the dryer. Just leave it out and overnight it should dry. When I was washing it before I put it on the twin mattress for my toddler, I pulled it out of the washer and excess water rolled right off! That puts my mind at ease! Fits an 8 inch twin mattress well! It seemed pretty cool and comfortable so I guess You could use it as a fitted sheet if you wanted to. There was no zipper on the sheet I received. It was just like a regular fitted sheet with pockets.
