My wife went into labor a year and a half ago and that labor went very quickly....so quickly that she ended up giving birth on our bed in the presence of EMTs. We then went to the hospital where I stayed overnight with my wife and new baby girl. The next day, once things had clamed down, I went home to clean up before they came home. For those who have witnessed or gone through child birth, you know what a mess I arrived to. For those who haven't, suffice to say there are many different types of fluids and a lot of them. Let's just say I was fully expecting to be purchasing a new mattress. To my amazement, once I'd bagged our sheets and this mattress pad, our mattress was perfectly fine. My husband and I just got a puppy. e thought we had potty training under control but unfortunately, she loves to pee on our bed. We were washing sheets like three times a week. While we worked on the potty training we needed something to protect our mattress. Thankfully, I found this and it was delivered the same day. We had one accident since putting it on and our mattress was dry as a bone. THANK YOU JESUS! It really works but the thing I hate about these types of mattress pads is that they are crinkly. This one not so much so I am thankful for that but I think the general consensus is that to make them waterproof, they have to have this materials. So yes it works, but yes it is a bit crinkly. I last bought this type of mattress cover/protector 10 years ago for our new foam mattress. It is light weight and sturdy. Fits the mattress perfectly. It washes up so nicely. Love it! I hang it outside to dry, after washing, but directions say it can be placed in the dryer. I finally purchased this new one, because the old one had a few areas of light yellowing. This mattress protector is exactly the same as I bought at a mattress store for much more. Repels water just fine. But don't put them in the dryer, even on low, it breaks down the rubbery water repellant layer. Hang it over a banister, back of couch or something to dry.
