A pre-filter can extend the life of your water softener by removing sediment & other minerals such as chlorine that can clog the resin beads, protecting the system and improving its efficiency. B. Backflush the unit every 3 months for 3 to 5 minutes. C. Sterilize the tank before use or every year. FAQ Q: How to regeneration the unit? A: 1. Disconnect the hoses connected to the unit and remove the head. 3. Fill the tank with 2 x 26oz table salt. 4. Return the head and connect the water source to the input. 5. Flush the unit for 30 minutes by turning on the water slowly. 6. Increase the water flow for 10 minutes until the salt is fully dissolved. 7. The unit is ready for use if the saltwater is completely drained from the unit. Q: How to storage the water softener? A: 1. Backflush the unit. 2. Regenerate the unit. 3. Put the unit upside down to drain the unit. Make sure the unit is dry. 4. Backflush and regenerate the unit again before reusing.

Great Water Softener, but the Included Connectors Could Be Better
This water softener does a great job and works very well at softening the water for our RV. Overall, I’m very happy with its performance. My main issue was with the assortment of adapters and connectors that came with the unit. The 90° elbow connector did not have enough thread to properly connect to any of my hoses. I ended up ordering the RVGUARD 90 Degree Elbow Water Hose Adapter, and it worked perfectly. Also, there is only one Quick Connector included. One of the Hose Adapters works with the Quick Connector, but I’m not sure why the unit comes with two Hose Adapters when there is only one Quick Connector. So, the water softener itself works great, but I think the included fittings could be better designed and more complete. If you’re purchasing this, I’d recommend checking your hose connections ahead of time and possibly getting the RVGUARD 90° elbow adapter as well. Overall: Great water softener, but the included connectors could use some improvement. ... show more

I reviewed most of the popular 16,000-grain portable water softeners on Amazon. Most of them were in the range of $250 to $300, and you may have to buy additional fittings. Then I saw this RV Guard softener for $105, including all the required fittings. I realized that the RV Guard softener is no different from those other softeners except for the much lower price and extra fittings. So, I decided to give it a shot, and everything worked perfectly. I am using this softener to improve the quality of shower water in my rental apartment. I have been using it for more than a week now. I am taking the time to write this review purely to help promote such an affordable, good-quality softener. I see that the current price is $115, and it may increase, but it is still way less than $270, the price of the most popular softener right now. ... show more

AWESOME WATER SOFTENER WORTH THE INVESTMENT
This softener works awesome in the feel of the water, tadste of teh parks well water, and the way the water feels when showering. best investment made yet especially with the black faucets in the lav, vanity and the shower no more white staining. Constantly received use products with this type of softener.
This seemed to be flawless. Had a white jacket. The one thing I noticed was it seemed to be used. Seemed a little damp. But regardless worked well. No leaks etc. softened the water. So I am guessing someone returned it. Not sure how old the resin was. I had tried a similar competitors product and 2 brass fittings should have been attached to the top of the unit they weren’t. One fitting was missing. They had me try another one but very same problems and leaked at all attachments. It had an orange cover. Never again for this one. ... show more

Great but a few things to add if installing on home or mobile home
WARNING THESE ARE PREFILLED! I got these for a mobile home, i am going to make this short and sweet as i bought them for the horrible hard water ring you get in your toilet bowl. if you decided like me to buy these, here are some things you should know. These are for an RV, Yes you can install them in a home or mobile home. You will need the size of your inlet and out for your toilet, most come standard 3/4 nut on the main line. You will need not 1 but two 1/2 lines metal for the end that connects to the tank with two adapters. two adapters for the lines from Rv guard to metal pipes and one to connect 2 of the 1/2 pipes together to extend the lines so you do not have issues later. please do not try and open the container when you first get them as they are prefilled. Since they are prefilled you will need a hand cart to move them as they are extremely heavy, to the place you are installing them. (specially if you are just using them like i am) steps to help your install run smoothly 1. Measure your space you are placing these tanks before you buy them! ( some toilets are close to a tub, sink ect) 2. make sure you get the correct pipe and fitting 3/4 or 1/2 for toilet main pipe. if it is small it is the 3/4 fitting. 3. you will need two adjustable wrenches or one pipe wrench and a needle nose and a towel or cloth. 4. Shut off water and uninstall lead pipe from main and tank and make sure everything is dry. 5.. Teflon tape clock wise each fitting and pipe end that connects to RVGuard and toilet. 6. install pipes to main line then to toilet tank and check for leaks. "if there are leaks take off where the leak is, remove the teflon tape and re-teflon each fitting again clockwise and retighten!" install with everything in hand should take no more than 5 minutes tops! ... show more

Water softener.
This water softener unit works as described and was delivered on time. It doesn’t take long to set it up and the water coming out of the unit tastes great. Please note that I have a pressure regulator, Clear 2O dirt filter and inline filter between the faucet and the water softener unit. This configuration is recommended to extend the time between recharging of the unit. Make sure and flush the unit prior to use per the instructions. After the flush is complete and you attach the unit to the water hose to the inlet side of the unit, test the water coming out of the outlet to make sure the taste is good. ... show more
