  • A real workhorse…
I live on an acre of land, with lots of trees, and every year, I end up with lots of dead branches, many of which are pretty big. I taken down small trees, and dead branches from large trees, and because this battery operated chain saw works so well, it has replaced my gas powered saw. Also, unlike the gas powered saw, which constantly presented problems, I’ve had absolutely no problems with this chainsaw. I was surprised at just how easy it is to cut branches, large and small, with this battery operated saw. I suspect I’ll get lots of years out of this one, whereas my gas powered saw started giving me problems almost from day one. ... show more

  • Great Little Saw
Love this saw. Easy to use ( I am a 67 year old woman). The saw is well balanced and cuts through small trees, branches like butter. The battery also has good life. Cut up a dead fig tree in 15-20 minutes and had a 4' pile of branches with 3/4 of battery power left. Can't say enough good things.

  • Good light duty chainsaw
I bought it to cut up fallen tree limbs including a tree that broke in a lightning strike. I was able to cut about 10 inch limbs and it's pretty easy to controll. It's disappointing that it does not come with any chain oil to get you up and going. The battery that comes with it is kinda wimpy. Just 2ma. I bought an aftermarket 6ma battery and that helps a lot. Overall I am happy with the saw. A lot less fuss than a gas powered one. ... show more

  • Cuts Surprisingly Well For a Battery-Powered Saw
I added this saw to my collection of Ryobi One+ tools a couple of summers ago, and have used it fairly often around our heavily wooded property since then. I've made cuts up to around six inches and it cuts much better than I expected. Another thing that I didn't expect is that the RPMs are much slower than a gas-powered saw, so it takes longer for the same cut-- but the chips are big, and the saw eventually churns through the wood. At first I thought the slow speed was a negative, but on reflection, the low RPMs, combined with the light weight makes this saw much safer to use than a gas-powered unit. For small jobs-- like broken saplings or low-hanging branches-- you can't beat the convenience, and I frequently find my self grabbing this unit, rather than my larger, gas-powered saw with all the gas-mixing, starting, and general bother. I've also been able to use this saw one-handed while on a ladder or up in a tree-- something that is extremely handy for such an inexpensive tool. The top-handled, gas-powered saws that are designed for one-handed use while climbing cost serious $$$, so the fact that you can do this with this Ryobi is a major benefit. For light-duty, occasional use, I highly recommend this saw-- especially if you already have other One+ tools and batteries. ... show more

Super handy tool that takes care of business without the smell of oily gasoline.

  • Overall Very Happy
Purchased the 10" blade and overall was very happy. The one thing I purchased this for in the beginning was to take out two bushes, in addition to future projects. Most gas powered chainsaws can get a high RPM so small branches of a bush aren't issues, but because the RPM aren't so high with this unit, the saw bounces all over when it tries to cut through groupings of small pieces or branches. When it comes to decent size branches, this saw is great. While it isn't as quick, it's consistent as it cuts. I overall recommend this for branches, but when it comes to smaller items, be very careful as it bounces all over the place. ... show more

  • Pretty good
The device itself works ok. It’s definitely only good for smaller, thinner branches, but that’s what I needed it for. It came with the chain on backwards or upside down, so, definitely do some initial inspections. It’s to fix, but odd that it wasn’t out on correctly out of the box. It also did not come with the lubricant that is required to operate it, so expect a trip to the store to get some before using it. I did like that it included the battery and charger to add to my set, so, now I have an extra charger and battery, and I have got a decent amount of use on a single battery, which exceeded my expectation. It’s been great other than the few details I mentioned. If you need a small saw for pruning and small branches, this is a good choice. ... show more

  • Smoked motor-Ryobi denied warranty
Got to use this Ryobi chain on 4 occasions since purchased in July. Worked well the first three times. On the last occasion, it performed sluggishly. The 4 aH battery only made 4 cuts and got a whiff of smoke coming from the motor. Loaded another fresh battery to complete the task. At this point, the smoke pored out of the motor vents. After the initial purchase, I registered the saw with Ryobi. I was initially instructed to bring the saw to an authorized Ryobi service provider, which I did. The dealer looked up the parts needed, no parts are available to repair this 4 month old saw. The dealer proceeded to order a replacement. Fast forward to 2 weeks later, Ryobi responded to my initial email chain and stated that I had purchased this chain saw from an unauthorized Ryobi dealer-within Amazon. Ryobi Customer Service stated that since the tool was purchased from an unauthorized seller, there was no warranty coverage on the tool. This also dis-spite having registered the new tool directly with Ryobi via their website. HOPEFULLY, the service center will be able to provide a replacement saw. Only time will tell, the service center should have my replacement within another week or two. Buyer BE AWARE! It appears that if you buy Ryobi tools from any other source except Home Depot, you could be SOL! ... show more
