I reviewed most of the popular 16,000-grain portable water softeners on Amazon. Most of them were in the range of $250 to $300, and you may have to buy additional fittings. Then I saw this RV Guard softener for $105, including all the required fittings. I realized that the RV Guard softener is no different from those other softeners except for the much lower price and extra fittings. So, I decided to give it a shot, and everything worked perfectly. I am using this softener to improve the quality of shower water in my rental apartment. I have been using it for more than a week now. I am taking the time to write this review purely to help promote such an affordable, good-quality softener. I see that the current price is $115, and it may increase, but it is still way less than $270, the price of the most popular softener right now.

Problem with the 1st one I received. Resin beads were like peanut butter and should NOT be. Returned and received the 2nd one and it is perfect and works well!! Seller was easy to work with and handled the replacement efficiently. He stated that the first one was probably a return and never should have been sent. Quality control needs to be improved. I am happy with the one that works!!

I recently moved to an area with extremely hard water. Within weeks of living here, my long beautiful hair was falling out at an alarming rate. I was rinsing my hair with vinegar after washing it, it was so bad. I installed this in my shower (I rent, and swapped out the shower head) and oh my, the luxury of soft water! My skin has stopped cracking and bleeding, my hair is oh so soft and has stopped falling out. The biggest issue with this setup, if anyone wants to do the same, is that the tank is large so it takes maybe 5 minutes for the water to circulate through. Changing the temperature of the water is almost impossible. As someone else noted, this is a pretty high quality product for the price. I would buy again
